so i've never been to a brad show, and i know how small the philadelphia venue is. is it stupid of me to think i might get to meet stone? nothing crazy, just like a picture with him or something? anyone ever been to a brad show?
Absolutely. I've seen Brad twice now, including tonight in Chicago. I've met Stone both times after the shows, and he was the nicest guy. Talked, signed a couple cds(new Brad, one PJ), etc. Just be respectful. I saw the entire band in a restaurant before the show, and didn't approach them. Stood next to Stone in the crowd for the opening band(turned to say something to my wife, and Stone was right next to her...pretty cool) as well. Mentioned both after the show to him, and he thanked us profusely for waiting til after the show. If you do that, I'm pretty sure you'll have a good Stone experience. Best of luck!
I find it odd that they waited until well after tickets went on sale to post this. Well, based on the past few years, it isn't really that odd.
Cool! I'm looking forward to the show. I've just recently become a fan of Brad so I'm trying to bone-up on their material so I'll at least recognize some of their songs.
Pretty cool seeing them at Ear X-tacy this evening in Louisville. They only played two songs because Smith wanted to save his voice for the Brown Theatre...I guess he's still feeling pretty under the weather. Though to make up for it they had a meet and greet afterwards. Cool guys and finally got to meet Stone.

"'Rush Hour' was written by [bassist] Mike Berg. That is very Satchel-like [a '90s band that featured Berg, Smith and Hagar] -- full chord, large, airy and big, but very loud."
I guess since Berg isn't touring with them this time around they're not playing his song?

Amazing night in Philly last night and I am so forever thankful I got the chance to go and even more thankful for these guys, their work, their art, and their dedication. After all, if it weren't for Shawn, Regan, and Stone- we wouldn't be here to talk about them.. What a great night it was last night

I loved Brad last night. Yes home of the Wire. Never knew anything about that show til I met "Bubbles" on a train. Did not know who he (Andre Royo) was and I sat with him and his daughter going from NYC to B'more.
For anyone who has been to a show already, do you know what time the opening band or Brad come on? The ticket for tonight says doors open at 8PM.

That's an amazing story. Getting a train with Bubbles. Brilliant. Best TV show in the history of TV, by the way. It may seem a grand claim, but there's an awful lot of people who'd actually agree with that statement. My friend met Mc Nulty in a pub in County Offaly here in Ireland last week. He's here filming something at a castle in Birr.
Glad you enjoyed the show. A show in Hamsterdam! Do you know the setlist?

I need to scan my pic of Bubbles He was smiling at me and looked friendly, so that's why I sat with them. He sang to me too. what a guy!
Never heard b'more called that. I know of a source for a forthcoming setlist. I remember a few songs like 20th century, secret girl, lift, purple rain, buttercup, now what's that song pj sings about mr. faded glory and the sub teacher? Amazing!

The song is Crown of Thorns. It's a Mother Love Bone song, the band Stone and Jeff were in before Pearl Jam. Andrew, the singer died, but was close friends with Shawn Smith. I've even got a MLB demo of an unreleased track that Shawn plays keyboards on.
I would LOVE to see your picture with Bubbles! Post it!
An explanation of the HAMSTERDAM reference: In 'The Wire' the police chief decides to make a certain area of the projects an unofficial drug dealing zone. The idea being that it takes dealing off every street corner, keeps the public safe, and is easier to police if any violence etc happens. The cops come to tell all the dealers (who are all black, incidentally), that if they deal in that area, and that area only, they will not be busted by the cops. The dealers can't understand it-it's beyond their comprehension that the cops are going to LET them deal. The cop tries to explain, and I'm paraphrasing: "you know, you can do it here, in this area, like Amsterdam" and this dealer says: "Hamsterdam? What the fuck is a HAMSTERDAM!"
So, even though it's in reference to just one of the 'low rise' projects in Baltimore, I always call Baltimore "HAMSTERDAM".
