Thanks buddy, I was obsessed for years. Not so much now, have chilled on the collecting vinyl. Couldn't get enough as a kid and DJ'd for a lot of years, Old School Hip Hop, Electro and Funk. I disagree, I think kanye is a dope producer, but that doesn't make him a great rapper. Heis not the definition of hip hop and that's what I think confuses people on what hip hop is.
KRS-ONE nails this GREAT stuff on Kanye West in this interview, backs up your point and in general, what hiphop heads feel about Kanye.

Old school hip hop is all I listened to back in High School.
I have a small collection on CD (approx 30 CD's), no vinyls.
My bro in law introduced me to old school so I listened to what he recommended/listened to.
Then when I got the net I discovered punk and then other rock genres.
I have recently dusted off my hip hop collection after almost a decade of neglect, still sounds freshAdelaide 17/11/2009, Melbourne 20/11/2009, Sydney 22/11/2009, Melbourne (Big Day Out Festival) 24/01/20140 -
