Pal of mine was sold duplicate print out tickets for Ed...

Happened a half hour ago...he got them from stubhub, went to get them scanned, someone must have got there before him, they took his duplicate ticket away so he cant confront the people in those seats. Complete bullshit. Luckily a fan sold him an upper deck seat for $80.

Gotta love these fans...

Makes me a bit worried, I never bought a fake from stub hub.. but this makes me a bit weary..

If tickets are invalid and are not honored by the venue:

In the event the Buyer encounters any problems at the venue, the Buyer is encouraged to call StubHub Customer Service immediately at 1.866.StubHub (1.866.788.2482) for assistance. If the Buyer contacts StubHub from the venue at the time of the event, StubHub will attempt to locate comparable replacement tickets for the buyer. If replacement tickets cannot be found, or if the Buyer was not able to contact StubHub before the event, StubHub will provide the Buyer with a prepaid FedEx shipping label to use in returning the tickets to StubHub along with a Ticket Return Form. Upon confirmation by the venue that the tickets were invalid, StubHub will issue the Buyer a refund for the full cost of the tickets, including service fees and shipping and handling charges.

Offices were closed when this went down.. he would not have been able to get tickets from them.

Also, the print out was taken away from him.. so what does he do? It's a fucked up situation.

    Scammers suck. BIG TIME.

I imagine they confiscated the tickets though, so you can't send them back. Sounds very unfortunate and dodgy! Glad the show was seen though.

Yeah well, it's starting soon I imagine... hes all the way up top, but hes super appreciative, and is buying the person who sold him the ticket a souvenir of their choice.

  • That sux. This right here is why I NEVER EVER buy print out tickets.
I'd still at least file a complaint with stubhub tomorrow if I were him.

That happened to a buddy of mine with Black Keys tickets earlier this year.

I do not trust those print out tickets. You pretty much have to enter the venue right when doors open to ensure you get in.

Yeah, bad idea to buy printout tix at other than Ticketmaster or Live Nation...I've never had trouble when purchasing and printing direct from them...however....these days its always in the back of my mind. In my situation though...a snail mail ticket may never reach my hands...long story.

    That really sux....

Glad he was able to get into the show though.

Hope there is something to be done for it.

met someone from VA who bought a bum ticket for a couple hundred dollars. i hadn't planned on going tonight but made my way down to the venue (i could only afford tomorrow night but figured i'd see if i felt spontaneous haha)

met Ed briefly, he signed my well-worn copy of People's History.

a friend had an extra for this evening, and i planned on using it, but as the doors opening drew nearer, I felt bad for the guy...and sold him mine for face.

    hope he enjoys the show.

see whoever is going tomorrow @ the bar before hand.

Stubhub has a 24 hour 800 number and they ALWAYS back up their tix. Your friend kinda dropped the ball here, a little effort would have ended him with tix that were better than his originals.

How is he supposed to retrieve tickets if the stubhub office was closed for the night?????

If they're the downloaded stubhub tickets off the website you can go download them again. But man that sucks, send them a complaint right after the show

He or she should still definitely file a complaint w/ StubHub. They will at least be able to track down the seller and ban them from the site. I wouldn't be surprised if they offered you friend either a full refund or a credit to another event. They're a very profitable business and giving away a pair of tix to another even to ensure customer satisfaction would be a smart move. They have that 100% fan protect guarantee, so maybe it falls under that clause.

yeah, i never understand when people (fans that is) resell their tickets to fellow fans to make a profit.

    pay it forward IMO.

That sucks but I'm happy to hear that your friend still got into the show. I've bought concert tickets from Stub Hub in the past and never had a problem. I hope your friend is able to file a complaint and get his money back.

  • Your friend should still have the tickets in his/her account. Stubhub still has record of the tickets they emailed to your friend. Your friend will get his/her money back if they file a dispute. Not a perfect solution, but at least money will be refunded. Were they late to the concert? I think Stubhub is staffed until the show begins if not a bit longer than that

Stubhub claims their software will detect if the same UPC is sold twice through their system.

I dunno if that's for real, but once I had to sell some printable tickets myself and I was completely paranoid that I'd upload the same ticket twice or accidentally upload my personal ticket... what a headache.

On the other hand, I once had to turn around and drive an extra 3 hours because I forgot a set of hard tickets on my mantle. If they were printable I could have emailed them to myself and hit up a local Kinko's to print.
Is it too much to ask for a full-blown Temple of the Dog set? Probably.

The venue should not have confiscated the tickets or hopefully your friend had a copy of the ticket or receipt because someone should be prosecuted. He should report the matter to the police as there is a way to find the fraudulent perpetrators. I'm sure your friend doesn't want to bothered but something has to be done to help the authorities get the scalpers.
There have been too many posts on this board about people saying they got scammed, scalping is one thing and bad enough though ok if you can afford it I suppose, but selling false tickets needs to stop. Everyone should just assume they are all false tickets at this point and immediately alert the authorities when they see someone selling tickets, I will be doing so from now on. I suppose ( legitimate ) scalpers will now suffer as apparently there is no honor among thieves.

  • The reason the venue confiscated the ticket is blindingly obvious: so you don't sell it on to some other poor unsuspecting sucker. The venue's just protecting itself. Surely this is obvious?

ONCE UPON A TIME, fan club tickets were sold via postcard. Everyone got to go to at least one show per tour, seats were always good, and no one got scammed. THE END.

That's true I just hope the person had a record of it and that the venue takes steps to go after the person who made the duplicate, I'm just not sure that it's a priority for them. If they actually do something about it then it's great that they confiscated them. I just hate seeing people get ripped off and would like to find out who made the duplicate.

The print out tickets from Ticketmaster have the persons account information at the top of them so the persons name will be attached to those tickets.

If the venue confiscated them it shouldn't matter at all. Your friend should just be able to reprint the ticket that he/she should have saved on their computer.
