I have to say I really laughed when I first heard about Trump running. The more I thought about it though, the more sense it makes. He's already a billionaire, so I don't think he'll be in anyone's back pocket. He hates Wall Street, or at least he hates the way they do business. He's been bankrupt, bailed out, and probably has more economic sense than any president we've ever had. Not to mention, he'd probably be the hardest of hard asses when it comes to his staff and running this country as a business.

I find myself really praying that Palin doesn't run, or worse yet get the nomination.

Palin running = entertainment for all
Palin with the nomination = Obama presidency for 4 more years.

    **note I'm ok with both.

Agree. Trump has been there done that. I think he is who we need in 2012.

Sarà un buono consigliere di tempo di guerra? " will he be a good war time counselor ?"
I think some of what we have learned from the last couple presidents is we need a war time commander and chief also, as crappy as it is it's the truth but I guess it would be hard to have both quality's in one president.

  • ^^That's important, but I'd rather have someone with economic smarts (Clinton).

  • I am for Ron Paul all the way but he will never win. It won't be allowed. If he did win the nation would endure some really hard times but things would get better eventually. He would be hated right out the gate though because of the measures and changes he would try to bring about would devastate the nation as it stands now from the ground up but all for the better in my opinion. Nice to dream though.

No to Trump. Come on, people. Can we be realistic? Is this the power that TV has on us? He would not be a good president. Just because he is a good businessman, doesn't mean he would be a good president.

What does TV have to do with it? The very fact that he has some stupid show on TV is the exact reason why I laughed the idea off at first. That's also the reason why it would never work. My opinions are based on the ideas and point of view he's expressed. He is on point with most of what he says Pray tell what would be the makings of a good president? A lack of business knowledge? A lack of economic sense? A lifetime of experience in various public offices? A great understanding of how to buy votes? A thorough knowledge of corruption and how to do it under the radar? Like it or not, with the shit pile we were left with from the previous admin. and the deeper the hole is being dug with the current, a good business man who is a hard ass and can't be bought off with campaign contributions is exactly what we need. Trump probably has enough money stuffed in his golden sock drawer to cover the expenses of his entire campaign, so I doubt he'd need much help getting elected.

First, I don't care how much money he has to buy an election.
Second, what I meant was the persona he puts forth on TV - how else does anyone on this board know him? how else does anyone know him - is not necessarily the type of person he is and the type of president he would be. We know nothing about him other than what he has stated to the media. As far as "My opinions are based on the ideas and point of view he's expressed. He is on point with most of what he says," I'm not sure that this is trustworthy. What does he know of foreign policy? What does he know of war? What does he know about entitlement reform? Healthcare reform?
I am all for having someone run for office that IS NOT a career politician, but I do not think Trump is a valid choice. If Trump, then why not Bill Gates?
  • hello hello hello, is there anybody in there? just nod if you can hear me. is there anyone home?

desperately seeking someone with the following qualities.

must have Ron Pauls stance on foreign policy, have a heart like Obamas and some good old Kucinich all mixed into one.
