    I'm with ya holmes, I miss 'em here in Texas too, but there's LOTS of places that have gone a while without them. I remember thinking at the 03 Dallas show that they just don't seem to like it here. You know how some nights musicians love what they do and other nights it's their job? Well, I got the feeling that they were just doing their jobs that night. The venue they play here is a dump, and it's in a dump of a neighborhood, I don't think their sales are too strong here, and they see a bunch of rednecks at their shows and get a bad taste in their mouths about the place. I felt the exact same thing when I saw Incubus play here last year. Maybe it's just me. I'm from here so I can say this, but Dallas has no character, it's not a stop anyone would look forward to. I can't think of a single place that any of the band members would like to visit while here.

    Having said all that, there's a good chance they'll come when they announce more dates later on.

    I remember in the 03 Dallas show he said it would be a while before they came back. Im going to try to make it to an east coast show but keeping my hopes up for a 2nd leg around ACL. Id rather see an outdoor show in Texas at the end of Sept rather than in June or July anyways...

    2 times in the last week, i've gotten an email from the superpages.com center (Formerly the Smirnoff/Starplex Ampitheater) in Dallas for Season Tickets.

    They list about 10 bands coming to Dallas this summer, and both times, Pearl Jam has been one of the bands listed.

    No, they do not list a date. I've been trying to find it out.

    Here's the text from the email:

    Superpages.com Center (formerly Smirnoff Music Centre) season tickets are now available. All ticket packages includes guaranteed seats for all shows, VIP parking, club access, and more. Over 30 shows are scheduled or pending for the 2008 season including Rush, John Mellencamp, Duran Duran, Radiohead, Sheryl Crow, The Police, John Mayer, Toby Keith, Santana, and Pearl Jam!!

    Season Packages & Prices:

    * Super Seasons: $8,000/seat
    * Box Seats: $4,375/seat

    On the other hand, the San Antonio show that year might have been the happiest I've ever seen them. And it was two days after the Denver controversy, too.

    Maybe it was just because it was Mikey's birthday, I dunno. But it's the only show I've ever been to -- and probably one of the only PJ shows ever -- where we got an extra song AFTER Ledbetter.

    Just be patient. I'm pretty sure this was only one leg of the tour. The rumors about ACL are pretty strong and I can't see them coming to Texas and only playing one show. In the meantime.....See ya at MSG (hopefully).

    I concur. I should have mentioned that. I was at the SA show that year too and it was one of the better shows I've seen them play. They were in a good mood that night. I recall the mexican PJ fan was out in full force that night, waiving flags and showing lots of enthusiasm as they do so well. They opened with Of The Girl, sweet.

    I totally agree! That being said the least they can do is bring their asses back to Texas and play San Antonio and The Woodlands.

    Yea, PJ can park in the wonderous strip mall parking lot behind the Backyard. Sorry to vent, I lived in Austin for ten years and saw a many Backyard shows. The recent complaints of the new strip mall behind the Backyard has put an awful dent into the Keep Austin Weird campaign..........

    Hope it's ok if I double post, but I just ranked my PJ shows. Lots of Texas compared with SoCal shows..... SA 03 comes in at #2, but that #1 is hard to beat.

    2 consenting opinions here:

    1. San Antonio was an awesome show and the band seemed to be having a blast.

    2. The Backyard here in Austin is way less cooler now. Not just cause of the stripmall- the venue itself is a lot worse. They cut down all the cool trees on the inside. Sure, you can pack more people in now, but it just seemed a whole lot prettier back in the late 90s when I used to go to shows.

    Bush being from Texas, is more reason for them to play here. It's not the ones supporting bush that go to the shows. It'll be the ones who have to deal with those that support bush; that will be going to the show.

    Another state fair show like in 2000 would be great; drunk carni's and all.

    Fuck this shit.

    I am officially trying for Boston, if my boss will give me the days off. I have the miles for a free flight and I have a free lodging in Providence, RI.

    All I need is my boss's approval and to not get shut out of tickets. Thursday will be a very stressful day for me.

    But, yeah, them not playing Texas is bullshit.

    However, we sill have the ACL rumor and that superpages.com email to hold on to.

    Source? Because the ACL rumor has them playing playing ACL on 9/28.

    I wish I knew this was a sure thing because then I would skip trying for Boston.

    Let me guess....your going to the east coast shows?

    The dates have been published, then confirmed, no more "planned" shows, so I'm heading east. Same shows as u2mofo@u2.com will be attending and I got a low number. :)
