I think I need to take a rest. You already listened to Lisbon right??

Yeah I've listened to Milan, Lisbon, Spain - liked that one, and Prague

I'm going to listen to Lisbon again :D Compare it to Spain

Lisbon's Of the Girl is the opening song of the set, beautiful mood but I don't know whether the long pause would stop the flow of the compilation? Otherwise Lisbon is pretty darn good

edit: I'm listening to the Insignificance from San Sebastien, Spain now. Pretty good.

I can cut the pause out during the editing process.

So if we've settled on I got you, that's the version to add to the gap.

Looks great. I'm just about to load up the existing selections in sequence for the first time. Have been getting a lot from each of the individual songs tonight. Will report back on my reaction to the overall effect in a bit!

Currently running through all the versions from the shows we haven't used yet. So far, Cardiff seems to be the best, but haven't listened to Oslo yet ...

Edit : along with San Sebastian, Spain.

Am listening right through to the working tracklist. It's very good, but I am not entirely satisfied with the current version of Light Years as it fits with the overall piece- for reasons that it would be hard for me to explain right now. I'm wondering about setting electricxlovex the challenge of finding some alternative versions to choose from - so we can listen to them alongside the others in the mix. And I'm going to have to go to bed in the next hour or so too. So I'll have a further listen with a fresh ear tomorrow.

    Yep, Oslo's a good one.
It's a tie between Cardiff and Oslo for me.
But I'm not even sure which version I'm listening to right now, they all seem to sound the same after a while.

Yeah, it will soon be time for us Europeans to go to bed, and reconvene in the daylight. A very good start though, and some good work by all!

Actually electricxlove - it's a bit much and would be a bit heavy expecting you to listen to so many versions of Light Years. I am going to bed now, but in the morning I will listen to a range of versions and try and make some suggestions that I think might work. Goodnight everybody, and thanks for all the input today. The collection is sounding great!

    Morning all!

Before breakfast I have listened to the project so far, and when I got to Light Years I went on a bit of a detour and listened to a range of different versions from the Euro boots. I have found two alternative versions, both of which I find work better for me in the spirit of this collection when placed within it - and wanted to know your thoughts. They are quite different performances I would say - a 'strong' one, and a 'softer' one.

The strong one is Katowice, with a bit of talking before, which we might or might not include. Clear and powerful vocals.

The second, which I do prefer, and it gives me goosebumps listening back, is Prague - a softer quite mournful tone, which I also think fits with the tone of our Nothing as it seems, and made me reflect more on the theme of our collection, a beautifully subtle and moving performance.

Both of these I think work better than our current version of Light Years, which although it is a great and moving version sounds to me quite specific and 'personal', and has some extra lines added to the song, whereas the two versions I have highlighted here are very moving without any additions or extras which take the song into different places.

So I my personal preference from the ones I have listened to this morning would be Prague, but I would also think Katowice would work well for our collection, now that I have been able to listen to the larger piece. What do you think?

"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
    "..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."

Yeah, I really enjoy that boot. Even though God's Dice is a pointless song to me.

How come you chose the Katowice Rival over Milan or Sweden? Curious.

Guess you were asking Dimitris about this, but as far as I'm concerned, I thought Stockholm & Katowice 1 had equally good Rival, yet Katowice had this little 'wild' thing that Stockholm didn't have, although Stockholm is really tight. Was tough to pick one over another though.
As for Milan, such a great show, but we try, as much as possible and when it's relevant, to pick performances from different shows.

Is it me, or does Oslo have a little bit more "punch" in the later half of the song?

But I bet they are sort of equal :)But to my ear Oslo has a slight edge.

Ok, cool. Will listen to it again.

from eddie voice..he is singing it more angry..ok he speaks and say this "before..eh,he.." when drums start but its better in my ears..the sweden one is better in the solos mike doing..

    Bonus Song #3 is ???

IMO I am not a fan of adding one of these as a bonus: Last Kiss, Leaving Here, RitFW.

Could see another cover, YL, or an Improv. (Improv would not close the set though)
