If the show is in Oz, wouldn't it make sense to announce it when aussies ae awake and not during their nighttime.
yes it would!! but have they not had ample time to tease and frustrate us yet? I am one of many who are OVER it!! (see it's made me all whiny!)

Again...where on Earth have we concluded that it is Australia? I can see the "one man stands alone" reference meaning a solo tour, but Australia? Oz = Australia? That still doesn't answer the question as to why they would send a message to all 10c members when the impending announcement truly impacts a fraction of 10c members (and PJ fans in general). Think of it: I would definitely travel overseas to see PJ; its definitely doubtful that I would do the same to see Ed solo (as much as I love Ed). That's probably true for most PJ/Ed fans.

It just makes no sense that a message directed to all 10c members, implying a big announcement (that most 10c members anticipate will impact them directly) would be about a tour in Australia...which if that is indeed the announcement, would impact only a small percentage of PJ/Ed fans. Doesn't add up...
You haven't been here long have you? They've done this kind of thing a bunch of times before. They certainly want to give people a heads up that something's in the works. Once they make the announcement of a tour it's too late to renew/join so they send a tweet early hinting at what's to come and giving a membership deadline. They know that people will (try to) figure out what it means and some may jump to the wrong conclusions. In fact, if you want you can ignore the tweet and wait for the official anouncement but if you're not current you'll miss out.

Again...where on Earth do we conclude that any impending announcement has to do with AUSTRALIA? Oz = Australia? I'm familiar with the tweets and heads-up they usually give about memberships etc...that's not what's confusing me. What's confusing me is how everyone is so convinced that it has
anything to do with Australia. Nowhere in the tweet did it say the word "Oz" and in any event, the reference could be to the scarecrow and the whole "if I only had a brain [I would've made sure my membership was current]" (as has been suggested). And if we're all scrupulously analyzing the tweet for clues, why has no one focused on what "WTH?" means? I'm not really up on my text lingo, but I'm familiar with the text phrase "WTF?", but I've never heard someone use the phrase "WTH?" Couldn't "WTH" mean something?

Let's be truly analytical about this. What do we know (not what we speculate or assume):

    1) they've done this type of thing before and it usually precedes an announcement of some sort
    2) whatever "news" is coming is likely to impact 10c members (i.e. the mention of membership dates)

We can speculate as to what the message means or will be, but the only thing certain is that 10c members are put on notice that their memberships should be current if they want to partake in whatever is coming. It doesn't make much sense that the message is "10c members get your memberships current because we're announcing something that will impact about a tenth of you."

As I said before, I think there's just as much a case for a broader announcement that will directly impact or interest all 10c members than there is one for just Aussie members. But this is classic pattern thinking: most people predetermine their conclusions about a given situation, attach to a thought or a conclusion absent conscious analysis, and then spend the rest of their time trying to prove that said conclusion is true, rather than objectively assessing the situation. That's not a bad thing; it just is the way people operate. So if we've determined that there is an announcement and the announcement is about a tour and it is going to be in Australia, then I'm not surprised that some of us have spent over 140+ pages trying to prove that our conclusion is correct. But frankly, I'd say there's not a lot to back that conclusion up, other than our own personal hopes and wishes.

Right, here's what I think on this. We all want to get our memberships in order and we should have done by now unless we are complete imbeciles. There are likely to be a host of tour dates announced in the coming months, and there will be cut off dates (short term ones). The first cut off date for the looming announcement could well apply to Australia only (Oz), and the tickets will be limited to members current before Monday (See tweet). It may also apply to other regions, and the tweet may of course be nothing to do with Oz, but it could mean 'Oz first'. The reason we strongly believe it is a tour announcement is that nobody can remember a time when a tweet saying membership up to date wasn't about a tour announcement. The address thing is probably 'Local residents only', as registered by Monday.

    Make sense?

  • so many people are saying that we are all reading too much in to this 'oz' thing but as an Aussie I can tell you that it is DESPERATION!! being sooo far away from everywhere else means we don't always get shows that we want (and before anyone gets cranky I KNOW it is the same or worse for some other countries!) I personally didn't think we would EVER get a solo EV tour. so if it IS - I am sooooo damn excited! :D

  • Australian/NZ Big Day Out Festival second lineup announcement in 3 hours on the Fasterlouder.com website. Coincidence? Wouldn't it be hilarious if the tweet has nothing to do with Australia...

BDO, Man I hope not, that has turned into the biggest pile of crap over the years (or my 41 years have finally caught up with me). I'm hoping for a Ed at a venue like this:

Please not BDO...Paul speaks the truth....Big pile of steamy crap....would rather shave my back whilst chewing on tinfoil than do another BDO...It won't be BDO...

I don't think it's too much of a quantum leap to read two obvious references to the Wizard of Oz as referring to 'Oz', and 'One man stands alone' as implying a solo tour

He will not play BDO, and Bluesfest i think is out of the question as well. Too late.

Definitely not Big Day Out.. that would totally be the wrong environment for an EV solo show.

Why too late for Bluesfest? It's not until April next year and there is still a second artist announcement to come. And Ben is playing next year. :)

I don't think its been answered...

Why are we all so convinced 1) that there is any announcement, 2) that said announcement is about a tour, and 3) that said tour is going to be in Australia?

IF there's a tour, why would it be in Australia? Didn't they just play there last year? And why would they post a cryptic message about everyone having their memberships current etc, if the announcement was about a tour that truly only impacted a fraction of their fans? Let's be honest, Aussie fans are just as passionate as the rest of us, but for sure far less numerous. IF there's an impending big announcement, then my guess is that is has to do with far more than just Australia...
I think you completely underestimate Australia's love for PJ! believe me Aussie Jammers are in mass!
