Employer provided, no. Employers do not have to do anything but compensate those who they employ. I do feel though, that healthcare should be a basic right for human beings.
Exactly.
People seem to think Health Care is owed to them by their employer. It's not. It is provided to employees as a benefit to get them to come work for them and to keep them in their employ.
I think the worst offenders of health care hypocracy are the fucking assholes who claim that the government needs to get out of the Health Care system... yet, scream bloody murder if anyone even suggests cutting their Medicare assistance.0 -

They had two week window after it was passed to really hammer it home and they did not.
And we cannot under estimate the intellect that will attempt to change Wikipedia to say that Paul Revere rode through the streets, firing warning shots and ringing bells shouting, "Hey, you British people... you are not going to take our arms away from us and all that!!! Shadowcast: People are not intellectually curious anymore. We are spoonfed mundane, idiotic distractions (TV=the Feelies). yes, Obama failed to clearly explain healthcare reform. I was quite surprised at his failure to communicate healthcare reform to the people.
Cosmo: This--"Those people will seek out that information that agrees with their perspective of truth and reality and present it to the rest of us as fact" is my creed. We are all conditioned since birth, and it is only the very few who are able to realize it and then seek out their own knowledge.
I look at it this way:
We are all born into a prison. An ideological, religious prison. We are told what to think, who to be; we are told what a man is, and how a man is supposed to act; we are told what a woman is and how a woman is supposed to act; we are conditioned to believe in a certain religion, and this is based on the luck of where we were born and the luck of the family we are born into. The list goes on and on. There are children out there who are conditioned/brainwashed into being neo-Nazis. The bottom line is how do we know who we really are or what we really believe when we are brought into an already constructed belief system?
To me there are 4 types of people.
1. Those who see the bars of the prison that they are born into. They see the bars, they recognize the cell, and do everything in their power to escape. Finally, after years, decades, they are able to break through the bars and escape.
2. Those who see the cell and try everything in their power to escape, but eventually fail for a variety of reasons.
3. Those who see the bars and the cell, but are content with their lives and their narrow-minded belief systems that were constructed for them by others.
4. Those who are so narrow-minded, so full of illusions, who do not ever see the bars in form of them, who do not recognize the cell that they are trapped in. And to many, these people are the majority.0 -

No. but if you want to attract good employees and keep them, you better have it. I always negotiate the highest PPO available into my contract.0 -

I was rather impressed by that too.0 -
I'm likely going to turn down the health insurance benefits at my new employer. I can get it cheaper on my own.
The only people we have to blame in this health care mess is ourselves. It's not the government's fault, and it's not the fault of the health insurance providers.
We've let the entities mentionmentioned above very slowly indoctrinate us into a system where we overpay some other entity to make a profit and then pay for our health care. We basically never see or question the cost and we now basically believe that health insurance = health care. The only people we should try to get even with...
...are those who've helped us.
Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.0 -
health care should not be a basic right for "human beings" because people have to provide the care and they need to go to school, be smart, dedicated and pay THEIR bills.
so should these "human beings" that need care. pay some bills!

I honestly can't figure out what the fuck you're saying here. We live in a country that brags about being the "greatest in the world" and clearly doesn't give a shit about their own people unless they're rich.
It's... well, it's kinda humiliating.0 -

Do you really think that when people are in a dire health situation and go to the doctor/emergency room that they will get turned away if they do not have insurance? Nope they won't, their uninsured self will get treatment, then the bill they can't afford. So, since the hospitals are not turning anyone away. Wouldn't it just make sense to have everyone throw their money in a big pool so we are not paying higher premiums. Done, everyone’s is in, everyone pays then you have a very large group on the government health plan that is so large that they will bring down cost because of their sheer volume.0 -

You are one pink slip away from losing your health care coverage. One traffic accident away from financial ruin. Married? Have kids? Your wife and kids are one accident from placing you in financial ruin. Can you guarantee yourself that you or someone in your family will never be seriously ill? Never require long term care? If not, can you guarantee that your insurance company will pay the entire amount? Can you guarantee that they will not withhold ongoing payment and promise re-imbursement... as your bills pile up on you?
That's what insurance companies were doing before this legislation passed. Not only did you have to fight the disease... you had to fight the insurance company.
You place much faith in the big insurance companies... is that because you believe they are not in the business of making money and showing earnings... they are in the business of helping people, right?Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

Not necessarily.
But if you're a racist or a homophobic racist, you probably aren't a fan of the President.0 -

Are we talking about the same board here? I would say a large majority of liberals in here give Obama mixed reviews at best.0 -
