I am pretty much an all-Pearl Jam all the time kind of guy. I really don't ventrue off to other band's websites. My question is for people who frequent other band's websites and participate and the message boards/forums.

How does the Pearl Jam forum stack up with others? I'm thinking this is one of the more busy message boards. The whole relaying, posting and then reaction to PJ shows in just about real time is pretty intense. Does this go on elsewhere?

Thanks

Dude, I wonder the same stuff. I have been to other musicians site and post something on their board and either never get an answer or the board never changes much.

No where else can i go to a concert and then share it with other fans right after the show. Another reason I love this band and their fans.

I've messed around a bit on the NIN, soundgarden, radiohead, and eagles of death metal boards and can honestly say this one is my favorite... NIN has a great sense of community with some of their forum projects but can be a little "TRENT OMG!!", soundgarden fans seem to think they're more metal than they really are, radiohead is alot of elitist pricks, and i honestly havent spent enough time on the EODM to form much of an opinion... those are broad generalizations but ya know what i mean... pros and cons to every board

they all pretty much have the same things going on... its all about the people that are involved... i think PJ gets a pretty good mix because PJ is such an eclectic band... and they're passe enough to not attract too many trolls - oh, not to mention you have to be a fanclub member to post now :)

oh and the mods here are wonderful compared to most boards

I know Tool's forum is kind of retarded. You have to build your shit up by some point system. You have to reach certain levels to post in some of the forums. I think you post in any topic already generated, but you can't start one yourself.

Also at their unofficial site toolshed.down.net they have fanviews of concerts like they do here. This is pretty much the only one I post at.

Right on, the fans here seem pretty cool and intelligent but I expect no less from people with such great musical taste.

dmb fans are just as nuts as pj fans...following setlists, complaining about everything the band does etc

but i prefer you people...don't ask me why ;) :P

  • Thornley's forum was busy for a while, but then it burnt out, kinda like his career. You know you're done when your most devoted fans stop going there because of no news and no activity whatsoever. Just goes to show how Chad Kroeger can kill your career (Thornley's signed to his label, 604 Records).

  • Matthewgood.org was really good. But it was pretty much just all A Moving Train ALL THE TIME. 85% political discussion and 15% music stuff. And now he makes people pay to view all that content. With no other benefits like we enjoy with 10C (please, leave that one alone-I still think this club is worth it!).

Ramones forum has a lot of assholes and provocateurs.
I got banned from there a few years ago for abusing a moderator who was making shit up about me.

i've visited the radio head board, but it was unreadable, in the way it was layed out....or i was on the wrong place.

in a non suck up kind of way....PJ.com is one of the better run forums that i frequent.

I totally agree with this. I had absolutely no idea where to even start reading!

As a whole, pearljam.com has had the best layout, information, and ease of navigation of the band websites that I've visited. The only one that comes close is the Metallica fanclub site.

Seen PJ 21 times live from 1994-2019

  • Backstreets's BTX is also a "moving train" for Springsteen fans.

But in comparison, their site is the "local" and this is the "cross county express"!

(A good place to find "off-topic" tickets, though.)
