Good news! I emailed 10c and they have told me...

The blu-ray and dvd are both region 0! :D

Does that mean it'll play in my ps3 in Australia

Yes, it means it's region free :D

so if both dvds and bluray are dead in 10 years why do i need bluray now. if anything i'll wait till bluray is being phased out and then i'll buy them in the bargain bins for 4 for $20, just like i do dvds now

besides i still play my live bootleg cassette tapes and they sound fine to me and i play vhs bootlegs

sometimes progress is keeping what you already have

Hey if you are still ok with the "quality" of cassette tapes and vhs tapes then nothing i say is going to turn you around. If you're fine with them, then by all means stick with it.

You guys are like the guy who won't buy that new TV just yet because the better model is always just around the corner.

Ten years is a loooong time. DVDs have barely been popular for 10 years. They came out in '97. Blu-ray has already been out since '05.

Besides, the prices have dropped. If your DVD player breaks, just pick up a blu-ray player for $99. It will play all your DVDs even if you never buy a blu-ray disc. ;)

    Blue-ray fan boy  ,
You don't seem to be following along very well. How am i like the guy who won't buy a new tv set?

You are arguing all the wrong points. Here is an extra "I'm laughing at you" icon since you love them so much.

I have a blu-ray player. So how could i be like the guy who won't buy a tv set? Because you can't read. I chose to get the DVD BECAUSE the release dates are different AND because as I said.. you can't really tell the difference between DVD and Blu-ray if you have a good upscaling dvd player and a well made wide screen DVD. Your dot example doesn't even make any sense in that case because your talking about an old school standard squarish tv with your 480 example. I have a PS3 and a 52 inch Sony Bravia 1080P tv. I'm pretty sure that plays blu-rays. Your too busy adding "i'm laughing at you" icons to read.

So obviously this means.. if the blu-ray came out on the 31st then I would get the friggin blu-ray. I never said it wasn't better. It's just not better enough to wait till AFTER I see Vedder at the Beacon to get it. I'd rather be watching it the whole month of June first. That is a personal decision and doesn't mean I'm scared of new technology. You just ran with your own fanboy asumptions trying to get everyone on your blu-ray bandwagon. I have blu-ray and its better but DVD to Bluray isn't the same kind of jump we got from VHS to DVD. As I said.. given you have an upscaling dvd player, a good widescreen dvd, HDMI cables.. etc. Watching the Matrix "widescreen" on DVD on an upscaling dvd player on a 1080P TV is basically HD. It's friggin awesome.

Also... you are trying to make a point to me about the 10 year comment that again shows you lack reading comprehension. No shit 10 years is a long time.. if you were reading you would see that the post above said get blu-ray because DVDs will be dead in 10 years. I was RESPONDING to that saying that Blu-ray will also be dead in ten years. Blu-ray will not have the same life cycle as DVDs did. It will be much shorter. That was my point and I don't think you can argue that. By saying... just buy one.. they are $99? Thanks Chief. Already got one. They are so cheap already because most people can probably get by with skipping the format all together and look to the near future of downloading and streaming 1080P movies rather than building a collection of disks. I'm saying that as someone who owns a blu-ray player and spent a hell of a lot more than $99 for it. Blockbuster is out of business as a storefront. Netflix is looking more and more to stop mailing disks and go full streaming. That should be part of the conversation if we are all paying attention and being honest with ourselves. You had points i guess.. if you were responding to a different conversation

Seperatly to everyone, I am pretty pissed that the release dates are different. I would of preffered blu-ray and can't help scratching my head and asking why aren't they the same? I'm annoyed that i have to forgo blu-ray and the two extra songs but I choose to do that because I don't want to wait. I refuse to buy both. It seems thats what they want.

I kind of agree with this...for sure download/streaming is going to become huge, however there are alot of collectors out there that want that physical media (i happen to be one of them).

That's a great point. I agree. But I do think the slice of the pie will be a lot lot smaller.

and excellent point on bluray discs being dead in 10years.

I don't get his point? Sure bluray may be dead in 10 years, but so will DVDs...at this point i'd rather have the superior format...i can wait a couple of weeks for the blu-ray release.

Well said, helplessdancer. When I said "Who can afford another machine" what I should have said is, "How many more machines can the earth afford? New machines and info formats are created in order to sell more product which is gobbling up natural resources and wrecking the planet. Do we really want to buy into this? Dig It really ties into this discussion.

FYI guys, I just listened to the rebroadcast of the beginning of the AET show (thanks norm) and Tim said that the Blu-ray won't be shipped until June 30th from the 10 club, but it will be available at one of the big box retail stores before that through an exclusive deal. So maybe we'll be able to pick up the Blu-ray the same day as the regular DVD release date (probably at Best Buy I'm guessing). Hmmmm.... now considering cancelling my Blu-ray order from the 10 club.

Bad news is the content is the same on both DVD and Blu-Ray, shame when you think about how much space there is on a Blu-Ray disc.

    The DVD also includes this:

    Blu-Ray features two bonus tracks:

    1. All Along The Watchtower
    2. Blackbird

    Not according to this....

    **INFO FROM 10C TODAY***

Difference between the Vinyl booklets and Deluxe Song Book? The LP contains a 44 page lyrics/credits booklet and a 48 page songbook with Chords/lyrics.

Without giving away too many details....The Deluxe song book is Hard bound, 9"x12", 100 pages, and significantly different than the LP/CD inserts.

CD 40 page booklet and LP 44 page booklet, same content . The additional pages are due to the difference in format size.

Difference between the CD version and the CD contain in the songbook: CD in songbook comes in paper sleeve, no inserts, same content.

Vinyl will be available at Indy Retail and International stores in June.

Vinyl is a single LP, 180 gram, Black vinyl, 33rpm. PRESALE ORDERS WILL RECEIVE A DIGITAL MP3 DOWNLOAD LINK SENT VIA EMAIL ON RELEASE DATE.

DVD and BLUERAY have same content/packaging. Both are REGION 0.

Read that last night on Santos Facebook page. Weird Universal would post it up there with bonus goodies for the Blu-ray version.

surely Universal would have more details then Santos right? they would be making the blu ray, santos just sells it.

Well, it seems pretty clear what I'll be doing...
Go to Best Buy on 5/31, see if they have it on Blu. If not, then put in my pre-order for it through 10c.

That's what I was thinking. With the info released by Universal Canada, maybe a different Bluray release, bonus exclusive material, for different countries? I won't be surprised in the day's to come iTunes will released exclusive Ed tracks, like they did for the Into The Wild release.
