We just got our sound, now we have to go in another direction." That song was and still is ahead of its time.

That is a good way to put it. I'm not going to argue Beatles quality, but they are too mellow for me (yeah I know some of the songs rock more), and I personally enjoy listening to Pearl Jam way more. From the 60's I like the Who better. It's almost pointless to argue taste.

I agree it is pointless to argue taste, but it is clear by the preponderance of evidence (how the Beatles changed with each album, how universally influential they were for music to follow them, popularity, etc....) that The Beatles and Stones are greater bands than Pearl Jam. The Stones can still play football stadiums in the US 50 years after they've started the band. That is greatness that PJ couldn't sustain after 6 years.

Love me some Rubber Soul. It's hard for me to just listen to one song at a time. I HAVE to listen to it as a whole. EX: If my IPOD is on shuffle, etc. and one of the songs pops up when I'm running or studying, I'll go back and play the whole thing. It's just so complete.

I'm the same way with that album. It's my favorite album of all-time. I normally get stuck when "Norwegian Wood" comes on.

:thumbup: Same here. I turn 21 in February, so hoping I can go to Vegas and finally see that show. My dad would love to see it also. My uncle saw it during opening weekend and said the seats have speakers in them.

While My Guitar... is beautiful with the strings on that version.

I've always been a huge fan of "A Hard Days Night". I watched it a lot when I was a kid, with my dad's VHS tape of it. One time, I watched the whole thing before going to school; I was really young, maybe 2nd or 3rd or 4th grade. Help! was good to me, although I found it weird but still loved it. Me and my dad's favorite scene from that movie is them in the studio recording "You're Going to Lose That Girl". Such an awesome scene with all the smoke in the studio.

We were born too late dude...we missed the Beatles and couldn't fully appreciate Seinfeld when it was originally on the air (my fav show of all time and I'm guessing you agree by your avatar).

I see from the rest of the thread that you have already ordered ONE...but I feel something else should be said here. So I'll say it.

As someone else mentioned, the Beatles are absolute legend. But this is not only because their music was good. Yes...it was good - still is good, in fact. But almost as important is The Beatles historical context: The Beatles did not just make good music. They CHANGED music, and changed it in ways that we are still reaping the benefits of today. If you look at the pre-Beatles music scene, you have people like Buddy Holly, Chubby Checker, and Elvis. I don't know how much you have listened to of these guys and their bands...but trust me when I say that The Beatles were a DRAMATIC change from that. The Beatles were like nothing anyone had ever heard before.

Put it this way: Take the way the entire music universe changed after Nirvana's Nevermind became a hit...multiply that by about a factor of ten, and you have the historical impact this ONE band generated. The Beatles quite literally changed the world.

So it's not just their music, and how it sounds now. Just as important is the fact that if it hadn't been for The Beatles, whatever sort of rock you do love might never have even existed.

One other thing to add: they were innovators in the studio and came up with a lot of recording techniques that bands and artists have been using since The Beatles.

Another funny scene. I always liked the part with them playing that game on the ice (can't remember the name) and then it explodes and you see the swimmer ask for directions.

We may have been, but we still enjoy the music and movies. My uncle grew up perfectly with them, so I always talk to him about The Beatles and ask what it was like after listening to an album when it came out. He said whenever their albums were released, it was like an event.

One of my favorite shows, but I do absolutely love it.

I forgot how many parts it is, but it's a great watch. Love the Anthology. My favorite documentary. You'll love the George movie; Scorsese did a great job on it.
