Ten Club Needs New Management
If Tim, Kat, Rob or whomever can't figure out that this was going to be a mess, then they need a new boss who can figure out how to do this properly. Maybe get someone who's run a proper fan club ticket sale. I'm part of the U2 fanclub, and everything has worked smoothly there. Same goes for my experience with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. If I did my job as poorly as some of these people around here, I'd be fired. And yet, on this board, we thank them for working so hard or just apologizing! Sorry, I thank people when they do a good job. The logic confuses me. You don't get a gold star for just showing up.
I do like the fact that this isn't a faceless fanclub. We actually can pin the blame on someone, and I admire the fact that these people like Tim and Kat are willing to take the bullet for clear incompetence. That said, how many more ticket sales can be botched by these people? Vedder, '06 Ticket Sales (maybe like 3 sales went smoothly?), MSG '10, and now, THE BIGGEST EVENT IN THE BAND'S HISTORY!
It kills me that I love this band so much. The band is so amazing live and this community is generally great. But it is SO frustrating how dues keep going up and the service keeps getting worse (Late Christmas singles, Ugly T-shirts, Botched ticket sales etc.). I'm sure Tim, Kat, Rob etc. are all nice people, but even nice people should take accountability when things don't go well. Maybe once, yeah, I'll accept your apology. Repeatedly? No, not so much. That said, I know how things work around here. I get a weird feeling that come next tour we'll be getting more messages saying "So Sorry! We're going to work on another ticketing system! This is our promise to you!" Uh guys, shouldn't you have done that with THIS ONSALE?

Your right, and I correct that. That said, U2360 ticket sales were fixed. How long have we been complaining about these Pearl Jam ticket sales?
AND, if I'm not mistaken, the 2nd leg ticket sales of the Vertigo tour went very smoothly. Mullen did apologize, and guess what? They actually fixed the problem!
Alpine Valley Resort is etched in my brain!!!
I'm sure they had more than 12 hours to fix it. I'm pretty sure from what they posted today they really are going to fix it after the Canadian sales.
It shouldn't have gotten to this point! How are you not prepared for the biggest ticket sale in the bands history? That's like knowing Obama is coming over to your house, having months to prepare, and all you have are crackers and cheese whiz to serve him!
Yes they did. The presale for the 360 tour was handled through ticketmaster - you got a personal password that allowed you to buy 4 tickets in any combination for any show and you had access to the presale based on club seniority. But there were thousands of tickets available since they are stadiums, no problem getting tickets. Each annual renewal you got another password, the tour has gone on for so long, I ended up with 3, and didn't even use one. My girlfriend is also a member, so we had the ability to get 24 tickets.
Actually it is tough to compare, since U2 360 is such a massive tour, will end up with more than 7,000,000 tickets sold, easy to get tickets. Just not enough Pearl Jam tickets for the demand.
What?? THey told me he likes Cheez wiz
Sammi: Wanna just break up?
I have your car towed all the way to your house and all you've got for me is *lite* beer?

I never planned on going to PJ20 and I'm glad I didn't have to deal with this, but I do feel sorry for those who feel they got the short end of the stick, but don't give up on 10C and don't take it personally, it sucks, and hopefully this is the last time any of us will experience such disappointment and frustrations in getting tickets to see the best band in the world!

Well, Vertigo Leg 2 in the states was an arena tour, and those ticket sales went great. You're probably right about supply, though, since U2 plays many more shows on a tour than Pearl Jam does. But think of it this way: Has anything changed about these ticket presales for Pearl Jam over the years? They give a time, and EVERYONE jumps on at the same time, causing misery and anger. Why didn't they tier the time when people could have access to the site? Senior people get to go first, then an hour later, another set goes on etc. Since 2006, nothing has changed process wise, and we keep running into the same problems. Maybe time to think creatively?

It's a tough call, I've done club presale for Linkin Park, was not Ticketmaster, not sure if it was a home grown system, but it worked well. Also did club presale for Metallica and that went ok. But one thing I know, is that every club says membership gives you the OPPORTUNITY to buy presale tickets, not a guarantee. And like one of my friends says: there are always tickets to be had, one way or another.
i wouldnt let him in my house

Agreed.
You're right: No guarantees. The one thing I do resent, though, is the fact that it took them 4 or 5 hrs. to shut every thing down and then they tried to fix it. So everyone sits there, looking like idiots, hitting refresh. (and it kills me that we have to slot out 3 or 4 hrs. for all ticket sales almost, but whatever). They couldn't figure out something was up after about hour 2?
Just a point of comparison. Music taste is subjective.
they could and people would pay it, but lucky for us they choose not to.
U2 had $250 and $95 tickets to subsidize the $30 nosebleeds and $55 GA field tickets. Different band, different strategy.
really? I thought we were all music fans here.
Not all of the seats are $250. The majority of the standing room/GA seats are about the same as a PJ ticket, which is usually what ends up in the fan club members hands.
TC is awesome. I have no complaints. PJ has some blame on this. People were expecting more shows. Why did they decide to not tour the US? Only they know.
I am sure the minute TC saw the list of shows for this year, they knew immediately how crazy it was gonna be. Surprise! It was.
Have fun!
If you don't like it, don't pay for it. I'm not even being mean when I say that. Like you said, it's a business. If you don't like the service that business provides, don't patronize it. It does nobody any good for people to complain incessantly about it.
Shit or get off the pot, I say.
Way I look at it ... fuck, it's $25 a year. I'll spend twice that every week on beer alone.
for the least they could possibly do
