That sucks but I'm happy to hear that your friend still got into the show. I've bought concert tickets from Stub Hub in the past and never had a problem. I hope your friend is able to file a complaint and get his money back.8/29/00, 7/3/03, 5/24/06,6/28/08 & 6/30/08, 10/9/09,10/28/09, 10/30/09 & 10/31/09, 5/15/10, 5/17/10, 5/18/10, 5/20/10 & 5/21/10, 10/23/10 & 10/24/10, 9/3/11, 9/4/11, 9/11/11, 9/12/11, 9/23/11, 9/22/12, 9/30/12, 7/16/13, 7/19/130

Your friend should still have the tickets in his/her account. Stubhub still has record of the tickets they emailed to your friend. Your friend will get his/her money back if they file a dispute. Not a perfect solution, but at least money will be refunded. Were they late to the concert? I think Stubhub is staffed until the show begins if not a bit longer than thatGorge0

Stubhub claims their software will detect if the same UPC is sold twice through their system.
I dunno if that's for real, but once I had to sell some printable tickets myself and I was completely paranoid that I'd upload the same ticket twice or accidentally upload my personal ticket... what a headache.
On the other hand, I once had to turn around and drive an extra 3 hours because I forgot a set of hard tickets on my mantle. If they were printable I could have emailed them to myself and hit up a local Kinko's to print. Is it too much to ask for a full-blown Temple of the Dog set? Probably.0 -
The venue should not have confiscated the tickets or hopefully your friend had a copy of the ticket or receipt because someone should be prosecuted. He should report the matter to the police as there is a way to find the fraudulent perpetrators. I'm sure your friend doesn't want to bothered but something has to be done to help the authorities get the scalpers.
There have been too many posts on this board about people saying they got scammed, scalping is one thing and bad enough though ok if you can afford it I suppose, but selling false tickets needs to stop. Everyone should just assume they are all false tickets at this point and immediately alert the authorities when they see someone selling tickets, I will be doing so from now on. I suppose ( legitimate ) scalpers will now suffer as apparently there is no honor among thieves.0 -

The reason the venue confiscated the ticket is blindingly obvious: so you don't sell it on to some other poor unsuspecting sucker. The venue's just protecting itself. Surely this is obvious? My Pearl Jam shows: 1 in 1995, 2 in 1998, 20 in 2003, 13 in 2006, 3 in 2007, 8 in 2008, 5 in 2009, 4 in 2010, 5 in 2012. EV: 8 in 2011, 1 in 2012. Brad: 1 in 1998, 1 in 2002.0

ONCE UPON A TIME, fan club tickets were sold via postcard. Everyone got to go to at least one show per tour, seats were always good, and no one got scammed. THE END.

That's true I just hope the person had a record of it and that the venue takes steps to go after the person who made the duplicate, I'm just not sure that it's a priority for them. If they actually do something about it then it's great that they confiscated them. I just hate seeing people get ripped off and would like to find out who made the duplicate.0 -
The print out tickets from Ticketmaster have the persons account information at the top of them so the persons name will be attached to those tickets.
If the venue confiscated them it shouldn't matter at all. Your friend should just be able to reprint the ticket that he/she should have saved on their computer.0 -

What would the postcard system really accomplish? The website wouldn't crash, but then you'd have to wait several weeks to find out if you got tickets.
I'm quite confident when I say that i'm sure that many companies use programs to hog the site's resources for their own good when they buy tickets. However, a postcard system really wouldn't do much to defeat this, as you'd have people send in 1500 postcards as part of their reseller's company, essentially doing the same thing as the bots.
Here's how you do it: You open the presale to the first 15,000 member numbers. They have 24 hours to buy tickets. After that, you open the door to the next 15,000 with another 24 hours. If your number is 13,399 then you can still buy tickets in the second 24 hours.
And so on and so forth. Every 24 hours, the door gets opened a little bit wider. If the site can handle the traffic, then the next tour, increase it to the first 25,000 or 30,000 numbers.
My number is 279,XXX. HOWEVER.. not everyone "in front" of me is still active. Therefore, my "real" number is quite lower. And as I keep on renewing, my "real" number gets lower and lower.
So, the presale may start on the first of the month, and the door may be opened to me on the 10th of the month, but i'd still have a good chance since there's really not 279,000 people in front of me.
But finally, the most important?
Insert a damn captcha. Yeah, they suck, but they're hard to program bots around. Most people won't program a bot to work around a captcha.Presidential Advice from President-Elect Mike McCready: "Are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?"0 -

