A Good Investment:
"If you purchased $1,000 of shares in American Airlines one year ago, you would have $49.00 today. If you purchased $1,000 of shares in AIG, you would have $33.00 today. If you purchased $1,000 of shares in Lehman Brothers, you would have $0.00 today. But, if you purchased $1,000 worth of beer, drank all the beer, turned in the aluminum cans for recycling, you would have $214.00. Therefore, the best current investment plan is to drink heavily & recycle. It is called the 401-Keg Plan."0 -

actually
AMR would be worth ~530
AIG ~608
Lehman ~572
drinking budweiser 24 pack cans from binny's at 14.99 + tax would yeild roughly 363 in cash, assuming each can is half an ounce of alluminum and you can sell it for 50 cents per pound
i'm just going to assume your numbers are old, as lehman went from big bucks to pennies. last year it was at 7 cents per share81 is now off the air0 -
30 yr fixed rate...4.25% with NO FEES.
....other places lower than that. nuts.
i know, i know, that's no the stock market but the two are intertwined. been doing this 10 years and i'm amazed every time i've priced out a loan these past 2 weeks. it's incredible how low these rates are.www.myspace.com0 -

on a 30 yr?.....paying about 2 pts for that here. might find some places with 1.5 pts.
depending on your situation, though, that could certainly be worth it.www.myspace.com0 -

i'll never quite get the concept of paying to borrow. i just don't get how auto loans can be so damn simple, but you do a home loan and you have 86 pages of shit, and 57 fee's :roll:81 is now off the air0 -
My financial planner sent out an email today about this stuff...
Interest rates for a 30-year fixed rate mortgage are now 4.25%, APR 4.3218
Interest rates for a 15-year fixed rate mortgage are now 3.375%, APR 3.5545
Interest rates for a 10-year fixed rate mortgage are now 3.25%, APR 3.4086
When interest rates are this low, it makes sense to refinance and even consider going from a 30-year to a 15-year mortgage. In some cases, if you drop to a 15-year mortgage, your payment may remain the same as it is now, depending on your current rate. However, your principal payment may quadruple.0 -

look at it this way: i work for the mafia. there's always gonna some juice.
you don't have to pay points obviously but the bank's gonna get you either in a higher rate or higher fees. for points to make sense, it all depends on your break even point and how long you're staying in the house, yada, yada, yada...everyone wins with rates this low right now though.
bond's down slightly....rates might dip again today
edit: and regarding all the fucking pages you have to sign? blame your federal government. anyone who has seen the new good faith estimate as opposed to the old one knows what i'm talking about. they tried to make it more "user friendly." only the government can take a one page, relatively simple, piece of paper and spread it out into 4 pages and call it more "user friendly."www.myspace.com0 -
