no i think they are pissed off this has got out before they wanted it to...
i dont think its got anything to do with money...your talking a few cents per cd sold..if that..
its about the controlling the music not the bottom line profit ..i think pearl jam as a group and business have shown time and time again they are not driven by money.
Im not saying its the 10c fault for this either.they can only do what the band tell them..
but a "no comment "statement just is not good enough when its been up for sale with two of the biggest players in the uk market. And that can only come from the top..

they run a fan club..its a bussiness the same time..they will not put things they way fans want them only,no bussiness want to loose money...is normal and logic..who knows what will happen, what contracts they make, who do the publicity,,is all bussiness..they try to help fans but the same time run a bussiness, the only thing i know for sure is that when they CAN ,they help immidiatly..
so patience..nothing else we can do for now"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".

quite right......
I dont buy the money angle at all. target recently paid PJ $5,000,000 before a Cd was even sold.......it didnt then matter how many they sold.....
a PJ release will always make the band serious money.
Simple fact remains, we dont knwo enough about the way all this works so we should really comment. Its just frustrating being fully aware that a product is ready to be sold and getting the 'we know nothing' treatment from the bands official HQ.......
that said it doesnt really trouble me, this doesnt sound like new music, its something cool to collect, I am happy its being released at all, I'll buy anything they put out......but tour dates....thats where its all at!!! some of those would be great0 -

10C won't lose any sales right now, because it's impossible to order it from What at the present time anyway. There's no reason whatsoever for 10C not to confirm it, though I don't think they're to blame. They're at the mercy of Pearl Jam's management, after all, and they're not going to be able to confirm anything until they get the OK.
I'm sure 10C probably do their best with what resources they're provided, it's Pearl Jam's management who I blame for any gripes I have with the "business end" of things. But I don't think anyone who's been around for a decent period of time really expects any miracles from either 10C or Pearl Jam management, they don't exactly have a stellar track record of going out of their way to help their fans (who, after all, actually pay money to be a part of the fanclub), so I expect no official announcement until they're good and ready, meanwhile people who've already put their name down with What worry unnecessarily. As I stated, I think 10C do their best, but things like this are out of their hands - that doesn't make it okay, though.
That said, I don't think there's any real obligation on Pearl Jam's management to clear this up - however, it would be the nice, "fan-friendly" thing to do.0 -

soooo..... by any chance this is a reissue? vs./vitalogy era right when the band was in trouble and almost broke up?0
-
c'mon guys, you know the 10c never confirms or denies projects that may or may not officially be in the works
only when something is written in stone (get it) do they issue a statement
this record thing is strange...has been from the start0 -
Dimitris, I for one can't understand the silence. Surely they don't think European customers will shell out to purchase this from them? 10c burned their bridges with us with the Ten super-deluxe set, and the Backspacer cd.
The 10c Backspacer cd purported to offer purchasers access to material that the regular cd version did not. That promise was broken, and people like me ended up paying extra money for a cd that I could purchase for E15 in a shop 100 yards from my house. The only difference? It came in a fancy hardcover case.
The Ten super-deluxe was shipped for free to US customers, yet all overseas customers were charged $50. Outrageous, in my view. With added customs, most of us overseas paid something north of $250. Customs were our fault, yes, but the impression given was that a great number of the sets would be signed and distributed randomly. Neither of these impressions proved to be accurate. 10c knew very well that some of us would sell our souls for the possibility of a signed set, and would take a gamble.
There is not a hope in hell I will purchase this set from the 10c.
Now we have a situation where 10c members have laid out money for a boxset, and are currently in a state of limbo as to the status of their purchase. Nobody is asking for detailed information (though that would be nice). As the serialthrilla and pdalowsky have said, a simple 'yes, the set is coming, full details to follow', would suffice. They could even mention that the 10c will have special offers.
The 10c, as a business, needs to communicate with its loyal customers more often. When we found the things we loved,
They were crushed and dying in the dirt.
We tried to pick up the pieces,
And get away without getting hurt,
But they caught us at the state line,
And burned our cars in one last fight,
And left us running burned and blind,
Chasing something in the night.0 -
agree with most above posts..
but i dont think 10c is a profit run business really...we pay $20-25 to join that should cover most costs..so i cant see 10c giving a hoot where we buy the good from..i dont see it beening run to make any money.
i very much doubt they have any say in setting cost of cds, posters ,t-shirts.

