Hitler, Obama and Lenin

I was arguing with this dude at work one day and I asked him how he can think Obama is a Nazi and think Obama is a socialist at the same time since Nazis and socialists would be at opposite ends of the spectrum. Without missing a beat he was dead serious when he said "The Nazi party was the National Socialist Party - so there!" OMG.
I guarantee you 9 out of 10 of these guys are making the Hitler connection because the work "socialist" is in the name of the Nazi party.DAL-7/5/98,10/17/00,6/9/03,11/15/13

Iowa billboard linking Obama, Hitler removed
North Iowa Tea Party group drew criticism from other conservative activists

DES MOINES, Iowa — A billboard created by an Iowa tea party group comparing President Barack Obama to Adolf Hitler and Vladimir Lenin has been removed.
Kent Beatty, the general manager of the company that owns the billboard, says a North Iowa Tea Party representative called Tuesday night and asked that the sign in downtown Mason City be removed.
Beatty says his company replaced the sign Wednesday morning with a public service announcement.
The original sign showed photographs of Obama, Nazi leader Hitler and communist leader Lenin beneath the labels "Democrat Socialism," "National Socialism," and "Marxist Socialism."
Some tea party members criticized the sign, and North Iowa Tea Party co-founder Bob Johnson acknowledged the pictures overwhelmed the intended message of anti-socialism.
A billboard ordered and paid for by the North Iowa Tea Party shows President Barack Obama, Adolf Hitler, left and Vladimir Lenin, in Mason City, Iowa. The billboard has now been papered over."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

The difference to me is that one (new black panthers) are a few idiots that no one really cares about (except fox news for some reason), and another is basically a national political party who has candidates running for office and is on the news every day.
I don't think all tea partiers are racist... and I think the movement and a lot of those in it are good meaning people who are just fed up with how our government operates. I get that, and totally understand that. But, there are some vocal racists that normal people in the party don't seem to eager to denounce, and the party in general has been hijacked by the republican party.
What really helped to get Obama elected, was the grass roots movement that they started and brought along... The GOP saw this, and decided to hijack another grassroots movement and distort it to fit their agenda.
Actually, one is a group of racist idiots that openly threaten violence on whites...the other is also just a small group (NORTHERN IOWA for god's sake), not the national party you are inferring. Hell, I live in Iowa...there are hardly enough people in northern iowa to play a full on baseball game. You certainly can't have a designated hitter...damn pitcher has to hit!hippiemom = goodness0 -

Yep, 1 sign in Northern Iowa proves that for sure.
Man, it's a stupid sign. 1 stupid sign. It's been removed, to help protect the stupid people that put it there (the North Iowa Tea Party) from appearing as stupid as they are to the rest of the world. What idiots.
But to think this is anyway indicative of anything national is just a bit of a stretch. I'm not saying your hypothesis that the tea party has been taken over by the repubs is wrong...I'm just saying that your proof of it is weak sauce.hippiemom = goodness0 -

Good to hear, Bro...
And as a sidenote... I was on board with the initial Tea Party and the shake up in Congress. Those so-called representatives of ours need a swift kick in the ass. I figured, with a huge influx of Independent Party representatives, we could finally free ourselves of choosing between Cancer or AIDS in the ballot booths.
When I saw FOX News, Limbaugh and the likes becoming 'The Voice' of the Tea Party... I knew it was game over. The love affair with Sarah Palin was the death blow. I'm out.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

Most of these people don't seem to know the difference between communism, socialism and their right butt cheeks. In fact, most people don't know the difference. And this is scary. We live in a democracy, which depends on being reasonably educated, especially politically. This is something we have always sucked at in this country--teaching political ideologies, even among those going to college. To me, this seems like a backwater fear of other political systems and a way to rig knee jerks among the electorate so that your chosen demagogue can just utter "the magic words" necessary at the moment and be assured that no real argument needs to be made. It's so much easier to call someone a socialist and get everyone to jump to the right when they don't know any better than it is to call someone a socialist among people with any education and have them do much more than just laugh.0

the sing was so inaccurate it is not even funny
democrat socialism.. what is that
lenin and obama are not even close in scale to hitler, and well obama still not on scale with lenin
I admit it is a small minority pushing these ideas but it still scares me that it is growing and becoming more vocal
ironic that if obama had not won the Iowa primary he would probably not be president now**CUBS GO ALL THE WAY IN......never **0 -

after nobama gets ejected and a Republican gets voted in that president will get the same treatment from their opposer's and all you folks will find it less disturbing and some of you might even agree with what ever mud is being flung at the time, it's a ugly viscous wheel of like and dislikes so pick your poison.
Have a nice day

True. And the fact that this is true shows a disturbing trend: the political and social arenas - the same arenas that are supposed to forge growth, equality, and civility - have adopted venom and narrow-mindedness as their approach to discourse, as opposed to dialogue and clear, intelligent thought.
The U.S. is in a downward spiral (and no, it's not because of socialism). See this topic, viewtopic.php?f=13&t=137203, and pay attention to how many people you know that you consider informed. I think you may be surprised. But hey, who can blame people for not being informed and for not being involved? There are more important things to do: TV, the Mall, reading US Weekly, ..............not enough time0 -
