Why would we pay VAT twice ???!
To me it's pretty clearcut now : they forgot it yesterday, they added it today and that's about it. We have to pay VAT. We won't pay it twice. That's it. The only question that remains is whether those who ordered it when it said VAT = 0 will still end up paying it and therefore will end up being charged more than the total amount they agreed to when placing their order in the first place.
Still why the price difference between the USA and the world without vat? Or has that been cleared up now?
I don't know about the UK, but in NZ lots of things cost more than they do in the US or UK etc. Why is that? Who knows! All I know is that this boxset is going to cost USD$45 more than the Ten box set and that sucks!
This feels so premature.....wouldn't it have been much more fun for all involved (not that I think the band is much involved in these releases... :? ) ifwe were celebrating the albums reaching 20, one by one, instead of the year 91......hard to fathom, but there exist TenClubbers (terrible word, sounds like a seal clubber....;) ) that due to being born in, let's say..1989 didn't really connect all that much with Ed in the light mast in '92, but some random year thereafter....
My puberty and Ten where pretty synchronized, so by all means...1991 is a year to celebrate, but yeah....feels a bit pointless....should have kept to just printing the vinyl re-masters.....
A$242 delivered to Australia... killer! Still bought it, but fuuuuck!
PJ - Sydney 1998; Sydney 2003; Sydney, Melbourne, Newcastle 2006; Melbourne, Sydney 2009; Gold Coast, Melbourne, Sydney 2014.
EV - Canberra, Newcastle, Sydney 2011; Sydney 2014.
Just pre-ordered mine. Hopefully i score those Tres. Mountains tix tomorrow. If i can i will be pumped!
2008 - Camden, NJ 1
2009 - Philadelphia, PA x4
2010 - Newark, NJ, New York City, NY x2
2012 - Philadelphia, PA
2013 - Chicago, IL, Philadelphia, PA x2, Hartford, CT 2016 - Philadelphia, PA x2, New York City, NY 2, Fenway 2
I ordered the Super Deluxe but I do have my doubts whether it's worth the money, my only justification being that I won't be going to the weekend festival thing and the fact that the band does not tour this part of the world (Asia) and I have basically missed the last 2 tours in Australia, so all that money is now going into this box.
That said it's great that they are putting out 6 variations of the reissue so you can choose what you want and how much you want to spend. I know it probably still won't please everyone but these things never will. The only concession is that there's enough stuff on the net / out in the ether that if you really want to get it, there's a means to, just that it's not an official release.
My only real gripe, if you will (and it's really not I guess having had a day to digest it) - the lack of a DVD in the re-release. There has to be a TON of good footage, likely pro shot, from that era that we have never seen and that exists that could have been included in the box or properly presented footage of stuff that is doing the rounds on Youtube (eg: the Self Pollution footage or something that was filmed in 1995 that shall remain nameless).
But I'm still fine that we don't have any DVD in the box as, like I said, if you want to see some of that stuff, you can probably find it on the net or by some other means (ok ok, so it won't be the nice pro shot version but a LOT of it does exist in people's collections). I *think* also, they may be holding onto some of this stuff to give Cameron Crowe first dibs on it for the PJ20 doc so we'll hopefully still see some of this soon, the fact that maybe some of this stuff is just not release quality (much like the reason why they can't justify putting the other 6 songs on for the Boston show releasr) or for legal reasons due to their previous contract with Sony or - here's the pipe dream - maybe they will do something like the Neil Young Archive project and release a MASSIVE BOX, Blu-Ray with all the trimmings, so that we will somehow finally get access to "The Vault" and most or all of this stuff (in whatever form it comes in) for those who want it and want to pay for it, will be there. Maybe, just maybe.....
All that said, I'm still looking forward to the Super Deluxe and whatever else is coming this year from the band.

yeah it sucks bazzer, we'll not agree on most of this fuck up, but we agree on one thing - its sucks when PJ.com are selling the product, albeit through an ancillary website that appears to have been set up to help us, to different places at different prices....
wtf its not even in my order history so 10c will say i have to contact sony ..its notihng to do with them
Didn't you order it from sonymusic, not 10C? Why would you expect it to be in your 10C order history?!

