Unfortunately, the guy is ACTUALLY a conservative, and not a conservative when it's convenient (unlike the rest of the GOP) so he won't.

He's the only one who has a Brain looking for the Nomination

I'm left of center, And I'd vote for him. It's so easy to tell if someone is giving lip service or truly wants to fight for the majority

All the others are full of shit fighting for 1 or 2% of Americans

I am a huge fan of Ron Paul, and think he's starting to get traction: http://www.theatlanticwire.com/entertainment/2011/08/jon-stewart-ron-paul/41311/

Nevertheless, I think picking on Romney for this was just dumb. He meant corporations are made up of people, and in that sense, he's right. There's so many more worthwhile issues to discuss than this one.

how is it fair when corporations can now give unlimited amounts of money for political races? they have the ability to buy and sell politicians at will.

Who decides what's "fair" and what's not fair? Fairness is incredibly subjective.

Regardless, your point has nothing to do with what I said.

i accidently quoted you instead of hitting reply....

but how is it remotely a level playing field when a candidate can raise a million bucks in small private donations and a corporation with unlimited resources can come in and give his opponent 3 million? that person is then beholden to that corporation's interests. it taints the system.

My original reply stands... a level playing field is very, very subjective. What is exactly level? Is it only level if your side has the advantage? Who's the judge?

I think your comment here is an ideological one, more than "looking out for the good of the system". That said, I came in here to comment on the simple fact that corporations are made up of people and that is 100% true. I also believe there's more important things to discuss than semantics.

i'm not surprised that you don't see anything wrong with that scenario i gave. the corporations will spend an unmatchable amount of money to make sure their guy gets elected and they will slander their opponent mercilessly. only a corporate candidate can win anymore.

Most corporations have to careful as evidenced by Target's decision last year to donate $150K to a guy running in Minnesota for governor. I'm sure they spent 100 times that in public relations clean up, plus all the lost revenue from those that boycotted the store.

I'm with you that they should not be able to make mass donations, but it appears that the free market may keep them in check. The last thing you want to due is face a boycott by 35% of America if you are running a company for profit. Especially true in the current media age of Facebook and Twitter.

This is one reason why I am voting for Ron Paul. Corporations hate him. Its funny how liberals can bash this decision, but yet still vote for Obama despite all of the special interest money he receives.

Corporations are a group of people, that make a product or supply a service for a profit.

    That's how people have jobs.

Don't buy the Kenyan Marxist's class warfare bullshit.

Without corporations, we'd all be fucked.

Without government, we'd all be free.

Without gov't bailing out corporations and giving them handouts, we'd all be better off.

Free in what way? who would pay the police, the military that you want to keep funded for. I understand you don't like government but be honest, you would be the opposite of free if you had no government.

He was asked a direct question and gave a direct answer. Isn't that what we want from elected officials?

YES. If they fail, they fail. The market will replace them.

    Limited gov't.

We are living in soft tyranny.

Don't say that the only options we have are this mess or anarchy. That's the last groat of gov't tit-suckers.

i think a level playing field would be a ban on corporate donations, or donations from rich fatcats to political candidates.

Can't the same be said about 'Government'? Isn't Government made up of people, too? Not just politicians (similar to CEOs and executive officers), but regular working stiffs, like secretaries, security officers, park rangers, etc... they are all people... right?

When I hear "Corporations are a group of people", I think-- yeah, but which people? I wonder if when those who say corporations are a group of people do they really mean co-operatives? My small business is a co-operative. Hey, and I'm not even a Marxist! Our co-operative is a group of people who work together on equal footing. And not to promote myself or anything, but I really do think people like us more than corporations!

And I like what keeponrockin said about Ron Paul being ACTUALLY a conservative and not just one when it's convenient. Old school conservatives actually believe in things like, well, conserving. Not all bad if you know what I mean. And you heard that from a left-leaning kind of guy.
