Australian/NZ Big Day Out Festival second lineup announcement in 3 hours on the Fasterlouder.com website. Coincidence? Wouldn't it be hilarious if the tweet has nothing to do with Australia...

We always get told AFTER the official festival sites make their announcements...

BDO, Man I hope not, that has turned into the biggest pile of crap over the years (or my 41 years have finally caught up with me). I'm hoping for a Ed at a venue like this:

From the tweet, I don't see anything that indicated when the timing of this announcement may be - it will come when it is ready. We've just been given the heads up to make sure our memberships are financial before a set cut off date.

    Ditto that. Keep refreshing folks.

All they have to say is sorry, no news today. That's it. When they post a Tweet on Friday to say be up to date at the end of the weekend, and historically they release news immediately after that then yeah, people have a right to feel entitled to at least an update as to when we will hear something. Not entitled to news but entitled to at least an update when they know people are begging for information and refreshing for hours. Of course no one is pointing a gun at people's heads and forcing them to do that but I completely understand that the band means a ton to some of you and you don't want to risk missing tickets going on sale immediately or something. The 10C/Management have that little amount of respect for the fans that they cause people to do that?

It's an endless cycle around here. The same thing happens all of the time. They either tease us with something or newsbreaks elsewhere....then people ask questions/complain.....then people are yelled at for bitching and feeling entitled....then arguments ensue and people are unhappy....i chime in and complain :D ....then they finally release the news or just ignore it completely and never say a word about it. Remember just a few short weeks ago when people shelled out money for the LOTL box set as a pre-order and the 10 Club wouldn't so much as say it's real or we are working on it? This has been going on for so long and part of me feels as though they love doing this to the members. I have fiercely defended the 10 Club and the mods the past year regarding them not being allowed to release news and I stand by that. But there is zero reason they can't chime in at some point and give some sort of update but they can lock a thread because it's "rude" to discuss that not everyone appreciates the music of Brad. Doing this to your fans/customers isn't rude?

And to those who get mad that people complain and feel entitled, I understand you feel that way and your mind won't be changed. You don't have to respond to this. I'm not looking to start an argument with you and I respect your opinion on the matter. Please respect the opinion of those who feel differently. Can't we all just get along?

Again...where on Earth have we concluded that it is Australia? I can see the "one man stands alone" reference meaning a solo tour, but Australia? Oz = Australia? That still doesn't answer the question as to why they would send a message to all 10c members when the impending announcement truly impacts a fraction of 10c members (and PJ fans in general). Think of it: I would definitely travel overseas to see PJ; its definitely doubtful that I would do the same to see Ed solo (as much as I love Ed). That's probably true for most PJ/Ed fans.

It just makes no sense that a message directed to all 10c members, implying a big announcement (that most 10c members anticipate will impact them directly) would be about a tour in Australia...which if that is indeed the announcement, would impact only a small percentage of PJ/Ed fans. Doesn't add up...
You haven't been here long have you? They've done this kind of thing a bunch of times before. They certainly want to give people a heads up that something's in the works. Once they make the announcement of a tour it's too late to renew/join so they send a tweet early hinting at what's to come and giving a membership deadline. They know that people will (try to) figure out what it means and some may jump to the wrong conclusions. In fact, if you want you can ignore the tweet and wait for the official anouncement but if you're not current you'll miss out.

Again...where on Earth do we conclude that any impending announcement has to do with AUSTRALIA? Oz = Australia? I'm familiar with the tweets and heads-up they usually give about memberships etc...that's not what's confusing me. What's confusing me is how everyone is so convinced that it has
anything to do with Australia. Nowhere in the tweet did it say the word "Oz" and in any event, the reference could be to the scarecrow and the whole "if I only had a brain [I would've made sure my membership was current]" (as has been suggested). And if we're all scrupulously analyzing the tweet for clues, why has no one focused on what "WTH?" means? I'm not really up on my text lingo, but I'm familiar with the text phrase "WTF?", but I've never heard someone use the phrase "WTH?" Couldn't "WTH" mean something?

Let's be truly analytical about this. What do we know (not what we speculate or assume):

    1) they've done this type of thing before and it usually precedes an announcement of some sort
    2) whatever "news" is coming is likely to impact 10c members (i.e. the mention of membership dates)

We can speculate as to what the message means or will be, but the only thing certain is that 10c members are put on notice that their memberships should be current if they want to partake in whatever is coming. It doesn't make much sense that the message is "10c members get your memberships current because we're announcing something that will impact about a tenth of you."

As I said before, I think there's just as much a case for a broader announcement that will directly impact or interest all 10c members than there is one for just Aussie members. But this is classic pattern thinking: most people predetermine their conclusions about a given situation, attach to a thought or a conclusion absent conscious analysis, and then spend the rest of their time trying to prove that said conclusion is true, rather than objectively assessing the situation. That's not a bad thing; it just is the way people operate. So if we've determined that there is an announcement and the announcement is about a tour and it is going to be in Australia, then I'm not surprised that some of us have spent over 140+ pages trying to prove that our conclusion is correct. But frankly, I'd say there's not a lot to back that conclusion up, other than our own personal hopes and wishes.

I'm not seeing the big deal. They said for everybody to make sure they had their memberships up to date because something was coming... they didn't say when the announcement would be. We need to take into account all of the other factors that may be playing a role. Things in this business can change so abruptly. For all we know, they may have had us update our memberships because the final plan could've been nailed down as early as Monday, though it could be a little later... but if it came later and somebody wasn't given enough time or notice, we'd be hearing about it then too. Maybe it's in their control, maybe it's not. I'm not sure I understand how people can sit by a website all day based off of pure speculation and self-interpretations. If it's for something rare out of the Goods section and I miss out, life goes on. If it's tickets, I agree, sale dates are often short notice but I don't recall ever seeing an announcement that set us up to have to buy immediately at the time of the announcement or we're screwed.

To each their own, but I'm going to just check in here and there throughout the day. Staying on the website all day long for something that may or may not appeal to me just isn't for me. Good luck to all.
