Thumb Sucking......

...........ugh. I have two sons, ages 11 and 15 and they both STILL suck their thumbs!!
I see no end to it. The orthodontist bills are starting and nothing stops these kids. I don't know what to do!!
Any Advice?

    chop their thumbs off... thatll learn 'em.

    my 2nd eldest sucked her thumb til she was 8. when she stopped it took me a couple of months to notice. :lol:

    Yeah, my older son only does it at home, when he's tired.
    But it's in his mouth, just there.
    My younger son, he does it all the time. Doesn't matter where he's at. His thumb just ends up in his mouth.
    I've used all the home remedies and he's overcome them all, even that nasty nailpolish stuff they sell at the pharmacy, he got used to the taste.

    Yikes, dude. I sucked my thumb till I was 7 (which is entirely too old) and my mom made an appointment with the guidance counselor and he got me to stop...though I don't quite remember how he did it.

    Have you tried rewarding them if they manage to not do it? I think you need to offer an incentive to give it up since general social disapproval doesn't seem to be working!! Or maybe punish them if you catch them doing it?! I think it's time to take a harder line!
