One thing i can't stand more is when people judge a show by looking at the setlist. For fuck sakes you weren't even in the room.
I absolutely agree but everyone needs to ignore those types of posts because we're just giving that person exactly what he or she wants...attention. The Borgata setlist looks amazing and I am soooo jealous of all of you who are seeing them in such a small venue. Can't wait to see tonight's setlist! To all those who will be there, have a blast!!
Great show- my ears are still ringing! RVM, once, i got shit felt like standouts. plenty of energy from both the band and the crowd. Plenty of drunks in the house as well- some dudes could barely stand.
The important part is that the band rocked out. The guys looked like they were having so much fun by the end of the show.
As for the venue, its decent. Have to say, it was a little strange seeing PJ on a carpeted floor! The seated section looked like more of a comp crowd, the GA was rockin. I was center, halfway back and got some great pics. An added bonus: I won $120 at the roulette table after the show, so the ticket was on the house!
My buddy had a comp'd room Thursday and Friday so we went down and decided to have a few drinks in the B bar. Inside there was a bunch of people in PJ's crew and security, so we knew the band had come in. We ran into another fan clubber who mentioned meeting Mike and Boom earlier that night. We walked around the floor a few times, didn't see anyone. Around 2am, we were walking past the poker room escalator and there's Mike Fucking McCready standing right there with a friend of his. I walked up to him, said his name once or twice and just thanked him for everything and asked for a photo. He kindly obliged. He seemed to be in a rush because he was with his friends and we let him go after maybe a minute of interaction. Later that night we were sitting at a slot machine and he fucking walked up to US!!! He said "hey guys, where are you from?" It totally caught us off guard. So there we stood by the Wheel of Fortune dollar slots talking to McCready for 20 minutes. He said that the new album had 8 songs completely finished and they had 10 to go and that Ed is doing shit he's never heard before. It has the same vibe as the Vs record when they were working on that, so that's awesome. He said that he tried to convince Ed to play some of the completed songs in concert, but Ed didn't want to because he didn't want to fuck them up before they were on the streets. He also said they didn't want to release unfinished tracks onto the bootlegs before the studio versions came out. Mike said his reasoning for wanting to play the tracks was for fan feedback, they could see if they needed to send a song in a different direction. Among other things he talked about gambling, the fan club, how they left St. Johns early not because of the hockey team, but because of the 11 hour ferry ride. He didn't care too much for playing that far away, but said the city was beautiful. It was an awesome conversation, and he was so down to earth, it was really cool. It was like I was talking to a long time friend. We asked for Footsteps and he said he'd talk to Ed and then he went on his way. Well, we didn't get Footsteps, but we got a great show.
People were in the area by the Event Center at 9am. I put my name on Oscar's list, which didn't end up getting used. They formed a real line at 2:30 or so I'd say. I was 15 people into the line. They let us upstairs at 5:45, but doors didn't open until 6:30. It was plenty of time to get posters, etc...luckily I had a friend who took it back to our room since I was 2nd in line to get into the venue at our security checkpoint. The people I was with in line were awesome...the truly dedicated. These people had been to almost all of the Canadian shows, there were mother's and their daughters and just a bunch of people I had met up in Canada too. When they let us in, security was really cool...I got up front on the rail by Ed and there I stood the whole show. The security guys in front of us were really awesome, they kept giving us water and were very social. Nice guys. The people around us weren't trying to beat the shit out of each other either. You all know the setlist, so I won't go into it too much, but for my first front row experience, it was totally worth standing up for almost 12 hours straight. Fucking amazing. Ed was looking out for the crowd the whole show saying it wasn't 1992, so no crowd surfing and to watch out for your neighbor as they've had really good memories at that type of show and also really bad ones.
Oh...they released 40 tix at 6pm. They were band extras. Good luck tonight everyone and be safe!
by far the most high energy show i have ever been to!!!! wish i had the money to go back tonight! the guys have to be tired, because after the show i was worn out.

Sad wasn't even on the setlist. They began deviating from it. Ed mentioned that they expected the room to be filled with high rollers and their kids, but he was thrown off by the amount of hardcore fans in the building. The first encore was really long too because he said that they had to figure out what to play because of the crowd not being what they expected. Kick ass.
it might've been fun, but setlist doesn't really look too spectacular. Evenflow and Alive? Anyone out there have buyers remorse?

any show that gets blood, long road as an opener, state of love and trust, low light and whipping all in the same show is a pretty damn good setlist and to the see that in a small venue, i can't even imagine the energy in that place.

Last night was my 18th show and it was probably the best I've seen... mostly because of the small venue and the high energy of the band and crowd. It was really an amazing night.... and I came home $150 ahead from the casino!

just got back from AC... won't rehash the setlist, but the venue was amazingly intimate... Ed said it was like a large classroom, and that was not far off... this was the only Pj concert I have been to that captured the feeling of the 1992 tour and the band was completely blown away by the energy and dedication of the fan-base. everyone in the room knows they were part of somethng very special, and the GA set-up with the dancing, (yes, and the occassional asshole) and generally good vibe made it all the more intense...
wish I was going tonight, but you can bet that there will be another great show this evening...
btw, I'm all for love and fun at a show but the one dude in the black shirt that weighed about 300 lbs and got off on pushing people and leaning on them most certainly deserves to have one of his Achille's tendon's severed...

The show was great. I enjoyed the typical rocking songs much more than the slower songs tonight. I didn't feel the pain in my knees as much then. I Got Shit and RVM was probably the best I have heard of those songs. Other than that I didn't think the sound was that great but maybe it was my spot on the back of the floor. There wasn't much bass and Stone's guitar didn't seem to be too noticable. The Borgata is very nice and the Event Center is also very nice. The GA floor is all carpet. It's like a big wedding reception ballroom with a big stage and risers on the back. The Borgata is by far the nicest casino in town. Atlantic City is such a shit hole! There is nothing special or nice about the boardwalk either. I'll never be back to this town unless it is for another PJ show. All in all a good show but nothing over the top or special. Hopefully they play some more rare stuff tonight. Ran into Stone about 2:30am in a restaurant and we bought them a round of drinks. He raised is glass and gave us the cheers sign.
setlist looks fuckin amazing, Porch 2nd ??? thats sick, SOLAT , low light, I got shit, can never go wrong there in that intimate setting, i didnt go, but ive seen them ebough & going to philly, im happy for all that seen them : )

I had seen PJ eight times before last night's show and I have to say that it is the best one I've ever seen (Philly Spectrum April '03 included). The set list was amazing (I loved "Porch" appearing early in the set rather than late).
Eddie commented a couple times about how cool it felt to play to a small audience just like the early years. He also seemed very concerned about the crowded standing room section in front and even made a Rosklide reference or two. He mentioned how he thought the crowd would be, "a bunch of high rollers who brought their kids," but it seemed to be all hardcore fans.
The crowd really was fantastic. Everyone seemed to know all or most of the words to every song, even songs like "Green Disease" and "Grievance" which don't always get that kind of reaction. You could see that the positive reaction really got the band going too. I can't believe how active they were on stage. They seem younger than I've ever seen them (I started going to shows in '98).
On a personal note, this show really was a thrill for me. I live only 10 minutes from AC. My mom and dad have both been in the casino business since about 1980. I never in my wildest dreams PJ would come here, especially since AC had been such a dump up until a couple years ago. Now its really getting better and better with Borgata, House of Blues, re-done Tropicana, and all these huge bands who are coming to play here. Its an exciting feeling.
I always wished that I could have seen PJ in their early days, when they were a bit more energetic and active up on stage. I became a fan in '94 or so and I was only 12 years old, so its not like I was going to concerts and what not. I think (especially with the nature of the venue) that they came close to re-creating that last night. However, they also showed how much they have grown as a band by calming down and mixing in songs like "Low Light" and "Off He Goes" without causing the crowd to lose their energy.
All in all, it was an incredible night. It was amazing to watch this band from about 20 feet away in my own hometown. Truly an unforgettable experience.

.....again. They sounded excellent last night and there were far more highlights than lowlights (no pun intended), but I have to be honest here. I am so sick of hearing Alive, Better Man, Evenflow, and even Yellow Ledbetter. Ledbetter used to be the song you hoped and wished they would play and now it's a reason for me to make my way through the crowd to exit before anyone else because you know it's their last song. Overall though, I thought the show was unbelieveable. Is it possible that they are getting better? It sounded that way to me. Blood was crazy, Once was off the hook and Long Road sounded amazing for an opener. But I was left wondering why I only heard 1 song off of No Code and 1 off of Yield.

All I can say is as a diehard PJ fan that paid through the nose on EBAY for these tickets is that it was worth every penny. It was incredible. From Long Road into Porch, to hearing Hail, Hail, to hearing my personal faves I Got Shit and Off He Goes it was a night I will never remember.
I think my brother said it best who is not a big PJ fan. As a big Beatles fan he said "they are incredible, they hold the crowd's attention throughout while not being boring with a static setlist and you can tell they play songs on the fly"
I am listening to the boot right now and it its just giving me chills as to how INCREDIDIBLE of a night it was.
One side note though, Eddie should give the booze a break as towards the end you could tell he was tipsy.

i had to wait for my friend who didnt get out of work until almost 6, then we shot to A.C in his car, we arrived in A.c alittle after 7, at which point we missed the exit for brigatine which leads you right to the Borgata, and we had to ride through the streets of AC. when we finally got to the Borgata my friend and i Played a few things before heading in, i played the slots and a hand of BJ. lost around 50 dollars
we went upstairs, i bought one of those Green North amer tshirts, which i seen everyone wearing. so i guess they were quite popular, i really didnt like the A>C ones cause they were Red. the AC poster was so cool but they ran out of them in like a minute, so iwasnt able to get one. my friend and i stood outside the doors for awhile near the bar and drank a few beers, which cost and arm and a leg
we got inside and the Event Center was set up so cool, i have never been so close yet so far away, we had tix in section D rox X , so pretty much in the back. but it was still so close, but i kept wishing i had GA. we caught the end of sleater kinney's set, i love Sleater kinney, and on Monday i am going in Early to see their whole set!!
it felt like forever for PJ to take the stage, i kept looking around and none of the seats were filling up, it seemed like most of the seats stayed empty even when pj took the stage , and then when they did people came trickleing in, it was making me mad because their were so many die hard fans that wanted those seats so bad, and here people are just casually going to their seats.
Finally PJ came on and the room went crazy, they began with sucha moody Long road, the lighting really set the scene for the song, then they went into their new version of porch, which Sounded Amazing, i mean it sounded like it was 1992 all over,it had so much energy. After that they went into 7 straight rockers,
Hail Hail, which was alittle messedup in the beginning, eddie was off timing, ( at which later he addressed saying that he was the only one in the band who still smokes and drinks , and he knows that everyone in the crowd are die hard fans, and catch every little mistake we make , and the n he said the classic lines,, " all im saying is its all my fault", then you heard people in the crowd scream, " no its Stones Fault"), Animal, SOLAT, Whipping, Evenflow ( which was fucking unreal, i loved the little drum solo matt had), Grievane, Green Disease, ( i was wondering if they were going to play GD, because of the Borgata setting).this whole time the crowd was going crazy, the Ga was Bumping, and Mike was fucking insane , he was making me laugh all night, at one point it looked like he was doing some kind of Gig. Eddie also adressed at this time the