I suppose the bottom line is the tenclub have been put in this position by an over zealous online retailer.....
thats a shame as they are the ones that we now take out our frustrations on....
one thing is for sure, the tenclub do have mission impossible (this fanbase is almost impossible to please constantly) yet they definitely could make things that little bit easier for themselves0 -

this is always the last place information is posted
and they very RARELY confirm or deny rumors
its the one complaint I have always had-the lack of information
but ya know, I seem to forget about that when I pick up my tickets or unroll a sweet poster that I was able to get at the original cost0 -

the proof is all over this thread to be seen ..why true to cover it up be saying "no info at this time".just put peoples mind to rest that have spent alot of money on this.thats not to much to ask..
they want their members buy it from 10c..,i guess u understand that...
dimitris,I totally get what you're saying here. My only problem with your logic, though, is that several people have already expressed here that they would prefer to purchase whatever this is through 10C rather than What Records, and I'm sure most of the US folks feel the same way.
But since 10C has not made any mention of whether or not they will be offering this product ever, many more people probably chose to buy it from What Records just to ensure that they can get a copy. And if it should go back up on What Records, and there is still no word from 10C, even more people will probably buy it from them. However, if 10C would come out and say that yes, this product will be coming out, and that it will be eventually offered here, many people would wait to buy it from here.
Does this make any sense?Columbus, OH 6/24/03

The last line of this post is important. At the end of the day, what do we pay our $20 for from the Ten Club? The answer is premium tickets and access to merchandise. What does the Ten Club do well? Provide premium tickets and access to merchandise. You may not like that the Ten Club doesn't tell you something right away, but at the end of the day it all works out. I feel bad that Europeans have to pay more in shipping, but it goes both ways when Americans order stuff from overseas. Get over it.
We are complaining about the communication and not the result here. I think we should choose to focus on the result rather than hearing news about something a couple weeks later than we'd like. This 30 page thread is a result of impatience and fanaticism, and not the fault of the Ten Club.
Now, tour announcements are a different matter, and that is on the band and its management, and not the Ten Club. We don't need to plan to purchase a CD, but we do need time to plan for vacations and travel.0 -

fair point, but you understand people like and get excited about new Pearl jam releases?
and the 30 page thread is the result of fans being interested in the band and the jumping the gun actions of a record dealer.....coupled with the reluctance for whatever reason for those in the know to put things straight.
Impatience? sorry thats bullshit, excitement is hardly impatience, peoples appetites have been wet, money has been taken, through no fault of the tenclub i will say, but those people have the right to wonder what the hell is going on....so where would one look for the info? the bands fanclub? thats a safe assumption to make, those close to the band? those who represent the band? I think its a natural reaction.
Fanaticism? i think the band are quite thankful for this being part of their fanbase....0 -
^ thanks
but the vinyl could be considered merch
I understand that the collectors are excited about this-heck I am a collector as well!
But as I have said from the beginning there are too many questions surrounding this "release"
I think its crazy to spend that kind of money without knowing what you are getting.0 -

-its a safe assumption for any other fanclub
10C has never been the first source of PJ information-I dont expect them to start anytime soon
Deals are made, products are designed and finalized, distributors are offered products, and THEN the 10C decides how it will offer the product, if at all. Then we are informed. The last to know. As usual. If the 10c is not selling it, they might not say anything at all.
As the band has branched out commercially with the last two records, there have been a lot more unanswered questions-B-sides, free live downloads, bonus tracks on Japanese releases etc..........it is just the way it is.Post edited by Get_Right on0
