This is just the vocal mix by itself from the song.
And so you see, I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
    I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you.

Not to rain on anyones parade but all this is is the studio vocals from the song. Vocals from 1992.
    5/28/06, 6/27/08, 10/28/09, 5/18/10, 5/21/10
    8/7/08, 6/9/09

Yup very true except the 'Cry on, Black Rain' bit which was recorded recently. Still good though :D

Yep, including those really high "cry on" screams towards the end, very impressive stuff, and it bodes well for the new record.
  • Awesome. Cornell is just awesome.

A new Soundgarden record is exciting to me and more significant than 90% of stuff being put out today.

youtube used to have acapella versions of jesus christ pose and black hole sun. they were awesome.
Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.

Because for someone that had such an amazing run from Soundgarden onto Euphoria Morning, to out put a few mediocre supergroup albums, and two bad solo albums, then jump ship back to his old band when people loathe his attempts at relevancy, stinks badly of desperation.
    Thanks EPOTTSIII!

Lol, people don't need to be able to make something to have an opinion on it. I guess if you don't like your car, you have to go build your own just to have an opinion on cars.

Not quite. There's probably a reason Cornell is world famous and you're not. Just sayin.

I'll give you that Audioslave's last two albums weren't nearly as good as their first release...Scream was rushed and ill conceived, plain and simple. I was separating his career from his natural ability as a singer. My point was that I've heard quite a bit of criticism of his voice, singing, writing style and I never understood that. Sure, he's made some "interesting" career decisions, but his talent is undeniable. There are probably only a handful of people who can push their vocals like he can, and these studio tracks are a great reminder of that, even if they were recorded in 1991.

  • You don't have to look any further than the band's performance of Black Rain on Conan O'Brien to hear how good Cornell still is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1s7Raqe ... ure=fvwrel

That's a poor argument. Britney Spears is famous, Nickelback is famous, Milli Vanilli was famous. Fame does not equal talent.

  • Unbelieveable. I started this thread to celebrate the man's voice. Either then or now, it doesn't matter. I know it's the studio version with just voice and no music. It's still pretty powerful to listen to. Didn't really wanna make another thread about how much Audioslave sucked and his recent solo albums, blah blah blah. (Incidentally, I like Audioslave, all the albums. I must be the only one.) Just listen to his voice on this and appreciate it. Just soak it in. It's pretty wicked if you can just sit back and appreciate it for what it is, and not, "Yeah, that's cool, but what was up with TImbaland crap?" If that's what you think of when you hear this, there's something wrong with how you analyze music. And that's my opinion. I'm done.

    Bring on Soundgarden!!!!!

I liked the first 2 a lot, and maybe about one third of that last album.

The last album features what I consider to be their best song, Wide Awake - shame they split up so soon after its release, that song could have been huge, for those who don't know it:
