If this person has left over loans or grants after paying the rest of the semester what's wrong with using it for personal use? Almost EVERYONE does this. Now, if they weren't really going to school and pocketing the money I can see the problem. At least this person will be stimulating the economy buy purchasing airfare / food / hotels etc...

loans are one thing...since the borrower has to pay them back. grants are anouther. if they don't need the money for school, they shouldn't take it. grants are designed to help the less fortunate better themselves. if you have enough left over to fund a concert weekend, than imo, you shouldn't have recieved the grant in the first place.

as for stimulating the economy, feel free to put my tax dollars back in my pocketbook. i'd be happy to spend my money on goods and services.

I get 1,000+ back every semester and I don't give one fuck about how I spend it. We should probably be asking ourselves why college is so damn expensive to begin with, or how many students would actually be able to attend without receiving financial aid. Sorry, but I can't help not wanting to give back to the system that sets the prices so high to begin with -- and I say that assuming all of us pay taxes. I'm not trying to get shitty or anything, though. Nothin' but love here. And excitement for this damn concert, eh!

i realize people use money from pell grants and other grants to buy beer and clothes etc. but to flaunt that you are going to use it (1K at least to go from NY to alpine) for a concert burns me.

it's the old saying, when you start paying, you'll start caring.

i'm going back to my shed

You can't expect college students not to accept a lot of unneeded money. In South Dakota, its about 10 grand a year to go to college. For some reason, the feds offered me about 16K a year in loans and grants and stuff. I didnt take it all but i did take extra and, I have to admit, i used a ton of it on PJ merch and concerts. Don't hate on the students though, hate on the big brother politicians.

The entire student loan, higher education system is fixed to, basically, create slaves out of all of us.

I did the same thing.. How do you think I got to Bridge School last year??? :D

If your poor mom has 18 cents in the bank then skip Tres Mts, skip PJ20, and help the woman out. Are you for real?

Now you know not to post details of your personal or financial life. Once its out there, you cant blame people for commenting. Tis all. Hope you make it to whatever shows you want, and that doing so doesn't cause you any financial hardship in future.