Crowd Surfing saying " that this isnt a mking of a video from 1992" , he said that we are alittle older and wiser, and smarter to know we should respect the people around us , later he commented that he yelled at us for being remeniscent of 1992, when he has been wearing the same shirt since 1992 unwashed. later he also addressed the reason why they were playing the Borgata, which was a result of them losing some sort of bet
Daughter came next followed with a WMA tag, im stil lwaiting for the full song , but ill take the Tag for now, then followed by the Blitz Krieg Bop Chant, the way eddie was singing it though it sounded like he was saying " let it snow" in stead of " Lets go"
Ruby Tueday was After Daughter , not during, it was actually more of a precursor to Igot shit, i got shit was fantastic, it sounded so grungy, and eddies voice was great. next came Elderly woman and Betterman which were major sing alongs, then after that eddie asked the crowd if we wanted to hear some b-sides or something, everyone started shouting out requests, he said he would take them later, and then they ripped into Sad!! which the crowd went crazy
through out the whole night he kept getting updates for the Yankees /redsox game and giving them to the crowd, i think he thought the majority of the crowd was from NY, but everytime he would talk about the game i would hear a thunderous E.A.G.L.E.S, then eddie asked "SO where are all of you guys from" , and then everyone started shouting shit, but i kept hearing a loud PHILLY, but eddie said the people up front must be from jersey cause they keep pointing downsaying right here.
next they ripped right into three Rockers, DTE, Save You, Blood, all of which were awesome, all three were the best i have ever heard them, im not sure if it was the sound system or the band, but the sound was great, i have heard DTe , around 7 times live, and this one Blew my mind.
something weird happened during the first encore break, Peaople in my section D, just started leaving, i mean alot , at first i thought maybe they were just going to get a drink or to the bathroom, but they never came back , and left like 40 seats open for the rest of the show, and that really pissed me off, that some people were going to sell their granddmothers to see this show , and these peopel left midset.
next came the half Acoustic first encore,
MOth, Off he goes , and Lowlight were amazing,
eddie told us at first he thought that the crowd was going to be filled with high rollers and their kids , but he has realizedthat he is going to have to step it up becuase the crowd is much different, which a giant roar follwed.,
during lowlight i was standing and singing along ,really loving it , first time hearing it live , then i was tapped on the shoulder by some guy who looked like he was near 50 and his wife, who asked me to sitt down cause i was blocking his view, yeah thats right , sit down. i gave him the dirtiest look, and shook my head in disgust and , continued to stand. he was definitely a high roller, it pissed me off for the rest of the show, and then they left after the first encore. and all of the other 40 seats stayed empty for the rest of the show.
Crazy Mary, Was fuckign incredible, i mean it blew me aWay, for all of those who think boom shouldnt be around anymore, well then they should have seen him last night , him , mike , and stone, jammed out for what seemed like an eternity, and it was just amazing!!. next came RVM, which was so fucking rocking , all of the songs all night sounded like they were from 1994, RVm was so crisp, the solo was on point and not too long
for the second enocre they came out as strong as ever, eddie said that they were going to play for however long they wanted us to , which we all cheered. but i knew that was typical eddie just playing with us. they ripped into the original verison of IBIM, then into a fucking awesome version of Once the band sounded so great musically. Alive was next which the crowd sung along to so loud, then the two closers, Baba and Ledbetter.
and as soon as we knew it the show was over and i had one of the best times at a concert then ever in my life , this AC show is right up there with 4/28

