They are also getting petitions together to get rid of the 14 Democrats that left the state. They have abandoned the taxpayers of Wisconsin, and it's time to send them home. I hope they do get rid of them.0 -
i'm a taxpayer of wisconsin, and i support the 14 who left the state.patrickredeyes wrote:

Good for you...0 -
things are getting ugly in wisconsin. in a braveheart style brawl i would put my money on the union people over the suits any day...."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

It'll be an uphill battle. The majority of people in Wisconsin support them and are against the Governor. He's a one-termer for sure. If he makes it that far.
The 14 who fled the state are heroes.0 -

Heroes stay they don't flee.
The people that are against the Governor are the ones that didn't vote for him silly. He's doing what he said he would do once he got into office. Lets see how many of those 14 don't get elected again.
Many of the people that supported the 14 are now saying enough and time to get back here and do your job.0 -
I would say that these 14 legislators are doing what they were elected to do. Represent the values that got them elected. They know that if they return, the right to collective bargaining, that people have fought for in the country for 100 years, will be in jeopardy. Most Democrats support the right to collective bargaining. I think these folks are standing up for the people who elected them.patrickredeyes wrote:Jasunmark wrote:patrickredeyes wrote:They are also getting petitions together to get rid of the 14 Democrats that left the state. Man, is that all it takes anymore?
Man, this is getting so out of hand as usual. It's too bad there couldn't be a real discussion about this. But you have a governor not willing to listen and others running away and taking their footballs home so no one can play. Jesus people, grow up.hippiemom = goodness0 -
is it heroic to come back to your job, have to vote and get something that is an unamerican bill get rammed up your butt with no lube? i think what they are doing is heroic.patrickredeyes wrote:

they are in a no win situation. either they come back and vote and end up getting voted out next election for letting this bill pass, or they stay away and risk losing their seat next election. personally i feel strongly enough about this issue that if i were one of the 14 i would have left the state too. and i would not come back until after this session expires unless some ammendments to the bill are made.
this issue and what those congressmen are doing is the exact same is if it were the democratic controlled house before november 2010 if they had a vote to ban handguns. i guarantee republicans would have left to avoid showing up and having to vote for something so critical to their base, and they would not come back and allow that bill to pass either. the attitude for both situations is the minority will allow that bill to pass over their dead bodies. that is commendable to me.
and another thing, why the fuck are people so angry at these 14?? what they are doing is the exact same thing as what the senate gop did with using the filibuster over 100 times in the last session..

you can not celebrate the use of the filibuster while damning these people for leaving. we should maybe just change your above quote to "heroes delay votes!!"...
i guess one man's hero is another man's coward..."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

A number of websites are reporting that GOP Senator Dale Schultz has said that he will vote against Walkers bill. If this is true, it only means 2 more GOP Senators would have to vote against it in order for it not to pass.
I know a lot of people that voted for Walker that said if this passes, they will never vote Republican again. This move is political suicide. If it passes, he's losing voters. If he caves, he's losing voters. Not something you want when you won your last election by only 4 pts.Post edited by Pearl Jam_ie on"In certain trying circumstances...profanity furnishes a relief denied even to prayer." - Mark Twain0 -

If the only way to protect the values of the people who elected them is to high-tail it, I say they trumped the ace.The people that are against the Governor are the ones that didn't vote for him silly.
Nope. He got elected with 52% of the vote but presently over 60% think he's in the wrong. Shall I draw you a pie chart? Many of the people that supported the 14 are now saying enough and time to get back here and do your job.
Ah yes... the cliché "some people say" that Fox "news" likes to haul out.

I don't need to read that many polls, see I work and live in the state of Wisconsin. I get some of my info from the local news that has been reporting this nonstop since it started. And I get my info and sense of how the people of Wisconsin feel from co-workers and friends not from Fox or MSNBC. I also have family members that are teachers so I have enough info thanks.
If you drive around town you will see people are making and putting up signs in their yards to voice how they feel. Some are for the 14 that left the state and now your starting to see signs saying the 14 should get back here and enough is enough.
Do you believe every poll you read? And no I don't believe everything I see on the local news.
My father and mother both worked for a union for well over 25 yrs each. This time they don't agree with what's going on. I won't say anymore cause you may want to show them a poll showing all union people are for this. Trust me they are not.
Unions did something great for this country yrs ago but now they do nothing but hold things up. They just want and want and don't wanna give and keep taking those dues to make themselves more powerful. They do nothing for the working man they just keep taking those dues and putting the money to who THEY support.
I'm sure you will break down what I said just now and say I'm all wrong cause you saw in some poll what's really going on. Whatever.....;)
I'd rather talk about PJ and Alpine Valley now. Thanks for the fun chat back and forth.0 -

For some, that may be true.
And yes, some unions are too powerful and don't do what they're supposed to do which is protect the working people.
That said... we're stronger with them than without.0
