New Ticket Lottery system thoughts

I, for one, think it's AWESOME! The current system is just an unfair lottery anyways in regards to who is able to progress through all the broken screens in order to get tickets. All this does is give everybody an equal shot at tickets and you no longer need to waste hours/days in front of a computer screen attempting to get tickets.

IMPORTANT RULES

1. Once you enter the drawing, you cannot cancel your submission.

2. By entering the drawing for any show, you are committing to purchase the tickets should your name be drawn.

3. You may enter your name into the drawing for both shows, but be prepared to have your card charged for both, as it's possible your name can be drawn for both shows.

4. You may only enter your name ONCE for each show. Those entering more than once will be disqualified from being selected on January 13th. In the meantime the funds will remain frozen on the card.

5. When filling our the PayPal form you may use a credit card under a different name, but absolutely do not enter an email address different from your Ten Club email address, otherwise you will disqualify yourself from the drawing.

6. Do not share this link. Ten Club will be checking all submissions against an eligible member list. Those not eligible will be automatically eliminated during the January 13th drawing.

  • I like the old way better and we don't know if this is permanent. I think it's a way of keeping the frenzy under control for 2 shows.

    I hope this isn't permanent!

Through the old system I always got my tickets. I doubt this will be the case with the lottery hence I prefer the old system.

What are the arguments against it? That the 10c is conspiring against you to not give you tickets? The fact that this puts everybody on an equal playing field instead of the complete randomness of who can access a broken website is a vast improvement. I never was denied tickets with the old system but I admit it is totally unfair. We are all fans and tech savvyness should not increase one's odds over another.

Plus if anybody should be afraid of Ten Club holding a grudge against themselves it is me.

I'm on the fence on this one. Previously I've always had enough tenacity, that I've always gotten tickets. I've kept trying for hours on end and always come up with a pair. So taking that control out of my hands doesn't feel right.

On the positive this saves all that stress.

A few things I'd like to see addressed:

    1) One pair of tickets per tour? If they are continually selling out of 10c tickets. If they're going to a lottery style system. I don't think creating a situation where someone could see 5 shows, and another person not even seen 1 would be very fair? So I think they really have to look at limiting tickets? Or come up with a complex system where everyone gets in on one pair, then do a 2nd lottery for the leftovers.

    2) How quick can they run the lottery? If it takes so long that no one finds out of they won until after the public onsale, that would suck, as everyone would have to buy tickets on the public sale as backups in case they didn't win (sort of like how the 1998 tour tickets didn't show up in the mail until after the public onsale dates).

It's a step in the right direction, but there are problems.

As several 10C emails - about the wristbands for example - never reached the members, there must be problems with their system. How do we know that our electronic application will reach 10C if we apply for tickets? What if we never get to be in the lottery even if we send an application??
  • to early to say..we need to see this in action..
the good part is they trying to find new more easy ways for members...lets wait

    i'm torn....

i like hitting F5, but at the same time, a lotto is fair for all involved.

although, i'm sure the conspiracy people will be out in full force when they don't get tickets to a show.

Everyone not in favor of a new ticketing system (at least to try it) is a potential sabatoge suspect...

I've got my eyes on you... :shifty:
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.
  • Thank you, 10-C!
I like the new system, it seems fair to me.

The only way for me to know whether I will like the new system is to announce 2012 US tour dates.

    :P

the one thing i would like to see if they use this for a full tour....

let people pick all the shows that they want....and have them rank the shows...

then draw a name, and give them tickets to thier highest ranked shows.....they then become ineligible until everyone has had a chance at a show....if there are still still tickets after the first cycle thru the names, then everybody goes back in, and a name is drawn and that person gets the next highested ranked show that still has tickets.

    just a thought.

I don't like it, but it's purely selfish on my part. I've been more or less fortunate in getting through the ticketing mess, but I also have the luxury of taking part of the day off to get tickets if they announce the onsale date well enough in advance (which I know I shouldn't have to, but I do!). Not many people have this luxury, which is why the lottery is more fair. But I'm certain that my odds are lower getting tickets through the lottery versus through the clusterfuck.

But, maybe I will sprout less grey hairs this way :lol:

Personally, I don't like lotteries. I got tickets the old, way, I got shut out the old way. But no matter what, its not going to make everyone happy.
...got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul...

Only a saboteur would think that way! :o

I like the old way much, much better. You put up the good fight and hopefully you get tickets but at least you have SOME control on it. Plus... I don't like that if you're trying to string together a small trip of shows that you might get one show but not the others. If that happens you're stuck with the one show and can't just call it off. On the old way you could make changes to your plans if the you can't get tickets to shows you want.

Old way... old way... old way... ;)

I don't really know what to think about it to tell you the truth...

I have kind of mastered the old way of pounding at the server. For the Canadian dates I managed to score 10C seats to all 4 shows I was hitting up... but something has to change, cause taking an afternoon off work to accomplish that is ridiculous...

I'm sure it's going to result in just as many (if not more) complaints about the system when some people get "randomly" drawn for every show they apply for and others receive nothing.

Yea, it gives me less control over the situation - but now I don't have to take a day or afternoon off of work to secure tickets which is nice... however I gaurentee you, I'll probably never get to see a show from 10C seats again... I have the absolute worst luck on the planet...

It'll be interesting to see how this flushes out, and if they continue it in the future... It doesn't make a difference to me until they hit the US next year... cause I'm not traveling to the northeast for shows in 2012... if it's not local, I'm not going this year... and well, fat chance they play the south....
