    Dear Pearl Jam Fan,

This is regarding the price of your Pearl Jam VS/Vitalogy Collector’s Edition Box Set.

We noticed that when you placed your order your total price did not include VAT.

This was an error on our part and we wanted to assure that we will honor that initial low price, and that we will not charge you the higher price, that includes VAT and that is now advertised at our online store.

If you receive an email saying that your credit card was declined and that your order was canceled, and should you wish to place a new order, please contact customer service. Our agents will help you place a new order at the initial price.

(Please do not email us any credit card information. Our agents will tell you how to place your new order)

    Thanks again for your order,

We hope you will enjoy your copy of the VS/Vitalogy Collector’s Edition Box Set.

    Sincerely!
    Your MyPlay Direct Team

To all my fellow Canadians, please be prepared to be a little more disappointed. After some lengthy investigation I've managed to obtain delivery information for my SDE from the Canadian Post Office...

Canada Post received it on 04/11/2011 (received my shipping confirmation 03/28/2011)
    Estimated Delivery 04/20/2011
After paying $37.50 for shipping.....the package is sent COD which includes an additional charge of $19.50 for tax AND a COD charge of $7.50 at time of delivery.

    Was anyone aware of this?

Hilarious after Santos came on here to kick dirt in our faces when we were wishing they would have used UPS so the delivery would have been reasonable. He was fast to say that UPS would charge us $30 for brokerage (which they don't on anything shipped by Pop Market/MyPlay/Sony), yet we're going to get charged $27 anyways. I'm so happy to save $3 at the price of waiting an additional 6 weeks. Completely moronic.

To all the Canadians that bought the SDE through 10C, I spoke to a friend that works at UPS and asked her to give me a quote to send SDE (gave her the exact weight and dimensions) from Seattle, WA to New Brunswick and I have to say I'm a bit disappointed...

For $31.36 USD...7 days for delivery. I wasn't a math major in university, but...
+ $30.00 Broker Fee, Fuel Surcharge, and guaranteed Duty and VAT. Your friend forgot to mention that fact.

Repeated in light of recent developments!!

At this point, I don't even want to complain any more. I'll just laugh at how this all went down and hope for better with the No Code/Yield SDX if it happens.

I would suspect that going with DHL was something new that they were trying and backfired drastically...I would be surprised if they don't learn from their mistakes. Otherwise, unless what they're selling is exclusive to the site...I don't think sales will break any records.

Umm that seems pretty normal for US packages. Usually anything imported from the US is charged brokerage plus the tax of your province. I think Canada Post usually charged $5 plus gst/pst/hst. So that charge looks like it's $7.50 for brokerage (which is pretty reasonable) and 19.50 for tax. Which on $150 is 13% which would seem to be a pretty common rate for HST? Seems to me this is standard importing from the US rates?

That being said, Canada Post is way underemployed so alot of the time, imported packages aren't charge when they're suppose to (I always order from the US, they might hit maybe 30% of them for tax charges).

So while paying another 45 bux sucks, the actual charge is pretty standard for things cross the border. It if were UPS , it could of been 37.50 tax plus $35+ for the brokerage.

Obviously it would be preferred to have a domestic release so we wouldn't have to import.

I apologize in advance for asking this for fear that it may have been answered in the preceding 103 pages. But I just got back into the country after awhile - and I'm simply wondering that if I were to order the Deluxe Boxed Set tonight - would I be eligible to receive the 6 Orpheum bonus downloads - or are those strictly for people who pre-ordered before a deadline?

    TIA

If anything, maybe the lesson learned is just to give it all to Sony, that way it's someone else's problem when we start to complain, and history shows that we do. Probably too much so.

We can only hope this information is wrong. Santos said the reason we paid so much was to make sure we weren't shafted on duty and taxes, until it shows up I'll give the benefit of the doubt.

