  • I never understand people like godfather who displays his boorish homophobia and then when called out on it, acts like it's a big joke.

His treatment of this subject, through humor, is a classical defense mechanism that he's unconsciously using to protect his ego. More precisely, when the id impulses (latent homosexual desire) conflict with super-ego values and beliefs (Christian stigma regarding homosexuality as evil), this is an external threat that is posed to the ego. Humor is his style of defense. Psychology 101.

Homosexuality aside, why wouldn't you want people who willingly signed up for the military to be able to serve?
I know there are alot of latent issues involved here, but honestly I think it (the specific question you posed) has alot to do with how gays are so commonly portrayed in movies and TV (cough Sex and the City cough). I don't care if they're into dudes or chicas, I wouldn't want any of the guys on that show next to me in the heat of battle. Jasun, on the other hand, well he's just mean, so that'd be fine by me. haha

Was it hard to come out to your family? And please forvige me if my question is too personal

I didn't get the chance. My sister outer me to get revenge on me for being my parent's favorite.

To be fair, my sister is an insufferable c*nt and my parents liked me better because she's an insufferable c*nt. So outing me didn't really work, it just made her look like even more of an insufferable c*nt than she already did.
and the crowd discredits Godfather after these remarks... alrighty then

how incredibly disrespectful these statements are ... rather telling to me as a woman
terrible word to call even your worse enemy.

And if parents are obviously playing favorites there is more problems than we know for you
I am sorry for that part the most ... parents are the unity that holds the family together.

On subject... the current changes in the military will hopefully
be a positive for all serving and those they are protecting...
much respect to all our service men and women.

how does Prince's story of (I'm guessing here) a traumatic life experience have anything to do with Godfather being a homophobic bigot? It's the ol' "my hair is a bird, your argument is invalid" fallacy of logic.

Because he uses the word "cunt" he is disrespectful to you, personally? It's a word. Get over yourself.

It is more than a word it is an insult to women but more telling on how he feels about women.

I guess it is ok to call women names then... I think not...I think disrespect is disrespect in my book
whether that is against gays or women or whomever

that is the whole point ... how can you jump on Godfather and not the Op for his obvious bigotry.

Not about me just want everyone to see the hate they share on this board
  • Pandora... I didn't call you or all women a "c*nt."

I called my obnoxious, self-centered and selfish bratty sister a c*nt. I can't think of another word that fits.

This is the person who threw a huge fit that I wouldn't be an usher at her wedding (when she'd been living with the guy for years but threatened me if I told the grandparents because they were going to "buy us new stuff for our new home) and then sat there with a satisfied look on her face when I sat in the front row and the minister said during the ceremony (at my sister's insistence, by the way) that it's not "a real marriage unless there are children."

This is a person who's gone out of her way to "get even" with me for our parents being closer with me when the distant relationship she has with them is her own fault... her selfish, rude and totally irrational behavior for most of her life made it impossible to even like her much. Every family event would turn into a huge argument if she didn't get her way... she would bulldoze over the whole family and throw outrageous and embarrassing temper tantrums if people didn't do as she said... If you can think of a word that better describes her, I'm all ears.

And it has zero to do with the topic at hand. I don't find it surprising that you desperately look for a way to get upset. It's part of your... modus operandi.

Actually... no... I think he's right about you.

You get yourself worked up into a big pool of Santorum every time the subject of gay anything comes up. You go out of your way to make bizarre, meaningless statements like "I don't agree with it" or "I don't like it" but refuse to explain what you mean by that.

And you seem to use a lot of girly gay references like "cupcake" and "fruit cake" which only the deeply-closeted men use.

Just come out, Godfather... you'll feel much better.

No I get upset when you call your sister that ... sorry it is rude and offensive and
any person with a heart would not do that no matter what.

Most especially you who says they have been abused by intolerance...
you of all brothers should know how words hurt especially coming from loved ones.

And you should know forgiveness and be tolerant and understanding...
it is what you want in this world for all.... yes? for your fellow gays.

I can imagine how she would feel... no wonder your relationship is broken.

Takes two to love and to fix and you could be the better man and start now
by not calling her terrible derogatory names and know that the past can not be changed only the future.

And we are all working on that hopefully

  • yes, let's shield our hateful statements about gay people with our sancrosanct views of the word CUNT. Prince doesn't "have a heart" because he used that word? WOW.

Who cares? What is important is our intention of the use of the word. No one here is using it to describe a group of people. No one here is saying it to offend anyone else here. But it is somehow more important than other people's outright racial bigotry and hate speech.

congrats on the USA for catching up to many other countries in the world. now if only you guys could work on all the other rights that the LGBT community are facing concerning discrimination that would be great.
  • Is calling a guy an asshole, dickhead, or son of a bitch make you hate all men?
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

Is calling a guy an asshole, dickhead, or son of a bitch make you hate all men?
I'm afraid you missed my point

he called his sister that ... very disrespectful and intolerant of family

this it seems from his explanation, he did because he judges her as living her life wrong...
something he can not adjust to, she is displaying behavior he can not admire
and he refuses to open his heart and forgive or tolerate such behavior.

I don't see that as being so different than people who can not or will not
adjust how they feel towards gays? They feel it is wrong... that they are living their lives wrong
and do not want to say it is ok when they do not believe it to be so.

How can a gay person hope to help change this if they can not be an example
in their own lives. They are asking for something they can not give.
Many people it seems can not either.

Everyone knows how to demand change in others but don't see the need in themselves...
    right?

So why should those people who are not politically correct have to change
and grow to be better people when others do not have to.

cast no stones... and live and let live this everyone can do
everyone learns eventually all in good time

Godfather has been honest and to the point in many threads about how he feels
and what he believes. It is no new news, neither the arguing and name calling
    on everyone's part.

I have been blessed during my life to love many gay people this has opened my eyes and heart.

One thing about Godfather he does not intentionally hurt others. His heart is big
and his experience has lead to how he feels which is his right.

As far as gays openly admitting they are gay in the military, I don't know the cons.
I see one if everyone is forced to do so and they are not comfortable doing that.
And if not openly gay what are the repercussions for those who choose to remain in the closet.
I think there may be more but I don't know how the military works... never been in it.

I will fight... have fought along side gays for their personal rights to be who they are

we all deserve that and love and acceptance ... even crappy sisters