we got inside and the Event Center was set up so cool, i have never been so close yet so far away, we had tix in section D rox X , so pretty much in the back. but it was still so close, but i kept wishing i had GA. we caught the end of sleater kinney's set, i love Sleater kinney, and on Monday i am going in Early to see their whole set!!
it felt like forever for PJ to take the stage, i kept looking around and none of the seats were filling up, it seemed like most of the seats stayed empty even when pj took the stage , and then when they did people came trickleing in, it was making me mad because their were so many die hard fans that wanted those seats so bad, and here people are just casually going to their seats.
Finally PJ came on and the room went crazy, they began with sucha moody Long road, the lighting really set the scene for the song, then they went into their new version of porch, which Sounded Amazing, i mean it sounded like it was 1992 all over,it had so much energy. After that they went into 7 straight rockers,
Hail Hail, which was alittle messedup in the beginning, eddie was off timing, ( at which later he addressed saying that he was the only one in the band who still smokes and drinks , and he knows that everyone in the crowd are die hard fans, and catch every little mistake we make , and the n he said the classic lines,, " all im saying is its all my fault", then you heard people in the crowd scream, " no its Stones Fault"), Animal, SOLAT, Whipping, Evenflow ( which was fucking unreal, i loved the little drum solo matt had), Grievane, Green Disease, ( i was wondering if they were going to play GD, because of the Borgata setting).this whole time the crowd was going crazy, the Ga was Bumping, and Mike was fucking insane , he was making me laugh all night, at one point it looked like he was doing some kind of Gig. Eddie also adressed at this time the
Crowd Surfing saying " that this isnt a mking of a video from 1992" , he said that we are alittle older and wiser, and smarter to know we should respect the people around us , later he commented that he yelled at us for being remeniscent of 1992, when he has been wearing the same shirt since 1992 unwashed. later he also addressed the reason why they were playing the Borgata, which was a result of them losing some sort of bet
Daughter came next followed with a WMA tag, im stil lwaiting for the full song , but ill take the Tag for now, then followed by the Blitz Krieg Bop Chant, the way eddie was singing it though it sounded like he was saying " let it snow" in stead of " Lets go"
Ruby Tueday was After Daughter , not during, it was actually more of a precursor to Igot shit, i got shit was fantastic, it sounded so grungy, and eddies voice was great. next came Elderly woman and Betterman which were major sing alongs, then after that eddie asked the crowd if we wanted to hear some b-sides or something, everyone started shouting out requests, he said he would take them later, and then they ripped into Sad!! which the crowd went crazy
through out the whole night he kept getting updates for the Yankees /redsox game and giving them to the crowd, i think he thought the majority of the crowd was from NY, but everytime he would talk about the game i would hear a thunderous E.A.G.L.E.S, then eddie asked "SO where are all of you guys from" , and then everyone started shouting shit, but i kept hearing a loud PHILLY, but eddie said the people up front must be from jersey cause they keep pointing downsaying right here.
next they ripped right into three Rockers, DTE, Save You, Blood, all of which were awesome, all three were the best i have ever heard them, im not sure if it was the sound system or the band, but the sound was great, i have heard DTe , around 7 times live, and this one Blew my mind.
something weird happened during the first encore break, Peaople in my section D, just started leaving, i mean alot , at first i thought maybe they were just going to get a drink or to the bathroom, but they never came back , and left like 40 seats open for the rest of the show, and that really pissed me off, that some people were going to sell their granddmothers to see this show , and these peopel left midset.
next came the half Acoustic first encore,
MOth, Off he goes , and Lowlight were amazing,
eddie told us at first he thought that the crowd was going to be filled with high rollers and their kids , but he has realizedthat he is going to have to step it up becuase the crowd is much different, which a giant roar follwed.,
during lowlight i was standing and singing along ,really loving it , first time hearing it live , then i was tapped on the shoulder by some guy who looked like he was near 50 and his wife, who asked me to sitt down cause i was blocking his view, yeah thats right , sit down. i gave him the dirtiest look, and shook my head in disgust and , continued to stand. he was definitely a high roller, it pissed me off for the rest of the show, and then they left after the first encore. and all of the other 40 seats stayed empty for the rest of the show.
Crazy Mary, Was fuckign incredible, i mean it blew me aWay, for all of those who think boom shouldnt be around anymore, well then they should have seen him last night , him , mike , and stone, jammed out for what seemed like an eternity, and it was just amazing!!. next came RVM, which was so fucking rocking , all of the songs all night sounded like they were from 1994, RVm was so crisp, the solo was on point and not too long
for the second enocre they came out as strong as ever, eddie said that they were going to play for however long they wanted us to , which we all cheered. but i knew that was typical eddie just playing with us. they ripped into the original verison of IBIM, then into a fucking awesome version of Once the band sounded so great musically. Alive was next which the crowd sung along to so loud, then the two closers, Baba and Ledbetter.
and as soon as we knew it the show was over and i had one of the best times at a concert then ever in my life , this AC show is right up there with 4/28

seeing as how so many of the songs played on this tour are coming from those years......
i would think matt would prefer a set filled with a majority of songs he helped create instead of the jukebox hits that seem to dominate the setlists.
