Just got back from the show and it was amazing. Let me just start off by saying Glen Hansard is an amazing musician. If you get a chance to see him before Eddie do it. He is great. The first 6 or 7 songs were all Uke songs and then Ed got down to business. Some hightlights.

Around the Bend and I am Mine back to back was stunning. So much energy and the crowd really got into it. Immortality was phenomenal and reminded me of the Immagine in Cornice DVD. Such a great tune. Before Arc he said he wanted to say a prayer for his friend Howard Zinn, then proceeded to blow the audience away with a great rendition. Ed and Glen broke out laughing halfway through Sleepless Nights but finished strong. Sounded way better than the studio version. My wife wore a Crazy Mary themed shirt and was shocked when he actually played it. Then Ed popped some champagne, passed out cups to the front row and poured them all some bubbly. Then the crowd started chanting, "Let's go Bruins" and Ed saluted the B's for winning the cup. Said after the Boston PJ show last year a couple players who went to the show were in the locker room after the concert and Ed learned of what happened to them in Philly last year. Said they had to have that happen to them to get where they are today. High energy Porch and Hard Sun to close it out.

Ed was very gracious and thanked us for being a great crowd. Awesome awesome show. It will be tough to top.
He who forgets will be destined to remember.

Wow, what a trip. Row K in the Left-Center Orchestra section - the closest I've ever been in 13 PJ/Eddie shows. I guess it's fitting that I was 13 rows back for my 13th PJ-related show.

And the show - wow. The Ukulele tracks were much better in concert than on record - they had more bite, edge, and fire to them live. When Eddie brought out his second uke, he introduced it as "My Uke," to which the entire Boston crowd responded in a rousing Youuuuuuuuuuk, for Kevin Youkilis of the Red Sox. (Interesting that later in the show when Ed brought out a mandolin and the crowd chanted "Youuuuuuuuk" again, Eddie snapped back "You think this is a ukulele? It's a mandolin, you uncultured bastards.")

Stories were abound, and the crowd was amazingly quiet during the songs (unheard of for Bostonians). Just Breathe into Speed of Sound into Around The Bend into I Am Mine was amazing, and all four of those tracks were gorgeous performances, as Eddie was slowly feeling his way into the show and the tour. And then, following the Into the Wild tracks, closing out the first set with Unthought Known, Immortality, and Arc blew my mind. We both love Unthought Known ("Gems and rhinestones!") and I hadn't yet heard Immortality - which was so beautiful and perfect live. And Arc truly is a prayer, from deep within Eddie's soul, that he kindly shares with us fans; a quiet interlude into the inner peacefulness of his own spirituality.

The encore had Open All Night, Crazy Mary, and a rousing rendition of Porch (as the acoustic versions always are), followed by the Yellow Ledbetter of the solo shows - Hard Sun.

All in all, this was a stunning show, and that Eddie was performing at the top of his game this early in the tour just goes to show what an unbelievable performer he is.

I am so glad I made the crazy last minute decision to hook up with tickets and take the trip by myself. I've never driven to Boston solo or went to a concert by myself. The show was phenomenal again as it was the previous night. The lack of meat head bouncers was not lost on me. They let the ushers do the policing. They were strict but not rude about it. I did start singing to one of the ushers during Hard Sun. I wasn't the one being policed but people were like "it's the last song get a life" by that point. Get off the damn Facebook during shows people! :) Oh yeah did I mention he played Speed of Sound the way it should be played?

Yes. I know it's been said before somewhere on here but the feeling is that Speed of Sound had to die so Just Breathe and The End could live.

That is beautiful and tragic and heartbreaking all at the same time. And also probably very true.

    Caught both Providence and Boston.
Great setlists both nights. Hope to see some of you in Minneapolis, and of course, Alpine Valley.

    Best of the night?
Goodbye (was really hoping to hear it)
    Unthought known
    Can't keep
    Rise
    Society
    Sleepless nights
    I am mine

Crowd was a bit more energetic tonight - not thinking about the bruins so much I'm guessing.

Move over James Brown, Ed is definitely the hardest working man in show business.

Oh, and a little comment from Ed regarding a pj return to bean town town next year. Yayyy.

Boston tonight... WHAT A SHOW!!! That was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!! My god, that was a great, great night. The opening act is a great musician, don't skip this guy, he's got talent, can't wait to see him again at PJ20. And Ed.... Man, he pulled all the stops and just made wonderful music and vibes tonight! I was sitting in row L center left, the seats kicked ass! I Am Mine and Immortality were AMAZING! Best version of Society I've heard! Great energy with Crazy Mary and Hard Sun! I can just say WOW. So many highlights I could go on, maybe I will put more of a review together tomorrow but I am beat tonight.

THANK YOU E.V. FOR SUCH A GREAT CONCERT EXPERIENCE!!! :D

There were still a bunch of posters for sale as we were walking out. In addition to the merch stand, there was a separate table just for poster sales. Both seemed to have plenty.
