Hey there everybody, I found a really cool link on you tube 8-) . I'm not sure how to post the link. So go to You tube and type in Eddie Vedder meet and greet the wiltern 2011. My wife and I met him after the concert the venue before this one :P :P . The experience was amazing :D . This video brought back the memories. For anyone who has done this or for people who have always imagined how it would be. This is definitely worth checking out. :D:D Does anybody have a memory of this tour they would like to share. :D Hope you enjoy this.

Well I sure as hell enjoyed the link as I was the first hand he shaked down on the far end. Unfortunately most fans aren't shown but we know who we are. After Jesse the bodyguard told us that he may or may not shake our hand I told myself that if he gets anywhere near me I am going to reach out like nobodies business. Ed said that he didn't want to get too close for fear of the crowd crushing me/us but I wasn't having it. After 19 years of following the band I finally thought I might get to meet Ed after hearing about all the meets after the shows and at 1am that night my journey came full circle. I was staying at the hotel right across the street from the Wiltern so I was ready to stay out there all night or at least until the bus left. I was amazed at how small Ed is. I always knew he was but seeing him in person was quite revealing. How the hell does such power come from such a small package. Amazing.

    he's so friggin adorable.

I can't see myself hanging out for hours after a show, but that was cool to watch. Thanks, glad you had the opportunity.

I too have loved this man for 20 years.

But I feel no need to meet him. I know my old bod wouldn't last another 2+ hours after a show
so it might be a mute point now anyways

Truly though it might not make sense to others
but I feel so close to him
there is just no need to shake his hand and say thank you ...
    somehow I feel he knows...
that I and we all thank him and love him dearly.

I do sneak peeks at the you tube greetings and will now track down yours.

I know how much it meant to you... congratulations!... and how much I will enjoy that! :D

I definitely think he's right around 5'5". Small guy but wow such an amazing presence. You could actually feel the air change when he approached his fans. It was truly amazing. :D

    I met him twice

Once before the 2nd United palace show in NYC , while I was walking to get Dominican food at El Conde

And last month before Letterman, had my Uke CD just in case as I've met other celebs prior to the Letterman show.... He graciously signed it and we had a few words

Both times he was as nice as can be, real class act

We feel that you only live once and PJ is a great love of ours. People have all different types of hobbies. Well PJ is ours. This year we'll be seeing Eddie twice. Once in Long Beach and we'll be traveling half way across the earth it seems to be a part of the PJ20 deal. Plus we're not rich so we are having to nickel and dime it the whole way here. Hopefully with any luck we can get our plane tickets soon. Have a great day.

Thank you so much for relaying your experience. We were first in line as well and man was it worth it. His body guard had quite the mouth on him but again he is there to do a job and protect Eddie from all the  crazy  people out there. What I liked about the experience was when it was your turn in the line-up Eddie sincerely focused only on you and only you. That right there seemed to make the two hour wait all worth it in the end. We saw Cameron Crowe out near his buses he waved a few times. I heard Tim Robbins was in the audience somewhere. What a night. :D . Have a great day. :)

Wow, very kind words. I as well have really enjoyed the 20 years of incredible music. So much that I told myself that if I ever got a chance to meet him that I would write him a letter. You know just thanking him for the years well spent and what the music has meant for me through it all. I managed to get a copy of the letter to somebody at the Ten Club box. Another one went through a roadie I believe. Hopefully with any luck he got it. Life is to short so I believe you should praise the people that are important to you. Happiness is what is going to get us all through this life. :D Thank you so much for your post. Have a great day :D

Got to see him three times. Never got an autograph. First time was in 2000 and my first Pearl Jam concert, though I had been a fan for years. Waited around with a group of fans that gathered not really knowing what to expect. He came out eventually shook hands and spoke briefly with people. I remember someone handing him a letter which he graciously read. I had opportunity to shake hands with him and all I could remember saying was "thank you for a beautiful show Mr. Vedder." Second time was after the first Chicago solo show in 2008. Again he worked his way through small group of fans that gathered and held conversations with some. I handed to his security guy a bunch of pictures (hoping maybe he would sign). Third time was after the benefit concert in Little Rock for Memphis 3 in 2010. For me personally this was the best because he went through group that gathered and gave us handshakes, hugs and talked at length with everyone. Snuck in some pics of the event. I know a lot of others had too.

I know the waiting around may seem silly to do. But I think it was worth it. Half the fun was meeting other fans who had the same passion for music. The time waited seemed a trifle.

Thank you for bringing it up as I was bummed that when I lined up at 6:30 for the show an employee came out and said "we will take your cameras so I took mine back to the hotel and was all respectful and shit becuase it was Eddie and soon regreted not having at least a pic of the moment but when I got home the next day their was the clip from a guy named Ernie who is on this board by the way. He is the real hero here.

Absolutely amazing, Wow three times. I know how much $$ I had to shell out for my one experience so I know what an investment this all had to be for you. Don't get me wrong now that my three back surgeries are behind me now and my wife's surgeries are done. We'll definitely be saving our monies through the years to try and have this experience again. We are going to the PJ20 concert but I highly doubt their will be a meet and greet at that venue :lol: . Well I hope the Rock Gods continue to smile upon you in the future. :D

I guess I don't get the discussion on stature :?

unless we speak of his importance achieved from his creative abilities.

His talent unmeasurable, his spirit larger than life, his essence... his soul... powerful.

I would really really love to have a beer with Ed. Maybe 3 if he has time but of course he doesn't. I think he would be a cool person to have a conversation with.

I did wait for Ed after Beacon 1 (I think it ended up being a 2.5 hour wait). He was very calm and zen-like when he came out, taking his time to shake hands and make eye contact. I was one of the lucky ones who actually got to shake his hand, it wasn't one of those okay I've touched your hand, next hand please. He really gripped it, and it was almost like a lingering hand-hold. Ed's got soft hands, as others have mentioned.

I wish I had written a short note that I could have handed to him, my reason for meeting him is I just really wanted him to know how much he's touched my life but I was so star-struck (plus there all these screaming people around me) that I think all I could manage was squeak out a "thank you" which I hope he heard.

An autograph/pic etc would be great but I don't really care about those things.

I briefly noticed how "small" he was but quickly forgot; there's nothing small about that man.