Let's hope Santos was right.....though I gotta say, it's still a sad day that it takes THIS LONG to get something to Canada...all my other 10C stuff has come fast, and without extra charges, so I must admist that this is a new situation for me when dealing with 10C, but still....the optics of this whole thing are brutal from a fan's perspective.

To open or not to open. Anybody get this and not plan on opening it? I got mine, but I am still trying to decide on whether to open it or not. Anyone else having trouble trying to decide? I still have the "Ten" Deluxe set sealed too.

Actually its pretty common when you order from the 10c to Canada. I've been ordering from the 10c for years. Whenever you order something that gets mass shipped. IE a new record/cd/fan club single etc... Something they have to simutaneously mail out a megaload of copies, they seem to use some wierd super slow method of distrubtion. If you order something normal off the website (like a shirt or a cd thats been out a while) they ship it themselves via USPS and it arrives in two weeks flat like anything else from the US does. Whatever methods they used to the bulk shipping is pretty bad, I'd almost prefer they just dump it in the mail regular usps.

Toys are meant to be played by a kid. But go ahead and leave ´em sealed and sell it 30 years from now and receive a complain about Vitalogy vinyl # 2 missing. See what you can do to resolve such a situation.

You must be f*ckin kiddin'!!! You have a strange hobby in buying expensive items to be held on the bookshelf and in that way decorate your home... Remember that this band called Pearl Jam plays reaally good music and the music they play is presented on those vinyl records, cd:s and dvd:s in those big black expensive boxes.

P.S. Remember that you will need a turntable to play the vinyl records, a dvd-player to play the cd:s and dvd:s, an amplifier (or receiver) and a pair of speakers or headphones in order to hear the music, but you might already own all of those (don't know if you use them)... Now open the boxes and SPIN THE BLACK CIRCLE for cryin' out loud!!

I agree. I just got mine yesterday. There is no way I'm going to leave it wrapped up for display gathering dust without looking at it. Half of the fun is listening to the records or CDs while going through each page and viewing each item. Not to mention smelling the fresh brand new goodness. Do yourself a favor and  open it.
I bought the Ten box last year at a local indie record store and it is awesome as well. Open those and be amazed.

ok now this is odd. My SDE boxset arrived on monday morning (they dispatched it on friday i think) i ordered it on the first day so i got it for the cheaper price. Ive just checked my bank online and the money hasnt been taken out of my account at all??!!! I paid with my visa card (not paypal) and im sure that with credit/debit cards they arent meant to charge you until it dispatches which was on friday...... :? it kinda looks as if ive not been charged at all???? Anyone else had this happen? Have i been stupidly lucky and not been charged or will it come out in the next few days??
I'm not saying stupidity should be a capital offence, but what say we take the safety labels off everything and let nature run it's course?

My only issue with these box sets is how easily fingerprints and dust show up on the outer box material. It does not come off easily either.
    Anyone else notice this.

My credit card got charged the day after I received it and not on the day they shipped it. So it still might come out. I guess :-).

Couldn't be more thrilled! The set is beautiful and I live for a textured Vitalogy! One future request, please please package No Code alone. There is something so special and perfect about that record and it deserves its own special little packaging. I can't wait for it!
In the meantime, there's Orpheum to hold me over...best Sonic Reducer ever.

The No Code cd/lp boxes were very special back then, so it would indeed be nice if they make it a very very very special one this time. :)

Lol, just got the Vs/Vitalogy box and already thinking about the next one

I wish I had lots of PJ stuff still wrapped up in plastic.

I could sell it all, and then pay for my travel to Alpine Valley.

IF, as a Hypothetical question, I had the Australian National Highway Road Sign that reads,
    "PJ
    10"

    How much is THAT worth?
and if 'they' replace the signs once a month, I can take ORDERS!! :D

  • Finally arrived in Canada but won't be able to get it until tomorrow on top of the $40 USD I paid for shipping there is a $26.74 COD charge and they only take cash which I never keep on me. Its going to be a long 24 hours knowing its 5 minutes away from my house and I can't listen to it
