I like John Denver and I'm not ashamed to say it...

There... it's out there. I feel so much better now.

I was listening to some John Denver on my way into work this morning and I think that some of his songs are really great. He seemed like a cool dude...his story is a sad one. Any guy that hung out with the muppets is OK in my book. I'd rather hang out with the muppets more than some of the people that I know.

So I was thinking that it would sound cool if Pearl Jam covered "Leaving on a Jet Plane" towards the end of one of there shows. It just seems to me that most of the people that post here on the board share like a long distance love affair with the band and a lot of John Denver's songs touch on the sorrow and heartbreak of relationships.

Anyway, I like some of his tunes. I thought that I'd try and spice up this exceedingly dull thread with something different this morning. It is sort of on the topic...maybe...a little. I mentioned "Leaving on a Jet Plane" and you all have been discussing airfare to Washington state.

"Goodbye Again" would be great towards the end of a Pearl Jam set as well.

I'm really excited for Camden, more so then any of the other shows I'm seeing. Long holiday weekends suit Pearl Jam concerts.

FANCH I also love Popeye's Chicken. My college roomate was from New Orleans and he turned me on to all kinds of great food. As a company policy, the fryer oil is changed on Wednesdays...once a week and on Wednesdays. Don't eat there on Tuesdays. This is the truth and comes from a reliable source. Food is good, the spicier the better.
    JOHN DENVER ROCKS!!!!!!!!!

    Yep, traffic was HORRIBLE.

It goes a few weeks without rain here and the first rush hour with rain everyone panics and gets in car accidents.

took me 20 minutes.. only 5 minutes more than usual :D
People still do not know how to drive on wet asphalt though... and it was an enjoyable evening watching the afformentioned judge/NE/ghettobanger-wannabes drive by my house and slam the front of their car into the ever growing hole in front of my house while enjoying an icy cold beer and a cigar. Unfortunately my fun will be short lived since the city is going to fill and fix the hole this week :(

I'm working at home today - it's a beautiful day out, and with gas being $3 a gallon, I'll just work at home for a few days. Go in maybe once or twice a week.

It's going to suck bad driving to Philly three times the week of Memorial Day - I can't even imagine what gas is going to be like then.

I really hate people complaining about gas prices.

I mean when you think about all that goes into digging for oil, transporting it, refining it, making it into fuel, and then transporting it really is amazing that people are mad it's like 3 dollars a gallon. It's not as easy as sticking a plastic bottle under a tap and charging people 1.39 for bottled water.

Would I love it to be .89 a gallon like it was a few years ago in South Jersey? Of course, I would. But I'm not going to cut back on driving because of gas prices and I'm not going to change my lifestyle or complain about it.

For some unknown reason, that song used to bring the house down on Tuesday nights at my old bar I bartended at in college. Now why a bunch of waspy and jappy kids mainly from Long Island and the NY Tri-state area would go nuts when the Acoustic Folk singer on Tuesday nights would play "Country Roads" is still beyond me.

(P.S. Sorry if the above statement was not politically correct, but I really hated the clientele at my old bar, but I really put on a good face and pretended to like them and made about 250 a night in tips from them.)

    They are high because:

    1) international tension
    2) China's 2 billion are driving more
    3) We're getting hosed because they know that we'll keep buying regardless of cost. It's not a free market.

I agree.. I think gas prices could be slightly lower but nothing of any significance. Costs are high in every industry and they seem higher in the oil industry for whatever reason. But that isn't going to change my driving or vacation habits. I mean I'm probably still going to rent an SUV for the Philly shows.. fuck it. Just have to suck it up and deal.

I agree with you. I just think prices were abnormally low a few years ago. And I think the prices are high more so to the demand coming from the emerging economies of India and China then from international tensions, but that's just my opinion. (I mean it's not like the Middle East ever liked us.)

I wouldn't say I'm complainig - I'm quite content working from home. I can save myself a few bucks by not having to get gas each week, works for me.

However, when gas was only $2 a gallon a month ago, and now it's well over $3 in a lot of areas, I think everyone has a legitimate reason to complain about it. Especially when you live in an area that is so congested that on an average day, it takes you over an hour to drive 10 miles. Thats a lot of gas being wasted from just sitting or stop and go. So if I want to complain or decide to work at home and not drive everyday, I have that right.
