Can anyone provide an update on Backspacer sales numbers? I'm curious if Amongst the Waves has done anything. Also, how's it compare right now to S/T?
Well, since the album has not re-entered the Billboard 200 since the release of "Amongst The Waves," and since "Amongst The Waves" hasn't even been able to crack the Top 25 at rock radio, I think it's fair to say that "Amongst The Waves" has been a complete non-factor.
I just purchased the 10c Vinyl so you can add 1 more to the tally
Same..+1..get on that..
'I want to hurry home to you
put on a slow, dumb show for you
and crack you up
so you can put a blue ribbon on my brain
god I'm very, very frightening
and I'll overdo it'
hisdailydouble usually has the total US sales for an upcoming release album's artist last album. But whenever PJ has an upcoming release HDD never seems to have them on.

Actually I don't think that increases it by one.
There was that whole debacle in the 90's where they changed how they calculate sales. Pearl Jam held the 1st week sales record with vs. until the changes were made. It used to be albums sold. It's now albums shipped. So you don't need to sell a million albums in a week (not like anyone could anymore), just ship 'em out.. and it doesn't matter how long it takes to sell 'em.
sorry to hit you a technicality... I still think it was unfair to change it in the 90's in what seemed to be an attempt to let other bands take the record. (which means as your album as already shipped to the 10c, its probably already counted)

No. Those are separate things. Soundscan measures how many are actually sold. The RIAA certifies by how many were shipped. Soundscan did change how weekly sales were counted the same week Live on @ Legs came out. That week Garth Brooks live album also came out and broke PJ's record for 1st week sales. I think before the sales week ended on Friday. The new way ended on Sunday. If i remember correctly.

I stand corrected. I guess "The Champ" did increase sales by 1.... It's like a misheard song lyric.. I completely misunderstood how that worked. oops
Holy smokes! Looking at the other "popular" artists and what they racked up in their past releases certainly says that you can't pay the rent on album sales and you really need to tour and sell merchandise. Then, as a part of doing business, taking the family to exotic places. Sure explains the genesis of the "Please play the South" thread.
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river
