Why are we all so convinced 1) that there is any announcement, 2) that said announcement is about a tour, and 3) that said tour is going to be in Australia?
IF there's a tour, why would it be in Australia? Didn't they just play there last year? And why would they post a cryptic message about everyone having their memberships current etc, if the announcement was about a tour that truly only impacted a fraction of their fans? Let's be honest, Aussie fans are just as passionate as the rest of us, but for sure far less numerous. IF there's an impending big announcement, then my guess is that is has to do with far more than just Australia...
per the tweet, the thought is that it would be an Ed Solo tour, not Pearl Jam.
It is assumed that it would be in AUS due to the info we are working on.
The hope of the rabid US folks is that there would be a few US dates as well or that we are reading into it wrong and it is in fact US dates (not likely at this point)
also, in regards to your first question, they always precurse tour date announcements with the heads up tweet. Generally nothing else. At least since i started coming here many years ago.

Think of it: I would definitely travel overseas to see PJ; its definitely doubtful that I would do the same to see Ed solo (as much as I love Ed). That's probably true for most PJ/Ed fans.
It just makes no sense that a message directed to all 10c members, implying a big announcement (that most 10c members anticipate will impact them directly) would be about a tour in Australia...which if that is indeed the announcement, would impact only a small percentage of PJ/Ed fans. Doesn't add up...

All they have to say is sorry, no news today. That's it. When they post a Tweet on Friday to say be up to date at the end of the weekend, and historically they release news immediately after that then yeah, people have a right to feel entitled to at least an update as to when we will hear something. Not entitled to news but entitled to at least an update when they know people are begging for information and refreshing for hours. Of course no one is pointing a gun at people's heads and forcing them to do that but I completely understand that the band means a ton to some of you and you don't want to risk missing tickets going on sale immediately or something. The 10C/Management have that little amount of respect for the fans that they cause people to do that?
It's an endless cycle around here. The same thing happens all of the time. They either tease us with something or newsbreaks elsewhere....then people ask questions/complain.....then people are yelled at for bitching and feeling entitled....then arguments ensue and people are unhappy....i chime in and complain ....then they finally release the news or just ignore it completely and never say a word about it. Remember just a few short weeks ago when people shelled out money for the LOTL box set as a pre-order and the 10 Club wouldn't so much as say it's real or we are working on it? This has been going on for so long and part of me feels as though they love doing this to the members. I have fiercely defended the 10 Club and the mods the past year regarding them not being allowed to release news and I stand by that. But there is zero reason they can't chime in at some point and give some sort of update but they can lock a thread because it's "rude" to discuss that not everyone appreciates the music of Brad. Doing this to your fans/customers isn't rude?
And to those who get mad that people complain and feel entitled, I understand you feel that way and your mind won't be changed. You don't have to respond to this. I'm not looking to start an argument with you and I respect your opinion on the matter. Please respect the opinion of those who feel differently. Can't we all just get along? :thumbup:

From the tweet, I don't see anything that indicated when the timing of this announcement may be - it will come when it is ready. We've just been given the heads up to make sure our memberships are financial before a set cut off date. We're all in, now there when the announcement comes, there will be another waiting period before whatever it is (and I hope it is an Aussie tour) goes on sale.
I'm guessing there are a few things in the pipeline for this year. My reasoning behind this:
1. They've been blowing away all the old stock on hand in the store (and have been doing load testing).
2. That promo for Live On Ten Legs, looks to me to be part of a larger collection of edited footage - maybe a DVD or that movie Cameron Crow is meant to be working on.
3. Given the coming LO10L release, I'd expect some kind of event (tour/promo) to support it eventually.

I've seen this (^^stuff in bold) being said in here a few times, and I think its kinda crazy to jump to those kinds of conclusions. (just my opinion too). I keep picturing Dr.Evil and his wierd cat when I hear people say this. I like to think they are just busy and dont know the full extent of the details yet. Do you really think they know things and are sitting back laughing at what is going on here?
Also, to put things into perspective -- there might be 20-30 people sitting around hitting 'refresh' in here... and that is pretty hard core folks i guess, but if you think like the 10c/management, they probably see it as 20-30 obsessive folks out of the 15,000 that come to any single show... can't make everyone happy, and that .001% can just suffer.
but who knows what's going on? ... maybe there is one date left to confirm with one promoter in one city and he just needs to have his lawyer read over the final agreement and sign it ... so, it could come today but if it doesn't ... it could be tomorrow ... who knows? ... i understand people want to know instantly ... it's part of our nature i guess ...

You haven't been here long have you? They've done this kind of thing a bunch of times before. They certainly want to give people a heads up that something's in the works. Once they make the announcement of a tour it's too late to renew/join so they send a tweet early hinting at what's to come and giving a membership deadline. They know that people will (try to) figure out what it means and some may jump to the wrong conclusions. In fact, if you want you can ignore the tweet and wait for the official anouncement but if you're not current you'll miss out.