I bet that the people at Ten Club are discussing if they also should let this box be sold in record stores all over the world as well as online internationally like the Ten Re-issue collector's box set. It should not be more expensive than the Ten re-issue and all international fans are suffering because of the ridiculous prices. If it would be less expensive in a local record store why don't Ten Club support that and distribute it all over the world? I believe they have something to say or is Sony music making all the decisions?
Best of all would be if they sold it in the Goods store internationally and come up with some sort of discount for fan-club members. By doing this they could write $50 as the value of the item (as part of the price is the fan-club membership fee and no custom officer will start any investigation about what a fan-club offer their members) and the customs internationally wouldn't charge international buyers with taxes (VAT) that we must pay to our own countries. We would all be happier and have some more money left to spend on upcoming pj goods. Some people have already said they won't buy it so please Ten Club, we need some answers and clever decisions...
i think im so tired to do that again like ten deluxe box..that i pay 350 euros extra for 2 boxes in my door to the ups guy..UPS fuck us then, now will be sony and courier company(will be ups again i guess)...
thanks to 10c ,i got my money,Santos refund me all the money i pay to 10c for the 2 boxes.
so ups get 350 euros and 10c nothing
only one thought i have in mind..refund and buy it from usa via a 10c friend and mail to me..
i pay 70 $ shipping for 72 cds,the 2000 bootlegs from usa ,with insurance, registered with tracking number expreess shipping,in 5 days was in my door ,this will be more or less the same.im going that way
im not gonna study now and read and ask all that economy crap-company policy and start to say stuff here in the forum with friends,,im done..
and still waiting for those shitty universal to refund the lo10l

would be cool if we could collect SUPER DELUXE BOX from Sony's headquarters or warehouse which is located maybe somebody's next door,..
but this will never happen,..
Usually the VAT is included in the listing price and it gets corrected after you specify your country which doesn't make for a big difference in the price if there is any.
The import duty is a different thing. I had to pay this more than once and it depends on the value of the package and also how it's sent. Envelopes are usually skipped. The shipping price is also counted when calculating the import.
You are charged this when your package is delivered not before.

no import duty cos they ship it from Europe country to Europe country...

I really think Ten Club should make a decision to start selling this in record stores internationally as well as online. It's all bullshit with the 6 bonus track! They should be available for all with a download code in the box as well as the tracks on the cd and vinyl. The complete concert should be available for download if they can't put a third vinyl record of the Orpheum gig. And it shouldn't matter if you pre-order or not or buy it in your local record store or the cheapest place you find online - you should get the complete concert as a download, anyhow!
Jesus Christ they can be greedy at the Ten Club!! When so many people got ripped last time with the Ten Re-issue, having to pay some "courier handling fees" that no one knew about when we ordered and that should be included in the shipping fee! Now they wan't to make sure that the money comes into their own hands and make it exclusive to pearljam.com and sony international. What they should be doing is make sure that the fans don't put their every last cent on these ridiculously expensive goods and let the products be sold internationally from every possible channel and we'll have some money to pay our bills. I guess that they could take all the complains last time when other places sold it cheaper than Ten Club so that they only sell from the Goods section and sony this time. The membership discount and re-writing of the value of the box sold by Ten Club internationally, that I've written about in other threads would be the best the Ten Club could do but I guess it's a little late for that

I believe that normally the VAT is included in the price and not specified in any way except for the receipt you get in the package (or buying food in your local store). But I think that the price of 120€ ($165) should be a VAT included price because the price is $150 (~109€) in the Goods section on pearljam.com. We would not complain this much if the 120€ price would include the VAT. When goods are purchased from a person within the EU from a store in another EU membership country the VAT is usually included and it's the responsibility of every membership country to make sure that the VAT-part goes to the right country. I have a doubt that that Sony international has f*cked this up somehow and now they charge the "wrong" price.
Edit: the price on sony international is €149.86EUR ($206.25) before shipping. Can this be explained somehow? This all is so confusing! Please Santos answer... I know it's 4:17 in Seattle so we can wait ... Please make it available in record stores and online internationally!

What record stores?

The local record stores some of us have in our cities... and also online record stores like amazon. I'm not sure about play.com and cdwow.com as I believe they are located on the island of Jersey, which is excluded from the EU tax zone, which means that we have to pay VAT when we receive the package in our EU country, unlike amazon in the UK or Germany.
