Front row last year at MSG 2 with my girlfriend! Every moment from the second I was aware I had won the lottery to after the show when we were dragging our exhausted bodies back to the subway to find our way back to our friends home.

Columbia 2008. I hadn't been to a show in 5 years, had great seats and there was an intense vibe from the crowd. Eddie even mentioned how it felt. I live in Alabama and don't think like most people here so to be around thousands of at least similar mindset felt spectacular.

There are so many (though not that many concerts) and it´s been a while so I can´t pick one out. But another Pearl Jam related live experience that I will never forget was at the 2001 Roskilde Festival.

A year after the tragedy of nine people killed during Pearl Jam´s set I was back in front of the orange canopy scene to hear Patti Smith. During the concert I had to go to the men´s room situated to the left of the stage (not far from the memorial place). While I was emptying my blatter suddenly I heard the opening riff of "Alive" and at first I just couldn´t place it - never having seen or heard Patti Smith before. But in a few seconds it all fell into place and I hurried out of the lavatory - still unzipped - something I had to do on my way out. (To this day I´m still unsure wether or not pee was spilled all over). But there was no doubt in my mind at the time that I had to get out and experience this up front and personal. Every second counted. And my god did Patti kick the ass out that song - giving it her own interpretation and simultanously paying a huge homage to the greatest band in the world and helping the band and the Roskilde Festival along with its audience to heel the wounds still bleeding a year later - more than I think she´s aware.

In 200 I was crying tears of despair and sorrow and a year later I was at the exact same place crying tears of joy and hope - for myself, for the Roskilde Festival, for the families to the dead and to the band who hopefully has been informed about this magical moment.

There have been many occasions of happy tears connected to Pearl Jam - the band, its music and its very mature and responsible way of dealing with stardom in every way. One of the moments that stand out is their 2007 Copenhagen "reconciliation" concert.
And he still gives his love,
    he just gives it away...
