The trades have been sadly neglected by governments and many areas are at a shortage of the skilled trades. The governments subsidize post secondary education, why do they not subsidize apprenticeships the same?
that's a good question that i can't answer. I do however know that some apprenticeships program do pay their student and that might be a reason for teh lack of funding by the government.0 -

did you read that pm? i am sure that if anyone else had gotten a pm that vile they would have considered posting it to show everyone what kind of a person we are dealing with here. i guess i am just saying that the pm and posting the pm were both inappropriate actions...
but back on topic, if this country placed the emphasis on education instead of glorifying self promotion, getting rich quick, and being a hustler, and rewarding attention whores we might move up in the world. look at japan and china. education is a cornerstone of their society and culture. look at america where you are considered a dork if you excel at school and if you happen to be born rich you get your own tv show, an example of this is paris hilton, who is a dumbass who happened to be born rich and famous yet contributes nothing to society at all. a couple of years ago a local casino here paid her $300,000 to show up for 3 hours and help open up their new vegas-style club. and thousands of people waited in line to see her. what a joke...and if you are self centered and conniving enough you get to end up on shows like the real world, jersey shore, survivor etc and you get rich and famous that way. nobody does anything legitimately anymore because it is easier to drop out of school and earn a living as a hustler.
if we emphasized education more culturally, then in a few generations we might not be a society full of idiots."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."0 -

the first person i ever saw post a PM (which the mods deleted and was under his old banned user name) is the same person you are so concerned that satansbed posted a pm from.
oh the irony.0 -

What irony...any time I see anyone post a pm I think their actions are wrong and they are being a crybaby.
I'm concerned whenever anyone does something slimy like that. Aren't you? Or do you only care if it's certain posters?hippiemom = goodness0 -

I don't know if education is a right but it is a damn good idea. Smart people=better everything."First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win ."

I dont think education should be a requirement, i think if you choose not to go to school there should not be any fall out from your desicion, high school's get money for there rate of gradution, higher the rate usually more money you get from goverment programs and such, one of the reasons high schools are so concerned with truant kids and so quick to inform parents about absents and lateness, they wan't every body to graduate,
to make themselves look good. I think if a kid decides he/she has had enough of school they should be able to walk away unharrassed. This is soppossed rto be a free country and our pets have more rights than our kids.0 -

I see your point but to play devil's advocate most kids don't understand what they may be throwing away by dropping out. So maybe we should force em to go, at least until their 18?"First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win ."
