    I love my birds Mildred (Budgie) and Lyla (canary). There was a George (Mildred's man) and a Big Bird (Lyla's squeeze) but unfortunatley (*big sigh*) they went to heaven. Cool thread! :D

    I miss my canaries... Hershey... he was a brown canary and Tweetie Bird ( of course)... their singing so lovely

    and my budgie.... Mister Smee....
    these my kids grew up with.

    its really nice to have a bird or two or three in the house :D

    I do think Robins can be a little more picky about being discovered so be wary.

    Our carolina wrens are so bold,
    they nest everywhere in the strangest places and really don't mind an audience
    season after season we enjoy!

    Mama was away eating, so we had a quick peek...4 eggs now...hope to see some babies in about 10 days.

    4 eggs now..we had a peak when mama bird was away. A week left until expected hatching.

    We have many young at the feeders now... they are on their own,
    Mom and Dad having done their job.

    They are getting their big bird feathers and look quite odd and gawky,
    its hard to know just what bird they are!
    They are fun to watch too being quite clumsy :lol:

    Never a dull moment in the garden :D

    Pretty cool....we have a little decorative birdhouse next to our front door....for the second year in a row, we have Carolina wrens nesting in it.

    A Baby Birdie Story

    Last Friday as I floated in the pool

    I heard a big splashing in the cement birdbath

    at the edge of the garden by the pool.

    It was a Bluejay really enjoying an afternoon bath.

    Very nice technique 8-)

    On the retaining wall sat a baby Thrasher watching intently.

    When the Bluejay finished he flew to a tree to prune himself.

    The baby Thrasher hop/flew clumsily down off the wall

    and ended up under the birdbath,

    trying to figure that out, as his aim not so good yet.

    He turned then towards me...

    spotting the biggest birdbath ever...

    the pool!

    He hopped over ... peep peep,

    hopped along the edge of the pool

    peep peep,

    until he sat directly beside me.

    Peep Peep!

    He began to take a pretend bath on the pool deck there with me...

    peep peep peep.

    He went through the motions on dry cement

    all puffed up and goofy

    but really also

    he had some very nice technique

    until Mama showed up with a mouthful of lunch to share.

    She guided him to a nearby tree, that silly little baby of hers.

    I hope she gets him to some water soon....

    and yes, I guess,

    they are born with the notion. :D
