Rose Breasted Grosbeak is passing through, they will stay with us a few days. :D
He's enjoying black oil sunflower seeds at the feeder as I write this.

The Mama, she's beautiful, both are impressive at just under 8 inches long.
They have a delicate call, a light varied whistle and are a bit shy.

I love them! I have them at my feeders from April until mid Summer. They bring their babies to the feeders too. :D

birds come just below dogs in my list of "pointless over-rated animals"

what use is a fucking pigeon?
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

I love seeing the babies. I have never seen a Grosbeak fledgling, my favorite are the woodpecker babies. The birdie parents are so busy with their young, dedicated. They often look so weary and pestered, kind of like us humans at times. Birds are amazing to me, I enjoy being a part of their world. :D

Passing through now and hanging about, the Red Tailed Hawk is making the squirrels cry and the song birds hide.
The chipmunks are nervous and unable to fill up there winter homes with sunflower seeds.
Their call is unique and lovely but bloodcurdling for the fore mentioned folk. I hope he moves on soon.
I too feel the threat in the woods.

Thanks. We didn't think he would live that long. We expected around 10 years or so. We originally got him when I was 3 and he was supposed to be my sister's pet, but I liked him better, so I took him after college. Had him "trained" to the point that he only liked me :D...but also tolerated my wife unless she was vacuuming around his cage  He was a good friend.

    and he played basketball!

It will be tough when Pumpkin passes he is 18.
My daughter took Pumpkin when she moved out. She's had him since she was six.
He can sing Winnie the Pooh, do the microwave beeps, Yell for our dog who has since passed "Scout!"
and say hi. He likes me but I'm the only other person besides Savannah. He really would swoop at my son!
