Challenging, yes, but just wait until he/she is older and you can take him/her with you. I took my ten year old son to see Linkin Park (his favorite ban) in January - we ended up on the front rail and had a great time!

For sure...this is just that weird in between age. We've left him with my parents for 1 night, but never multiple nights in a row. I think that might be asking too much of them at this point.

I can't wait till i can take him to a Pearl Jam show!

Unfortunately, none of my kids like PJ that much - weird, I know. But we have gone to Metallica, Green Day, Iron Maiden, Foo Fighters, STP, KOL

The oddest thing is seeing bands that I saw ~25 years ago, like Metallica and Iron Maiden, with my kids. It's kinda like doing Disney World and reliving the memories I had as a kid with them.

wow. i'd actually say you're the lame one. you judge me for using some of my left over pell grant to go to pj 20? what would be a good idea for me to use it on? please, i'd like to know. so far i've used some of it for school, some of it for a new computer (sorry, a great indulgence on my part i know, mine old was good enough. the screen was a bit broken and it took forever to load a page but what the hell.) and the little rest i had left i decided to treat myself with a little pj. i don't go out much and i've been through hell and back over the past year and i know you know nothing of me or the shit i've gone through to actually get that money but no, please, go ahead, please tell me what i should do with the rest of it. it's your money after all, so you tell me what i should do with it.

in your case, i suggest you give it back to the .gov. i would suggest using to pay down your student loans which are used for funding school, but since you blew those dollars on PJ, i can't justify that.

Honestly.. I'd agree with what someone else here said. If you use your pell grant for something other than your education, it's probably done all of the time to varying degrees, but if you are doing it, the best thing you could do is just keep quiet about it, as to taxpayers I could see it feel like being cheated.

So anticipating the demand for hotels (because I sure as fuck am not camping), I guess its probably a perk that I married a WI girl whose parents live 2 hours from Alpine. Worst-case, sleep there for the weekend. Her parents would hate us "visiting them" but being at a show the whole weekend, but tough shit.

In terms of getting a hotel, I'm planning on going about a half hour away from Alpine and just driving in each day. We stayed in Deforest, WI (which is about 90 minutes from Alpine) for Rage Against The Machine a few years ago and it worked out fine.

So for you out-of-towners, don't panic if you don't find a hotel within 10 minutes; there are places to stay, but you might have to drive a bit. This, of course, assumes that it IS at Alpine Valley. I haven't seen anything official yet, so I'm hesitant to book anything just yet.

    just my opinion here....

let the pell grant thing go. it's their money & they can spend it however they want. seriously, people. there are far more important concerns in life.

that's all...just wanted to say that.

Indeed. It's what the internet is for basically. 2 billion ppl long on everyday and complain.

Pearl Jam shows are great and have a very communal feeling, especially if you're upfront with 10 clubbers, and thats at regular shows. This fest is going to be PJ celebration and I am pumped.

I can't wait to see the band again and bump into a few of you

i realize people use money from pell grants and other grants to buy beer and clothes etc. but to flaunt that you are going to use it (1K at least to go from NY to alpine) for a concert burns me.
