I think I can smell 'em coming............. wait, no. That's just the cow shit.
you should be used to that smell....don't you guys smear cow shit on every day before work? I thought that was a WI ritual.
Blood. Of fresh roadkill. That's my scent. Or week-old... I ain't gots to be picky.
The men likey the smell of squirrel remains on me neck. You'll see.
It sounds like most of the hotels near Alpine are already booked for the last weekend in August and Labor Day weekend. Looks like if and when this is officially announced I'll be staying very far away from the venue. Which kind of sucks but oh well. :?
If anyone ends up staying in Milwaukee and likes beer I strongly recommend they take the Lakefront Brewery tour. The tour isn't that fun, (my guide was wasted when I took it) but they have some of my favorite beers.
"There was a band playing in my head, and I felt like getting high"
one of the worst parking lots in history to get out of, plan on 2 hours for sure. Indy is about the only one close to sucking as bad that I have been to
if pj is serious they want to play alpine for 3 or 4 days i think its a bad idea, cause of the logistics especially long weekend, it seems like it a v enue for a 1 day show on a weekend.
i think the biggest problem is the people it holds only 40k, if they want to do a festival, would they not want to sell more tickets than taht over 3 or 4 days?
wrigley field holds about 40k, why not just play there in chicago? eddie would get a hard on from it, and love it, and it be easier to find hotel rooms, probably no cheaper than alpine, but atleast chicago wont run out of rooms, like the alpine area WILL. and chicago has public transportation too which is always good.
montreal has a few places that hold 50,000k of people outside that they could play a festival in the middle of a big city
Sorry dude- this isn't a bitch thread.... Take your opinions elsewhere.
I really don't think your opinions, fuck-ups due to your travel experience, or thoughts of AV matter all that much to the band.... Pretty sure.
neverfuckingmind........
Take me piece by piece..... Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....
common whats with you 2 bashing me, i know you did cause your from wisconsin. i didnt say i didnt like the venue, i went there and like it, all im saying is that if pj wants to do a festival thing, there is probably better venues in america than that one, out of all the pj shows i ever been to that one is really the most "middle of nowhere". maybe i just dont like cities of 100 people populations
no really though finding a hotel in the area will be a major pain in ass if its labor day weekend that is the only complaint really if they pick that, and the 2nd is why not wrigley field????? they have played alpine before, they never played wrigley, would it not be cool to have it at wrigley field????? cubs dont play there every day. also milwaukee is somewhat of a decent sized city, im sure they could put it in the miller ballpark the brewers play in

out of all the pj shows this one of the earliest i ever got to, i think i got in the lot at like 10am or something, we parked very close to the entrance in, so when we left, it was a long ass walk back to car, but once we got in the car, it was pretty quick getting out. ya i agree this parking lot sucks if you park close to the concert area, you need to park near the road comign in when you get in the lot. that place is great for tailgaiting, but it so middle of nowhere, and for a place middle of nowhere it really does not hold many people 40k is nothing, not if 100k want tickets

1. Thanks Jen for starting a helpful thread...here's to hoping I get to sleep in my own bed AND enjoy multi-night fest @ Alpine.
2. PJD420 - I get that you're trying to offer suggestions, but don't lump all of us Wisconsin natives in together. Just a suggestion...you might make more friends by avoiding generalizations.
3. Baseball stadiums are for baseball...might be a cool atmosphere but I have no desire to watch a concert in a baseball stadium.
4. My two young sons are probably more excited than their old man to hear the official date of this, and frankly, although we prefer to stay home @ Alpine, we'll drive wherever the fuck PJ says to be, at whatever time they say to be there. Public transportation or not, available hotels or not, cost be damned. Any once-in-a-lifetime event is worth paying for in our opinions.

I wouldn't go and say that you'll be staying that far from it...I live maybe 40 minutes away and there are still plenty of hotels left in my area...And I don't consider that a bad drive...plus you might save some money that way. Just a thought.

I'm hoping the father away the hotel the cheaper it is. I'm going to rent a car anyways at the airport. It will all work out. As long as I get tickets to the festival I'll be happy. Everything else will fall into place.

What airport will you fly into? Chicago rentals are crazy high...i know milwaukee will be a bit better price wise.
I'll be flying into Milwuakee from Dallas if it ends up being at Alpine and I can get a ticket.

Am I the only one from New England possibly thinking of driving to this thing if it's Alpine?
I can only speak for myself when I say U SURE THE FUCK ARE!!! Dude! That's a long ass fucking drive man!
It's not THAT long. I drive it quite a bit and the worst part is driving thru Ohio and Indiana. Only because there is nothing around and Ohio cops are pricks.
The arguments against Alpine Valley are all b.s. If Pearl Jam announced they were doing this at the Gorge we wouldn't have a thread like this, even though Alpine would be a lot closer to all the Hotels and transportation than the Gorge is.

can't compare seattle area to wisconsin...for many reasons
i post on the board of a band that doesn't exsist anymore .......i need my head examined.......
I'm just going to bump this up a bit for those questioning the area.
But, no one is SOL, there are plenty of rooms further from the venue and plenty of people that would be going to/from the location.
Again, IF. Shits getting old. This is a 3 month old thread already...
see you at your area..late summer..

You might want to be careful what you offer, soon you'll be all booked up!
Can't wait for this. It'll be my first time in WI...I'll sleep under a cow if I have to.

How far is it for you? I'm from PA (central) and I'm definitely considering driving. I think it will be a 12 hour drive for me...
