Really? I thought it was rather weak myself. I find the statement "it's rock & roll" as convincing an argument as the phrase, "so".

I don't think anyone was offended by what Ed said or did. I just don't feel the least bit bad for him or the band. If Ed is STILL shocked at being screwed over by RS then I'd like to know what planet he's been living on for the past 16 years. If this was the first time this happened I could maybe understand him being upset or feeling betrayed. But this happens all the time w/ PJ & RS. If they bother you that much then STOP WORKING WITH THEM.

Ed is not the only member of the band. Perhaps he got "outvoted" by the other band members or his label made the decision FOR THEM to do the RS article and/or other press. There are always compromises. He has every right to wipe his ass with the cover and I don't blame him because I was kind of pissed off that the band wasn't on the cover with him, too.

    Exactly!!!

I was worried that this whole media blitz was a bad sign, and I didn't even know how right I was.

Did anyone think any of these things, i.e. RS, MTV, Ticketmaster, etc. have changed just because the band has? I mean seriously, the same machine that's created the buzz of Creed, Ashley Simpson, et all has just magically changed because Pearl Jam decided to 'Get in the Ring' again?!? Seriously?!? Does anyone have any plausible reason why they would have expected these institutions to treat the band with kid gloves, or any differently than they have in the past? Just one.

You can either be in the spotlight or out of it. Personally I preferred them when they were out, but they chose to step back in, and tons of people here defended it, well, you can't change your story now. I don't know about anyone in this thread, but plenty of folks have been defending all this publicity and I'd like to see what all those people are saying now.
I mean I dare you to sing "Black" and not feel it.
    I dare you.
I've tried to phone in "Jeremy" a few times, and it's tough.
    It doesn't work.

Did you happen to read his interview? He certainly did not come off as an unwilling participant. Get over it folks. This isn't "small man vs. giant corp." This is a band who is choosing to once again put their asses on the line. And using magazines to wipe is just Ed's M.O.

I guess I pretty mush agree with that.

I don't think he was forced to do the interview, I don't know the whole cover picture issue/interview, maybe he wanted the whole band with him on the cover? maybe not, but I'm sure mr vedder knows that if you play with the devil, you will probably get burned.

He chose to do the inerterview and maybe they screwed him a bit?
    Who knows.

this has been rehashed a bit in various threads, but from what ed apparently said last night, RS wanted to shoot a solo portrait of him to be on the cover, and he said no. He only shot the band pics, because he wanted the whole band on the cover.

So RS just used an action shot of him and put him on the cover by himself.

I kind of say so what. It's a magazine. They reserve the right to make any and all editorial decisions, and ed had to have known that going in. I wouldn't even say they screwed him over as much as just didn't let him dictate their coverage.

Hiya Bri :) Thanks for getting my back. It's true, it's been oft-discussed. I look forward to hearing the whole story, from the ass's...er, uh, horse's mouth when I get a hold of the boot. But I still feel that no matter what, this is what the band has decided, as a WHOLE, to start up again. Publicity, promotion, prostitution. I just hope they're still strong enough to pull through it :)

Maybe it was funny , I wasn't there. But it sound sort of silly to me.
