If it was a home game and you had tickets to it well thats a different story, but I'm sure as hell not going to be lumped in front of a TV over the concert.

All you have to say is you like PJ more than Philly sports teams. Done.

Not the case, but I can just go home and re-watch the game.
    Re-watch the game?!?

I, for one, cannot watch a DVR'd game that I would without a doubt know the outcome of...

You sure you love your teams? :D

"Let me get his right, you are skipping Game 7 of the greatest Stanley Cup Finals in years for a concert?"

    History Will Be Made

Over 95% of the country is missing it. It's only hockey for goodness sakes.
Ive seen him 4 previous times. WIll see him the very next day in Boston and Saturday in Hartford. If this was my 1st and only time seeing him. I would probably feel a little different. IDK. If it was Pearl jam. I would reconsider. People are different dude. Just because you feel its only a hockey game and would never ever ever do this, doesnt mean me or other people feel the same way. Im selling my ticket. Get over it. I dont need fools like you telling what is proper and what isnt.

I'm from Philly and we are just as passionate if not more so about sports than Boston. That being said, I missed a world series game against the Yankees for PJ, I would miss a Sixers NBA finals game 7 for PJ or ED, I'd miss an Eagles Super bowl appearance for Ed or PJ and I would sure as hell miss the flyers game 7 for Ed or PJ. I don't think you're talking for most of Philly...I'd say "passionate" sports fans would disagree with you on most things here.

In my opinion, this whole paragraph is kind of crazy to me. Just my opinion, and you have yours- which is good- but youre thinking makes no sense to me. To call yourself a passionate sports fan in the first sentence, and then use the next few to prove the opposite is an interesting take.

I don't prove the opposite at all. If I want to not know the outcome of a sporting event it's quite easy. It's just most people don't have the will power to hold out.

Because I am more passionate about this band doesn't mean I'm not a passionate sports fan. I had no idea what happened in the phillies game during the spectrum show. I thin went home and watched it.

Seriously if the Bruins won and you were at the show do you think you would enjoy the moment less? I think you go party after the show, watch the highlights and go to the parade. That's where the fun is anyway.

As a Hawks fan, if I were in this scenario last June...I would have likely just ate the tickets and would not have missed the clinching game. You'll catch some crap from people....but you'll never get to relive your first Stanley Cup win!

i'm going to have to say i'd rather sit on my butt watching the game than go to the concert. I've seen eddie 3 times and pearl jam many more than that. I've seen the phillies win one world series. and the memory of watching that, on a tv at the wachovia center with my friends is a much better memory than any concert i've seen. don't get me wrong, i live and die pearl jam. but championships don't come as often as pearl jam/eddie does to this area.

The city has won like 6 championships in the last decade. It's not like they are Cincinnati.

Stanley Cups are different for me. I would have missed the White Sox win (as much as I love the White Sox) and I would have missed all but the first Bulls Championship Run. I'd consider staying to watch a Cubs World Series if they were facing elimination because seeing all of the disappointed Cubs fans would warm my heart!

For the most part ... no one that is going to see EV has ever had the opportunity to see the Bruins play one game for the right to win the Stanley Cup.

They haven't had this opportunity since 1972, not even in the finals they've been in and lost, they never got to 3 wins. So, a vast majority of fans would not remember, or even have been alive, with this being a possibility.

EV will be around ... this opportunity for the Bruins may not come again in our lifetimes.

I've seen EV twice before ... and assume there will be other opportunities.

    I'd dump my EV tix.

Yeah, but they haven't won a cup in over 30 years and there are some ridiculously passionate hockey fans in Boston.

And I can't believe I heard/read you say that you'd skip a Super Bowl, with your own team playing in it nonetheless, for a PJ show?!?! That's crazy to me.

You can't tell me that watching a DVR of a game is anywhere near the same as watching it live. That would be like us telling people to just watch Water on the Road as opposed to going to see Ed.

Well, I'm seeing EV in Oakland in a month ... so, I don't have to worry about it.

But for me, for the reasons above ... I wouldn't even give it a second thought and I wouldn't feel bad if they came out and lost 15 - 0.

Game 7 of the Stanley Cup takes prescidence.

We'll just have to agree to disagree.

Dude just go to the show. If they win you will have a friggin blast partying with everyone after the show. It won't make a bit of difference if you watched it or not. You will see the highlights for 30 straight days on TV anyway.

if the eagles were in the superbowl, and the only way i could watch it on a tv was to cut off my right arm...then i'd be dipping into the guac with my left during the game. again, love pearl jam, but i've seen the eagles in one superbowl and never win one. i have much better odds of seeing pearl jam in philadelphia again.
