This album just keeps getting better with each spin. I love these guys."I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."

I've heard/read this a few times. What is it exactly that is not good about them? Short sets? Don't sound good? I'm excited to see them, but not trying to get my expectations to high because of poor reviews.
I have heard that the Arctic Monkeys are great though. Looking forward to seeing them.
Saw them last year, right before Brothers came out at Brown University's Spring weekend (I had a leak of the album, so was familiar) but they didnt play any Brothers songs. They were QUIET. I could easily talk to the person next to me, which is not my idea of a rock concert. I've heard other people say that they play really loud, but I was not witness to that. The crowd was not into it at all, which may have had an affect on the show, it was the last day of their Spring weekend and all, but, if anything I think that would have made them play even harder!
Funny thing is, we were really going to see TBK, but the student we bought out tix off of made us take a package deal - MGMT tix for the day before too. MGMT showed TBK up big time and put on an awesome show. I didnt like them as much till I saw them live...so Im really glad we got to see MGMT too, so the weekend wasnt a complete bust.
Im guessing they'll have a phantom bass player this time around though. It was just Dan & Patrick when I saw them last year, so that should help...they'll need it to fill the arenas. Wish I got another shot at a small club show, but wasnt too familiar w/ them before last year. I hope they debunk all the bad reviews though - for those prices, you better get a good show!Mansfield, MA - Jul 02, 2003; Mansfield, MA - Jul 03, 2003; Mansfield, MA - Jul 11, 2003; Boston, MA - Sep 29, 2004; Reading, PA - Oct 01, 2004; Hartford, CT - May 13, 2006; Boston, MA - May 24, 2006; Boston, MA - May 25, 2006; Hartford, CT - Jun 27, 2008; Mansfield, MA - Jun 28, 2008; Mansfield, MA - June 30, 2008; Hartford, CT - May 15, 2010; Boston, MA - May 17, 2010; [EV - Providence, RI - June 15, 2011; EV - Hartford, CT - June 18, 2011]; Worcester, MA - Oct. 15, 2013; Worcester, MA - Oct. 16, 2013; Hartford, CT - Oct. 25, 2013; Boston, MA - August 5, 2016; Boston, MA - August 7, 2016...0 -

As far as The Black Keys live I think they are very energetic. First time was when Attack & Release came out I saw them at the Electric Factory. I thought they were good. Except I didn't really knew any of the songs they played (at the time only had Magic Potion and Attack/Release). Second time was last summer at Penn's Landing and saw them this past summer at the Outside Lands Festival. I thought they rocked the shit of the park.
I've been an Arctic Monkeys fan longer than a Black Keys. Arctic Monkeys are also good live. Johnny you didn't like their first albumThat's probably their best album. So if you don't like that you may not like their other albums.

I was at that show too! While I was out visiting my brother in Boston, I was able to catch a last minute release in the 4th row. Loved that show. Couldn't believe two guys were cranking out that much sound. Really enjoyed the last two albums but miss the days of strictly two piece.jervin007 wrote:

My thoughts exactly. Love these two records as much if not more as their others, but will always miss it as just a two piece. Even though I never officially saw them as such. First time I saw them was opening for Pearl Jam.Formerly Brew Crew Tix

Just got done watching their set from KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas show here in LA. It was awesome to hear the new stuff live. I realize it's a radio show but their set didn't include anything prior to Brothers. Just hope they don't forget about those 5 albums now that they've gained in popularity thanks to Brothers and El Camino (Both great IMO).
Those two piece shows were awesome and what drew me to them initially. That Boston show and then seeing them own the main stage at Coachella in '09. It took a few shows behind Brothers, simply due to a couple places with sound issues, but finally saw a set where I felt they killed it with Brothers stuff and older songs which was at Outside Lands this year. Looking forward to them touring next year.Brew Crew Tix wrote:

Yeah, great show. I pulled about 10 rows back and center in the Ticketmaster sale. Crazy how easy it was to get tickets to their shows a few years back. Amazing show. Also caught them at Bonnaroo in 2006, but I was very unfamiliar with them at the time.
I guess its good that rock bands are getting recognition these days though.
Around that time I also pulled 3rd row KOL tickets at the Orpheum, while they were supporting Because of the Times......back when they kicked major ass.PJ:
