    Hi everyone,

Here is the site where I posted my photos from the first row (the later ones are better as I got used to what my camera could do).

    http://gallery.me.com/agauthiermdphd#100009

Check out the pregnant lady (sorry that I forgot your name) with the setlist signed by Mike and the pictures of the crowd.

I will add a photo of my Expo/PJ T-shirt (very cool for a quebecois) in the next few days.

    Hope you like them.

  • I would like to extend a HUGE WTF to the folks in section 112, for about 5 rows in front of row C (probably around 30 people or so), who sat through 90% of the show. They were the ONLY people sitting in the whole joint.

These people are supposedly 10 Clubbers. Do everyone a favor and don't attend any more shows. You are a complete waste of space at a Pearl Jam gig. This isn't the opera. I was thoroughly embarrassed for all of you.

Really, how the fuck do you sit through Corduroy, Insignificance, DTE and Porch??? Oh, but they got right up for Even Flow, Black and Betterman...way to represent.

I understand that everyone is different and everyone does their own thing, but come the fuck on. This band is up there giving EVERYTHING to you; it's your fuckin duty to give it right back to them.

    Yeah....lol

It sounds like he was pretty impressed with the band. He wasn't too impressed with Mudhoney though.

Did you seriously email him and complain about his article? You're embarrassing us! Don't ruin the good impression he got of PJ and their fans.

MAD PROPS to PearlDrummer, who sat directly behind me. 18 years fuckin old and rocked his tits off. New Yorkers behind me also rocked all night. Thank you guys for setting a good example for everyone :D

Oh, the band was ON FIRE. Get ready for some SHOWS Canada!!!

It was actually row B. I was in row C. It does suck that they were sitting, but honestly I was more annoyed by the behind me in row D who kept screaming at them in my ear (and tried very badly to out-sing Ed...).....I was more focused on enjoying the awesome concert than wasting time wondering who's not dancing.

Awesome concert! One of the best I've seen in mtl; next to '98

High 5 on the performance, energy by the band last night, they were on fire ! Thanks you guys again :)
Eddie was goodwill gesture, good spirits, feeling the vibe of the North of the Border...playing with Lukin plate, taking care of crowd around...
First time , i saw Mike with a Ridenbacher guitar during "Corduroy" !

Weird loud audience, not very "into it" concerning recent songs but they enjoyed classics.
During the 1st encore, crowd were definitly not into it until "Black"....

It was my 11th Pearl Jam and i was a bit in shock about we have to wait to the 16th song of the night for a Ten song (Why Go)...

Highlights of the night : Hail Hail, Comeback, Setting Forth, The Fixer, Glorified G, Sleight of hand (he nailed the lyrics but nice return !), Why go, Crazy mary, Given to Fly.

the "low light" of the night : Typical setlist for a "hard to die" fan like me. No element of surprise. No pre-set (!?)... Small Town is really not an opening song also... A very good show point blank.

Thanks Mudhoney for the 1st song of the night with "the money will roll right in" (Nirvana did that one often during Europe 1992 tour)
Cant wait to see a picture of the last night setlist to compare !

    Thanks 10C for floor row u !

Im going to Toronto 1,2 and Ottawa ... Hope for much more surprises !

  • What a night. It was my third time seeing them (after Philly 1 and MSG 1). In no way did I care about having to drive 6 hours back to school last night, in the pouring rain, landing in bed at 5:30, and waking up for an 8 am class. 100% worth it.

The band never ceases to impress me--nor did the crowd!! The energy absolutely matched MSG 1 (can't judge MSG 2 since I painfully missed out on it). Finally got a couple of the big hits: given to fly, betterman, and ledbetter--loved amongst the waves--and nearly lost it when they broke into Glorified G, that one has always been a favorite of mine. Got Last Exit, Corduroy, and Hail Hail for the 2nd time each, THRILLED. Never get tired of hearing Black, either, and the sing-along was outstanding. Got a kick out of Eddie goofing up Sleight of Hand, but it was great to see that they kept rolling and he, of course, recovered.

Why Go, Porch, and Crazy Mary were ON FIRE.

Also, I'm incredibly jealous of whoever has that Lukin license plate. It was beautiful.

I've loved this band since the moment I first heard them, and I'm growing to love them more and more every day. Hope to see them in the states next year. From a forum near-rookie, cheers.

You seriously need to get a reality check. Pearl Jam is one of the few bands out there that still mixes up their setlists big time. Go to a concert of some band that has been around this long or longer and you will literally see the exact saem show every time. One of my favorite bands is still Cheap Trick but if you go to a Cheap Trick show not only is it the EXACT same songs in the EXACT same order they even tell the saem stupid jokes in the exact same place. It's so rehearsed and canned it's not even fun anymore. You CANNOT say that about Pearl Jam. They make a legit effort to give a great and unique show on every stop of the tour. So far they've played three shows this tour and not a single one has been remotely the same. Oh and for the record Even Flow, Alive and YLB were not played night 1 at AV and neither was RITFW. So not sure where you come up with this BS.... That said do they play Alive or Betterman or one or two others alot, yes they do, but remember they are playing gigs where the overwhleming MAJORITY of the fans in attendance are differnt people and they want to give THOSE fans a great show and give THOSE fans the songs they want to hear. They aren't going to cater to a spoiled few who follow the band all around the country like drones and then complain because 3 songs were the same, no they are goingg to cater to the 19,000+ in attanedance who will only see them at that one stop on the tour. My goodness get over it...

How was Setting Forth predictable (it's been played by the band exactly twice now in their entire history, this show being the 2nd)? Or even having that song flow into Corduroy (regardless of whether Corduroy is or isn't predicatable) THat seems new and exciting.

Or how was Glorified G followed by 1/2 full predictable?

Or the entire first enore, that seemed like a great and rare first encore?

I've been to about the same number of shows as you and probably just as big a fan, not sure how you can call this stuff typical or predictable. I seriously don't get it?

Sorry for your pain and discomfort goldenegg (I'm sure you give your all at shows until it bothers you too much), but these cats were selective rockin. Its a real problem and it sucks.

In my book, (How to Rock for Dummies and Lifeless Individuals) this is borderline disrespectful. Just my opinion, you're entitled to yours.

They are the same 'people' that were sitting in the balcony at the Orpheum in '94. Give the boot a listen and tell me, was Ed "way out of line" for screaming at those pussies to stand/get up???

The answer is no. Like I said before, the band is up there giving it all to us; give it back to them or stay home. It's that simple.

One person sat, then they all did. These people were NOT amped to be there. It was a bunch of couples playing patty-cake, not physically handicapped people, dude.

BTW, Why would you put yourself through the pain of a show if it's that bad? Is it really worth the pain and discomfort? Why not get a seat in the  handicapped section? It sounds as if your ailment might justify this....no?

Here is the site where I posted my photos from the first row (the later ones are better as I got used to what my camera could do).

    http://gallery.me.com/agauthiermdphd#100009

Check out the pregnant lady (sorry that I forgot your name) with the setlist signed by Mike and the pictures of the crowd.

I will add a photo of my Expo/PJ T-shirt (very cool for a quebecois) in the next few days.

    Hope you like them.

    Alain

Awesome pics, I love Matt's kickdrum.... looks like a kindergarten class' artwork.

Or how was Glorified G followed by 1/2 full predictable?

Or the entire first enore, that seemed like a great and rare first encore?

I've been to about the same number of shows as you and probably just as big a fan, not sure how you can call this stuff typical or predictable. I seriously don't get it?[/quote]

1- Setting Forth wasn't predictable, it was request by Matt Cameron to put that one on the setlist before the show started mentionned By Ed before the song began.
2- Boston 2 2008 as reference because i was there probably..
3- Down (Mtl 2003, 2005 and 2011 !? not my favorite though), Black , Porch, Yellow ledbetter (2000, 2005, 2011) for the closer...that why it is predictable...but it is not bad, it is not the case, i expected the unexpected ...i will get it maybe in Toronto or Ottawa ! Who knows?

So Setting forth was a surprise then...... as opposed to "no surprises"

So you found 1 show out of 700 where Glorified G and 1/2Fulll were played back to back (or let alone even pllayed) and then you found a few other shows where a song was played. Agree to disagree I guess, I know you aren't saying they sucked but you and I have very different versions of the word "predictable" as I've never seen the combos you saw nor have I seen a bunch of those songs live. Again this is the reason the band does repeat some stuff though because there are tens of thousands of us that haven't seen it before.... Just sayin....

  • BTW, Why would you put yourself through the pain of a show if it's that bad? Is it really worth the pain and discomfort? Why not get a seat in the  handicapped section? It sounds as if your ailment might justify this....no?

When you live with this kind of stuff day to day, it just becomes part of everyday life and you just go on living. Luckily I can still do everything I always have, even if I don't feel great most of the time. I love music and will attend shows until my final days. Most of the time you'll find me jumping about and singing my heart out, like all the other fans. Body be damned ... it's not going to stop me from living :D

What got me upset about your original post what the 'but they don't look sick' type of attitude. Most people automatically think that someone needs to look sick for something to be wrong, but it's really not the case.

Not a single mention. He said several times that Montreal was the start of the tour, which I guess is technically true, but it was a little strange. I figured he would make a reference or two.

Living is the only way to go man. I suffer from a rare stomach disease called Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome (CVS) that has kept me from shows in the past and have actually had to leave 2 of my 30 PJ shows due to my illness.

I'm very sorry that my original post came across as it did....because like you, I appear to be healthy, but have had my ass kicked by this disease for the past 13 years.

Again, sorry for any inconsiderate comments I may have made....KEEP ROCKIN!!! :D
