The rooms I booked at Alpine Valley Resort are $642 for the 3 days as compared to PJ's awesome package of $949.50 for the weekend. Great deal, thanks. I guess PJ is getting 1/3 of that package fee. Nice little hidden gem for them. I am still thinking of not going. It is just way too much money especially since they took down the only shows in the usa for 2011. Which means I'm sure they will be hitting the East Coast. I have to let Alpine Valley Resort know by Friday if I am keeping them. The deposit for them starts friday afternoon.

That's an interesting little twist. Did you know that when you booked, or did that just come up? If you knew that from the start, you could have identified when the sale was going to be. I don't think it's a coincidence that they want to know before the weekend how many rooms they can spare for the PJ packages.

So, yes. I think it's too much. You should definitely not go. Or, at the very least release one of your adjoining rooms. ;)
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

Yep. $642 flat fee per room for 3 days for up to 4 people. PJ is charging an extra $900 for a buffet and a poster. I subtracted the $350 for tickets. Talk about taking it in the keyster.

Not yet. As of right now I'm going. I just think it is hilarious how much the Pearl Jam travel packages are. $1450($1800 including tickets) for 2 people and people who booked early are charged $642 for 4 people

That's one of my thoughts. Especially with them removing that these were the only 2 shows in the US. The odds of one of those extra shows not being located on the east coast are slim to none. My wife and I are going to talk it over tonight.

I think the package isnt too bad.

    $1800

    -$334 tickets
    -$200 Expo ($50 x 2 x 2)
-$240 Shuttle ($60 x 2 x 2) Plus the convenience of rides from the hotel itself
    -$35 Poster
    -$120 Buffer ($30 x 2 x 2) just a guess

That leaves $290 each night for the hotel. Based on the proximity to the venue and the convenience of everything one-stop shopping, I dont think its a bad deal. Its not exactly much of a cost-savings though. I checked Abbey Resort the other day and the price isnt that off.

You don't need a shuttle from Alpine Valley Resort. If I have 4 people in my room it would cost us $160 each + $167 for the ticket($327 total) for the 3 days for staying at the same resort.

So $900 as compared to $327 - So basically a buffet, a poster and a shuttle costs an extra $573 per person.

Don't get me wrong its a great idea to do the package for people because it definitely simplifies everything for travelers(especially from overseas), it's just really interesting to see how much more it really costs. I'm sure they would have been happier if people didn't already book the place.

Already did. I'm just wondering if I save money and hope one of these rumored extra shows is in Philly, NY or Boston or somewhere close.

Im still going to give it a shot.

I have a lot going on and Labor Day Weekend is one of the few weekends in the Summer/Fall is open. I cant make any of the Canadian shows and East Coast show would even be tough.... plus it is PJ20. Wont get another shot at that.

I can afford it without putting a hurting on myself. Before too long I will have more responsibilities like kids, etc... and I wont have much of a chance to bump out to Wisconsin for a Pearl Jam festival.

Is there something restricting someone from inviting 2 guests to stay and split the cost of the hotel part of the stay? (i.e. you're assuming only if you book on your own you can split the hotel stay 4 ways.).

They are a US band playing in the US. So, if a band from the Haze of Pearl Jam plays in the Haze of Pearl Jam, I would think it perfectly acceptable to use a National Holiday of the Haze of Pearl Jam to describe their weekend. And, as a US person, I'd find out what that is by googling National Holiday of the Haze of Pearl Jam.

(Labor Day in the US is the First Monday of September, so Labor Day Weekend is the weekend that immediately precedes it).

BTW, the beauty of the holiday you picked is - it's different dates in different countries. So, you'd have to tell us what country you are in, and then I'd know, as I just googled it.

And I don't think Pearl Jam approves of the carcinogens released on the night also referred to as 11th Night (if you were in Northern Ireland, where it would be July 11).

Just wondering because if i do three seperate charges Visa might question it and decline it.

here's a recap of todays AET show that someone posted in the AET show thread

Tentative schedule: gates open at eleven, music from noon to midnight

main stage for 4 main acts, 2 side stages for the rest

they will have continous music until late afternoon/early evening-then break and mainstage

PJ will play full sets both nights

They are working on setting up a live stream

Curfew has been worked out, the band won't have to cut anything short

10club does not have the whole pavilion but they have "a lot" of tickets

No plans to play the PJ20 movie but a possibility

Might be able to bring in a cooler with food

Music lineup is finalized, but always room for "special guests"
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
    Sammi: Wanna just break up?

This is exactly what it was like for the Oz/NZ PJ and Australian EV shows. Separate transactions for each show.

Label me as one of the complainers but I must put voice to how frustrated and disappointed I am. It is not my intention to inflame anyone, everyone has an opinion, here is mine.

I am sure many others will have a great time, particularly those who live within a 300 or so mile radius of the show. But I live farther away than that. To figure out travel, get a flight in a weeks time on labor day or decided to drive guessing on what gas prices may be in this insane economy all is very troubling. To commit to a show, putting money down which is nonrefundable so far out with such a big ass cost-- I mean we are all doing the math on this thing-- anywhere from 500-1000+.

I didn't expect this from a band who is all about the small man fighting corporate greed, fighting society. I have a bootleg where Eddie talks about dedicating the song "I got shit" to the people in the very very back. "I got a shit job" he says to them and he understands how fucking hard it is to make it in this world. Now to celebrate with my favorite band I have to find a way to come up with 500-1000 dollars?? it doesn't make sense to me. They will be surrounded by the exclusive, the people who have a lot of money, or who are spending a lot of money they don't have. They are excluding the people whom their music has filled with hope and motivation to get up in the morning and tackle this fucking world one day at a time.

I was prepared to camp in the dam rain for two nights and to see Pearl Jam and be standing soaked dancing mad with passion if that's what it took. I was prepared to stand in the hot sun for the day roasting in wait. What I am not prepared to do is wait in line for an hour or more to take a shuttle for an hour to an exclusive resort, pay 8 dollars for beer and then wait again for many of the 35k concert gowers to get back on a train which will take another hour to get back to my "hotel." All this trouble and to pay 900-1000-1200+? The camp sites are gone- only like 400 of them anyway????

This all seems a far cry from the bad ass guys who used to call themselves Pearl Jam. I want the band back who I once knew!! I will hear the concert from a camp fire in the woods from a 14 dollar CD that I buy. I will drive to the woods in my beat up pickup truck. I think Eddie Vedder used to drive a beat up pickup truck to stay in touch with himself and to stay grounded to the world. By the looks of the cash to get to be a part of this, I'd say he may have moved on to a Bugatti.

This is gonna rock you better believe it , just tell yourselves should i stay at home and go to a barbecue that is the same as always or be in Wisconsin partying with a whole bunch of PJ fans all weekend long ... To me the answer couldn't be any clearer 8-)8-)
