Mt St Helens and Olympic NP are both trips that will take a full day. (They're both roughly a 3 hour drive out of Seattle, and then the same on the return trip). If you've got two days to explore, that's do-able, otherwise I'd trim down to one or the other. Mt Rainier is a lot closer to Seattle than St. Helens, so if you're short on time then I'd recommend going there instead.
Parking at Alki is decent- if it's a nice day, you might have to circle for a few minutes to find a spot, but driving is probably how most people get to the beach. If you have a rental car, I'd just recommend driving. If you get stuck in traffic, remember that it's the same traffic that Ed gets stuck in too :-)rock musik rockar röv.0 -
Driving Directions:
Meet up near the mini Statue of Liberty, which is on the grassy area west of the sandy beach.
http://maps.msn.com/map.aspx?C=47.57911,-122.41055&L=USA&A=12&S=575,470&PN=1869375324&P=%7c47.57911%2c-122.41055%7c1%7c2722+Alki+Ave+SW%2c+Seattle%2c+WA+98116%7cL1%7c&TI=2722+Alki+Ave+SW%2c+Seattle%2c+WA+98116
From Seatac Airport :
Follow signs to I-5 North (they're easy to find)
Take exit 163 (West Seattle Bridge)
From Downtown Seattle:
Follow signs to I-5 South
Take exit 163 (West Seattle Bridge)
As you cross over the bridge, move to the right lanes
Take the "Harbor AVE" exit (NOT Harbor ISLAND!)
Take a right at the stoplight, and follow the park/waterline for about 4 miles.
When you pass the beach/volleyball courts, start looking for parking. The BBQ will be in the area near the Statue of Liberty, which is about 200 yards past the sandy beach area.
By Water Taxi from downtown:
Take the ferry from Pier 55 in downtown ($3). When you reach West Seattle, look for the free shuttle in the parking lot, and ask the driver to let you off when you reach the Statue of Liberty. (Shuttle drivers are very friendly)
Time tables and more info: http://transit.metrokc.gov/tops/oto/water_taxi.html
By Bus:
Board the 56 or 56 Express bus on the southbound direction of 1st Ave in downtown Seattle. Get off at the last stop (Starbucks) and head down to the water/statue. (Bus is $1.50, exact change)
Bus Schedule: http://transit.metrokc.gov/tops/bus/schedules/s056_0_.html

The Sound Garden is at Magnusson Park, btw. There's a cool 1992 poster of Eddie that was taken there during a free show!rock musik rockar röv.0 -

Sweet! Maybe the M's will actually win some games if there's fewer people watching the games- maybe they're getting stage freight or something : )rock musik rockar röv.0 -
We (my two friends and I) are planning on coming, but their flight doesn't get in until about 7...so, we probably wouldn't be there until 8:30-9???

I imagine that we'll still be around, but give a call just in case- my number is discretely concealed in the first post. :-)rock musik rockar röv.0
