Sorry, I slightly misquoted it. The gist was still there, at least.

And that's right, it's opinion. You sound as if you don't want people to have those unless they have similar talent, which is wrong.

Truth is, I'm afraid to hear their new music. Chris hasn't really anything Soundgarden-esque since 1996, and Matt is the only other one out of the band that's been really active musically. When bands spend so many years apart, they lose the thread of what they had been building up for so many years. When STP put out their new album last year, after being broken up for only 7 years, it sounded nothing like them. That's what I'm afraid of now. A Soundgarden album in membership and name, but not in sound. I'm afraid they'll royally fuck this up.

No, everyone is entitled to an opinion. I get how you feel. As for Soundgarden, time will tell. They're going to do what they're going to do regardless, so I figure may as well be optimistic about it and hope for the best.

I have to take issue with this. STP has never made the same album twice. Core sounds nothing like Tiny Music... and neither of those sounds anything like Shangri-la DE DA, for example. STP making yet another album which doesn't sound like their others is nothing new for them.
    My Pearl Jam shows: 1 in 1995, 2 in 1998, 20 in 2003, 13 in 2006, 3 in 2007, 8 in 2008, 5 in 2009, 4 in 2010, 5 in 2012. EV: 8 in 2011, 1 in 2012. Brad: 1 in 1998, 1 in 2002.

Jesus, why does any topic on anything related to Cornell needs to go and swerve to his supposed selling out. Regardless of any career choices he might have made:

just listen to the recording the OP posted!

You may not like the man, and for some good reasons probably, but that doesn't change the fact that his voice is total fucking godhead and still worthy of a topic. If I listen to this I have to remind myself its a voice we're listening to. How someone manages to force this out of his throat without coughing up blood or suffering a brain hemorrhage is beyond me.

There are more vocal-only studio recordings by the way:
