I agree that the ticket system needs to be changed, but to blame the one who runs it? I don't think Tim can say fuck it, we are upgrading our servers. He needs the go ahead from the higher ups, whoever that might be. The band maybe? I don't really know. Anyone know? Anyway, I don't think it's Tim's fault. Stone? Maybe?

If I did my job as poorly as some of these people around here, I'd be fired. And yet, on this board, we thank them for working so hard or just apologizing! Sorry, I thank people when they do a good job. The logic confuses me. You don't get a gold star for just showing up.
Uh.. it's Pearl Jam. They are a liberal organization, and thus support things like unions that allow people to keep their jobs regardless of their performance. This sort of thing shouldn't surprise you.
If you don't like it, don't pay for it. I'm not even being mean when I say that. Like you said, it's a business. If you don't like the service that business provides, don't patronize it. It does nobody any good for people to complain incessantly about it.
Shit or get off the pot, I say.
Way I look at it ... fuck, it's $25 a year. I'll spend twice that every week on beer alone.
See, your post is completely wrong. Its not like we can decide to go to another PJ fanclub and take our business there. He has every right to complain.
And the bottom line is PJ should put out more shows!!!!!
I agree with this, come on people, how can you defend the fanclub? Pearl Jam plays like 3 shows a year, give me a break, its not like 50 shows are going on sale at the same time like they were with U2. PJ's managment was great back in 2003. Then something happened, tickets went way up, Pearl Jam decided they didn't give a shit about people in south, and while fanclub single is always late, this year they decided not to send one at all! What the fuck are we paying for? Take your blinders off, look at metallica's fanclub, $50 but they give you 10 times what 10club does. There were times I would defend this fanclub but not anymore. But what do I know, I'm still in it so I'm the bigger idiot

I agree dude, I'll admit I shouldn't still be in the fanclub if I feel this way, its just the ass kissers that annoy me around here. Like people talk about how hard the fanclub works, and will defend them in any case.

So now you think you have the right to tell the band how often they should tour. Holy shit. The entitlement around this place is unreal sometimes.
everybody wants the most they can possibly get
for the least they could possibly do
If Tim, Kat, Rob or whomever can't figure out that this was going to be a mess, then they need a new boss who can figure out how to do this properly. Maybe get someone who's run a proper fan club ticket sale. I'm part of the U2 fanclub, and everything has worked smoothly there. Same goes for my experience with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. If I did my job as poorly as some of these people around here, I'd be fired. And yet, on this board, we thank them for working so hard or just apologizing! Sorry, I thank people when they do a good job. The logic confuses me. You don't get a gold star for just showing up.
I do like the fact that this isn't a faceless fanclub. We actually can pin the blame on someone, and I admire the fact that these people like Tim and Kat are willing to take the bullet for clear incompetence. That said, how many more ticket sales can be botched by these people? Vedder, '06 Ticket Sales (maybe like 3 sales went smoothly?), MSG '10, and now, THE BIGGEST EVENT IN THE BAND'S HISTORY!
It kills me that I love this band so much. The band is so amazing live and this community is generally great. But it is SO frustrating how dues keep going up and the service keeps getting worse (Late Christmas singles, Ugly T-shirts, Botched ticket sales etc.). I'm sure Tim, Kat, Rob etc. are all nice people, but even nice people should take accountability when things don't go well. Maybe once, yeah, I'll accept your apology. Repeatedly? No, not so much. That said, I know how things work around here. I get a weird feeling that come next tour we'll be getting more messages saying "So Sorry! We're going to work on another ticketing system! This is our promise to you!" Uh guys, shouldn't you have done that with THIS ONSALE?
I have been pretty hard on Tim in the past....I agree with your statement to a certain point...I don't know if firing TIm be the solution...But, he does need to be accountable for this...Since he is the ten club manager....I am hoping that the ten actually do try improve the servers or go with another route.....I don't think it is ever going to be perfect...But, it shouldn't take fans 8 hours or more online trying to get tickets....I just hope this isn't another broken promise..

Yesterday was a clusterfuck. I don't think there's anyone around here who would deny it. Other than that, the Club has generally taken care of me over the years, so I don't really have much to complain about.
It's all about one's personal experience, I suppose.

So now you think you have the right to tell the band how often they should tour. Holy shit. The entitlement around this place is unreal sometimes.
As I said on an earlier post. Only THEY know why they don´t. You don´t want them to tour more? Is that it?
I did not say they had to. A said they should.
I'd love them to tour more ... but to be honest, aside from assorted summers throughout the career, they've rarely mounted a full tour. In '95 and '96, for instance, I think they played like eight US dates a year. That's at the height of their career.
So I don't know why people would expect them to tour every single year now that they're pushing 50.
everybody wants the most they can possibly get
for the least they could possibly do
Also, just to add to my other post....There has been a problem with the ticket process online for shows like this in the past....I would have a lot more respect for the ten club...If they tried to improver the servers after each diaster...But, it seems like they keep on promising that they will improve etc...Lets just hope that this time they really get it right or at least improve it greatly...

Imo...I think pearl jam will pretty much tour every year...But, not long tours...Since bands don't make as much of records sales these days....Touring is where they make the money....Plus, why do you think pearl jam has been doing more festivals lately?...Sure to try to get to different generations of fans...But, from what I have read they are one of the highest paid festival bands...I could be wrong on this?...But, I think did remember reading this online..

another point: I like that Pearl Jam still chooses to do things their own way. They could have sold out to LiveNation on some hundreds-of-millions-of-dollars-multi-year-deal to have them handle their fanclub, website, tour, tickets, etc. - but then we wouldn't have the smaller shows, the personal touch, people that actually answer when we email and call, people that really care about fans, people that are fans themselves.
It all comes down to supply vs. demand and for this great band there is a lot of demand.
yes, we've all been shut out of ticket sales, but remember, it's our choice to be part of it.

Maybe not fired, but how about outsourcing this or bring in someone who knows how to do this? Frontgate solutions does the ticketing for large festivals all the time. Why not try someone for something like this?

it really was, and that wasnt the first time something like that has happened, everytime I try to get tickets on this site I fail. We need more shows, what kinda band puts out an album and plays like 15 shows? I mean come on seriously, I know its their decision to tour how ever long they want, but there is still a huge demand for them everywhere.

Tim did say on the radio interview...That some of the extra money from the higher option fan club membership would go to helping out servers....I am pretty sure he stated that...
I don't think Tim should be fired...But, he has to be held accountable...He did apologize twice....Which he didn't have to do...

Actualy, they put that on themselves after TM stint. I felt proud of them for that. It took balls. They could have toured big time, and could have been the Led Zep of the 90´s. But, asi es la vida.
REM. Not touring to promote their last album. Their decision. I don´t understand.
You might as well get use to the band not doing in big full pledge tours...The bands members already have stated they pretty much will tour for three weeks and take time off...Than go back to touring etc...
I just don't see them doing a big tour like they did riot act anytime in the future...
When an organization has failure, they change leadership. That's what happens in the real world.
This ain't the real world. It's a rock band. The only way to affect real change is for enough people to flee the club. Otherwise, you get what you pay for.

I agree with that...But, we aren't inside the ten club headquarters and see what actually goes on....But, for sure there needs to be some improvements to the servers or go with someone else..
Actually, other than maybe apologizing over the radio for the Vedder show sales, this may be the first time Tim or anyone from the fanclub has apologized for these faulty ticket sales. Apologies are nice. Results are better.
My solution for this pj20 ann.....Would have done 1-2 shows in three different regions of the USA...For an example Seattle, East Troy and New York/Boston....I think it would have given fan club members a better chance to go....But, only let members go to one of those cities with fan club seats...

People aren't gonna leave the club, this isn't going to happen, but you can't keep passing the buck. I have had success and failure also. What ever happened to when you pay for something, expecting proper service in return? Do those rules go out the window also?
Yeah, i mean, they are busy, have families and whatnot. But they make a living out of music. Eddie solo, tres mountains, etc. They are busy, I KNOW. A handful of US shows more. Everyone would have been happier.
And I know still there would be complaints, but c´mon!
