i never said i didnt support the show... its hilarious... these pageant are gonna keep happening either way... i might as well be able to watch... reality TV exists so people can judge... if that makes a few people feel better about themselves then cool

as far as the gay thing goes... no one is grouping them with pedophiles... its opposite ends of the spectrum... im totally cool with gays taking part in this stuff (not to say that being gay automatically means you're interested in fashion and cuteness)... totally against pedophiles (obviously)... dont really see why a guy who is neither would want to take any part in it... is it an assumption? yes.
ha. I think it's cool you at least have the balls to say you support it. I won't bother with the moral argument, nor judge your decision ;) Cause then I'd be judging someone for judging someone who is judging someone, and I'm way too buzzed to get my head around that.
But in defence of my rant, BRY's post did exactly what I said it did...just a bit of a tasteless joke, but I'm not really one to judge ;)

the problem is the people that watch it for the humor/trainwreck aspect...there's really no other reason a network/producer would do it....it makes money because people consider it a guilty pleasure

and i am by no means judging the people that do watch it...i totally get it...i'm probably gonna get wasted in a few minutes and watch jersey shore so i'm as guilty as the next guy

it's the toddler pageants that i have a real problem with...those children do not want to do it...their fucking lowlife mothers put them into it and to me it's the same as if they sold their kids as sex slaves

The harsh predictions about these kids becoming drug addicts, or worse *gasp* some kind of slut stripper, were a bit much....(I mean... youre talking about the kids themselves - give em a chance at least, christ)....... whatever, tried to laugh it off.... but now we're all grouping gay people in with pedophiles as the only other demographic who would stoop to involvment in this fucked up business? Man bry - you werent fuckin around when you said you hate how pc we've become, huh? :D :?

I'm giving the kids a chance, but growing up with parents like the ones on this show, they don't seem like they really have the best chance at normal lives. Most of us grew up in homes with some discipline, and parents who didn't want to live their failed dreams through us and just be our best friends instead of parents...

And slow down there... I'm not grouping gay people with pedophiles at all, just saying that not really many straight guys would judge beauty pageants in general, so either these guy judges are gay (nothing wrong with that at all), or they are spending their time looking at little kids for other (scary) reasons.

Hey, I've never even seen the show...I don't know anything about the pageants, nor how fucked up the parents are...I just don't see it as constructive to make predictions about the kids and talk about how fucked they are pre-destined to be....I know they'll probably never read it...but you can bet they'll probably read SOME comment similar to yours, if they were to google their name or something. But hey, like I say...I'm not one to judge. I just like making these dumb observations, don't mean to accuse you of anything heinous. I know they're meant as casual comments, so I'm trying not to get on a horse here...

ya, I hear what you're saying, and agree. Just pointing out that, to me, if you can say you have a problem with the pageants, you should have a problem watching that show, since it's the industry itself that makes the show possible (not you; don't think you've mentioned if you've watched it or not)...

you just know there are people in the world with lightbulbs going off in their heads as they watch the show, as with any of our entertainment - people will emulate the dumbest shit....and they're only able to watch it on tv because of all the righteous folk who watch it to condem it. irony?

In other words, norm....it's your fault if people are trying to look and act like the cast of jersey shore :o:D

this is why i can't stand most of this reality tv shit...it just perpetuates that being the lowest common denominator is something to aspire to

    hear my name
    take a good look
    this could be the day
    hold my hand
    lie beside me
    i just need to say
  • There's something very, very wrong about very young girls in make up and prom dressses. It really fucking freaked me out when I saw the trailer. It's an emotion that I couldn't put a name to - a mixture of utter disgust, shock, surprise and bewilderment.

I think if I watched the show I would vomit. Seriously.

Parents who put their kids through this want fucking horse whipping.
It's gonna be a glorious day...

  • I honestly believe that people like this are abusing their children. they are not thinking of the kids even on iota. it's all about THEM, and it sickens me.

    OMG!

I caught a few minutes of this show a few nights ago. It is disgusting! At first I thought it was a joke. I saw the part about a little boy who won some supreme title. WTF?

I don't know if I saw this particular show you are posting about, but I saw a few seconds of one where they teased the toddler's hair into big curls with a poof on the top like the eighties and they held her down and sprayed fake tan on her. i think she cried.
