How awesome would a 'Soundgarden' appearance at the Bridge School be? I've heard Cornell's acoustic arrangements and they would fit in nicely. Limited sets would'n beat Matt up too bad... although, he will miss the drinking and bullshitting sessions backstage for 2 sets. And they can do a 'Temple of the Dog' set to close out each performance... first night after Soundgarden's set... Sunday after Peal Jam.
    ...
Okay... what did I do with Neil and Pegi's phone number?... I need to call them...

I don't know why I got the feeling is Cornell the problem, well he always be... he was not even on the interview... he is always busy so don't blame it on PJ or Matt is the other guys fault... Matt loves to play and gives a shit the schedule...

  • The only problem with a Soundgarden/Pearl Jam tour is Matt would be a punching bag every night, pulling double duty. Maybe he can do it but playing for 4 hours every night probably doesn't sound like fun to him. Maybe I'm wrong. I sure hope so !!

How is it a REUNION(?), if they don't plan to tour, or put out new music?

Exactly, they have no excuses. Pearl Jam are around the same age and still tour, hell the Stones have done it forever. If they don't tour or release a new album (they need to do at least one of them) then this will be the most non eventful/worst reunion in recent memory. They should add a chapter to their legacy rather than just release a greatest hits album and play a few shows. Do it before you are too old.

If Matt can't handle a full 4 hours both Soundgarden and Pearl Jam could shorten their sets to 1 hour and 40 minutes a piece, so then he's only doing 3 hours and 20 minutes. Still a lot but you shave off 40 minutes, each band could do 90 minutes too if they want an even 3 hours. I know both fan bases would complain about shortened setlists though.

  • I say they are going to wait until they see the sales figures for Telephantasm. If they aren't so great, no tour. If the interest is there, they'll do it.

Seems kinda hokey to just tour on a greatest hits record (their SECOND) with only one new song though. Even STP made a new record. I would hope for some new material before a real tour. Even just an EP would be good.

    Oh, really?

I can't even start to understand this

I can. I've seen Pearl Jam 15-20 times. Seen Soundgarden once, I'd like to catch another Soundgarden show.

    fair enough

Id rather see Pj another 30 times before Id bother myself to go and see Soundgarden, they never did it for me in the day, so this news is great news to me.

If its Pj or SG, there is only ever one winner.....but sure everyone is entitled to their opinion on this

i have seen pearl jam 10 times now and soundgarden 0. i'd much rather see soundgarden then pearl jam anyday of the week.

i think all this talk of no tour is just hype for a band thats falling off the face of the earth. the average music fan doesn't know who soundgarden. also who cares if they wanna be cash cows with a greatest hits release. look at pearl jam with their cash cow reissue idea for all the albums.
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight

Just to clarify, STP started up again in summer (?) 2008 and didn't begin working until summer of 2009 on the album released in 2010. Hokey or not, I'd personally want to see Soundgarden's greatest hits performed over any new material at the present moment.

I don't understand the hate towards Cornell and Soundgarden? I've seen Pearl Jam close to 40 times live, I'd much rather go catch a few Soundgarden shows, and I will probably get flamed for this, but from the youtube videos I've seen I think Cameron sounds way better with Soundgarden, and I think Soundgarden better fits his style. Cornell still has an amazing voice, I saw him in 2007 and he sounded great, not like he did back in the early 90's but come on, neither does Ed. Love both bands, Pearl Jam first of course but come on, why are people so against a soundgarden tour? Its not like pearl jam does full blown tours anymore anyway, they tour for a month, call it a tour, then take a year off. I'm all for a soundgarden tour

  • who really cares about about a long drum set, get jack irons to drum for PJ and have your double gods of grunge tour. to bad for the Layne and the mighty KC.
  • that's right. I saw STP on their first tour. I guess the difference was I KNEW they were working towards a future together. This just seems, I don't know, nothing. Let's be clear, they can do what they want, I just don't know why it got so hyped if they weren't really going to do anything beyond this one unreleased 20 year old song.
