I have never gone to a PJ show and not felt like i was part of the Pearl Fam.....we bitch and moan and complain and bicker on here....but at the shows people are too fucking happy to bitch or moan or argue.

:) this is very, very true. And you definitely need to go to one. Sometimes its easy to subconsciously internalize some negative vibes from this site and lash out unnecessarily, but it doesn't at all compare to the vibe at a show--it's totally different. Thankfully.

I don't want to contribute to the bickering, but I've gotta say that anyone on the East coast who is complaining about Alpine because of distance or inconvenience needs a lil perspective (a nice way of saying you need to STFU). If you have other problems with the venue, fine....but if you're complaining about it being expensive or a pain to get there, I have absolutely ZERO sympathy for you. It's not that far, and you guys get spoiled every tour, by every band...

I hate the thought of flying to a camping festival...just doesnt' really work at all....and even with access to an RV, it's a 2500 km drive for me....crossing a border also means no party favors... But that's all logistics. I'll make it happen. It ain't rocket appliances. ;)
    still totally fuckin down!

That said....I'd prefer the show to be pretty much anywhere else ;)

oh....and....you guys complaining about the camping rules....do they usually allow campfires at the festivals you attend? I've never been to a multi-day festival in a campground that allowed fires...

How about that education/law seminar held just down the street that same weekend? Maybe you should put in the requisitions now.

    edit: ;)

maybe. but they act like i use the checks as rolling papers.

If this person has left over loans or grants after paying the rest of the semester what's wrong with using it for personal use? Almost EVERYONE does this. Now, if they weren't really going to school and pocketing the money I can see the problem. At least this person will be stimulating the economy buy purchasing airfare / food / hotels etc...

it's the old saying, when you start paying, you'll start caring.

i'm going back to my shed

You can't expect college students not to accept a lot of unneeded money. In South Dakota, its about 10 grand a year to go to college. For some reason, the feds offered me about 16K a year in loans and grants and stuff. I didnt take it all but i did take extra and, I have to admit, i used a ton of it on PJ merch and concerts. Don't hate on the students though, hate on the big brother politicians.

The entire student loan, higher education system is fixed to, basically, create slaves out of all of us.

loans are one thing...since the borrower has to pay them back. grants are anouther. if they don't need the money for school, they shouldn't take it. grants are designed to help the less fortunate better themselves. if you have enough left over to fund a concert weekend, than imo, you shouldn't have recieved the grant in the first place.

as for stimulating the economy, feel free to put my tax dollars back in my pocketbook. i'd be happy to spend my money on goods and services.

  • i lied, i'm using the money i saved from when i used to work.
feel better? (yes i do have some money from when i used to work)

i wasn't trying to flaunt anything.

and so everyone can just shut up already about my business and the whole business of paying for things with money that isn't yours, i usually pay college first then do nothing. i don't go out, i live with my mom (YES I'M A FREE LOADER GET OVER IT) i don't buy clothes since i've been wearing the same clothes i've had since i was 14, and i'll buy a new pair of shoes when my toe literally fits through the hole in the front. i dont drink (don't much care for it) i don't go out with friends because they live far away, and i stay at home every single day. the reason i even have the pell grants (if you all must know) is because my parents got separated and i only just qualified for the pell grants this year, my last year, because without my father my mom doesn't make a lot of money. and i go to state school so i don't have to pay much.

if there's an opportunity where my life is happy for a weekend you're damn straight i'm going to make it happen.

I endorse this quote! I found a site saying that Alpine Valley is an independent venue which leads me to believe that PJ would do it there, pure speculation of course. My only concern is capacity. I don't know, 36,000 seems low ball for something like this, no?

Anyway I'm in Jersey (near the GW Bridge) and did a quick mapquest, and its a 14-15 hour drive. Nothing wrong with a little end of summer road trip to see the best fucking band ever! LET"S FUCKING DO THIS!!!!

Now that you mention Tres Mts, I'm pissed. They aren't coming anywhere close to me and I have to find some way to spend a ton of dough just to get to that fuckin east coast. $ for flight, $ for rental car, $ for baby sitter....it never ends!!! Damn East Coast!!! ;)
