The End of Pearl Jam?

Eddie announced last night in Portugal *at least* a pause in Pearl Jam tours. Quoting his speech in portuguese "Thanks for coming to our last show. It's not the last show forever, but the last in a long time." (video below)

Some of the lyrics in Backspacer were already giving me the feeling this would be it. And The End it's such a perfect ending...'I'm here...but not much longer.' Is this it? Can it be this was the last PJ show I'll ever see?

What do you guys think?

yes i remember that, where i was working at the time, a freind at work how also was into pj kept asking me if they were splitting up, and i was like don't be silly,
and that was 10 years ago, and in another 10 years we'll still be here, with the last song on the latest album called "goodbye" or something like that, and someone will think they're splitting up.

Then I wonder why ED said last month that they had a bunch of songs done already for the next album which will not be a long time in coming.

Is it so shocking that they take a break after a world tour?...What I get out of it is that in the near future PJ are going to be too busy with relaxing, side projects, docs(hopefully),reissues and what not to tour.
    I ain't got no fly'n shoes..

A long time means maybe a year before they do some more shows. Maybe two or three years for another album. I have a feeling they will do a couple shows in the fall.

    I certainly am.

    Don't worry bout LeBron

Dan Gilbert said u guys would win it all first :)

I have a feeling we won't see them until next spring/ summer ( aside from bridge school) that could be a good thing with them hammering out some new songs and projects

i could see them taking a break for a year or so. It's not like there's anything left to prove. if i were them i would sit back and enjoy the fruit of my labors for a while.

EV solo and Soundgarden for sure. Right now I would rather see Soundgarden announce shows then Pearl Jam anyways.

Ed said it three times in other shows over the years. Don't be a nob. They need a vacation.

I'm down for a Mike solo album, which in that interview last year before the album came out, said he was working on one.

Of course they're NOT going anywhere, not anytime soon anyway! They're still writing and performing new material. The song "Of The Earth" they debuted a few weeks ago makes it seem like they're still trying new things as a band and that tells me that a new album isn't too far off. It would be great to have another 20 years of the greatest band ever, but for now if they want a break, even just from touring, I think they've earned it! I have no complaints about Pearl Jam, it's the longest, and most committed relationship I've had my entire life! Thanks Guys!

I could see them not doing anything for awhile.

Actually, Id be surprised if they had any type of "tour" before next Spring.

Including his solo tours, EV really hasnt had that much time off for awhile. Also, MC will be doing some Soundgarden work.

Whatever these guys want to do to stay fresh and enjoy all facets of life,