I'm guessing you weren't in the 10C back then - we didn't send in postcards. A postcard, which was essentially an order form, was mailed to active members of 10C. You got to order 10C tickets to ONE show per tour. Never heard of anybody getting shut out of a show back then.
Back in '00, I pre-ordered 10C tix for Vegas, and still managed to get TM tix for San Diego the day of the show. I just think it's more fair if everyone gets a pair of tickets to one show per tour through the club, giving everyone a better chance to see at least one show, with decent seating - then if you wanted to go to more than one show, you'd have to buy the others like the general public.
I like the idea of more people at fewer shows, then fewer people at more shows...but then again, I'm also a communist. :shock:Osaka, Japan (2/21/95), San Diego (7/10/98), Las Vegas (10/22/00), San Diego (10/25/00), Las Vegas (6/6/03), Las Vegas (7/6/06), Los Angeles (7/9/06), VH1 Rock Honors (7/12/08), Ed Solo (7/8/11), Ed Solo (11/1/12), Los Angeles (11/23/13)0 -

Struck out on 10C and Ticketmaster Tickets for Ed at The Beacon Theatre. Found somebody on Craigslist to sell me a Ticket for the 21st. Met her outside the Beacon at 8:00. Turns out she fucked up and the Ticket was for the 22nd. Bought it anyway cause I needed one for the 22nd too. So at this point it's 8:10 and I still didn't have a Ticket for the 21st. Quickly checked Ticket Brokers from my iPhone but when I'd go to purchase a Ticket the sale wouldn't go through. Called them (about 4-5 different brokers) and was told there were no Tickets available even though there were Tickets listed on their web sites. Now it 8:35 or so and it's desperation time. Talked a scalper down from $350 to $300 for an Upper Balcony Ticket. I was $300 poorer but I had a Ticket so I was happy. Smoked a butt and made my way into The Beacon. Got patted down and walked up to the girl who scans the Tickets. FAKE!! SON OF A BITCH!! Ticket looked so real. Compared it to my Ticket for the 22nd and there's no way anybody would be able to tell that it was a fake. Begged and pleaded with them to let me in but there was no way they were letting me in. Now it's 8:45ish and I'm back to square one minus $450 ($150 for the 22nd Ticket, and $300 for the fake from the asshole scalper). Hung out outside The Beacon praying for a late arriver to have an extra. 9:25 and somebody finally had one but in my fucked up state of mind I forgot I had virtually no more cash on me and he wouldn't wait for me to go to an ATM (don't blame him) and he sold it to somebody else. Guess it wasn't meant for me to be at that show. Was so pissed I walked the 30 blocks to Penn Station to go home. I know, I know, buyer be ware but we do crazy things when we're desperate and not thinking clearly.0

To the OP and to anyone else that has ticket issues and has used stubhub-ebay-paypal...
DEMAND TO SPEAK WITH THE VENUE MANAGER!!!! There is ALWAYS someone in charge at the venue! Talk with them about the situation, get their name and direct phone number.. explain that you will be calling stubhub in the morning and they might want to see the ticket or speak to someone to verify that it was indeed fake.
If you buy off the street from some random person, try not to be alone! If there are 2+ in your group, buy the ticket and make the scalper wait with your friend until you're safely inside the venue. Beg a big stranger to watch your back if you're by yourself.0 -

Also, the print out was taken away from him.. so what does he do? It's a fucked up situation.
Scammers suck. BIG TIME.
he has the link for the tickets anyway that shouldn't matter0
